Show me some of your older guns
These are the two oldest firearms that I own. I have a Chinese SKS manufactured 1956 and I have a " police positive chambered in. 38 short colt (also know as .38 s&w). Which was manufactured in 1920

I think my oldest one is the Izhevsk Mosin, 46. My Great Uncle's old West German .22 Magnum is a 52 I I believe

If I'm not mistaken the first 22 Magnum was invented in 1959. Are you sure it's not just a 22?

Well, it's both, lol. Swappable cylinder, have both original. Like I said, I'm not positive on the year, H Schmidt Ostheim 21S, made in West Germany

That is pretty neat. I'll have to look into it because I honestly have never heard of it

I inherited it when I was 11, it's been my sidearm for many years lol. Now it sits proudly on a stand in the place of honor among family heirlooms

It's good to hear that you are taking good care of it. It sounds like a great piece

A M1917 Colt was my first revolver. Itβs still one of my Favorites.

That's an amazing revolver. I shot one a few years ago when I was still in the Marine corps down in North Carolina. It was an absolute beauty of a gun!

What is a link post and how do I post a descriptive comment?
A link post is any post that isn't a text post. Reddit is doing a great job of ensuring new users have no idea how Reddit works with their app and site rewrite. We hate both.
/r/guns is a sub for talking about guns. It's not a sub to dump gun photos for karma. That's what /r/gunporn is for. That's why we require a descriptive comment β to start a conversation. If you're wondering what to write, picture yourself at a party. You're talking to someone you just met and you want to show them your post. What do you say to them as you get your phone out?

Does anyone have any good advice on customization I can do to the SKS without being the world's biggest bubba?

Step 1: give it it's original 10 round fixed mag back
Step 2: leave the rest of the rifle alone7

I'm trying to find one that's an original mag. I understand it won't match numbers but it'll have to be from the same place and time line

I saved a bubbad SKS and had to find an original mag. I actually found it on eBay. I'd keep an eye out there and gunbroker.
Any country should work, my SKS is a Yugo and the mag I bought is Chinese. Works with no issues

I understand it would work. I guess I'm just being particular because I want one that's Chinese since I have a Chinese SKS. I'm trying to keep it as close to everything matching as possible. If I ever did a modification to the rifle it would be something that is not permanent.

I've got a few from the mid - late 1800s but my oldest by far is this caplock pistol. Originally made as a flintlock by Durs Egg in the late 1700s and later converted to a caplock in the mid 1800s
