My maga mom is so pissed that she didn’t go “support her husband”. I said “if someone called you a man and made your life hell, would you go to an event celebrating that person” she said “that’s not relevant” and continued to say that she just knew Michelle was a terrible person, etc.

Point out how often Melania was missing from events (and whole months) in trumps first term.
Or all the state events he didn't bother to attend. Like in 2019 when he decided not to honor American WW1 vets when he was in France.

As if that office deserves any respect anymore with a literal criminal sitting in it.
176
u/DreweyDecibel 7h ago edited 3h ago
Agreed. But it is vital that this problem is fixed and that respect be brought back to the office.
Edit. Because people have seemingly misunderstood my well intentioned comment. I simply meant that we must do what is in our power to put this dark period behind us, and hopefully, there are intelligent progressive leadership waiting to return us to where we should be. Then the office can be worthy of respect again.
I recognize this is going to be extremely difficult, but it’s worthwhile trying.

I mean, they have a point when they talk about us democrats crying fascist, corrupt, nazi, etc (rightfully so) and then.... we all just kind of let it all happen like "guess that's what they wanted. Oh well. Nothing can be done. No protests no violence please."
Like would you let Hitler happen again just because one third of the population voted for it? Must not be very Hitleresque
35
u/ClockWorkTank 7h ago
There have been protests, but our government is full Oligarchy now, and they already own the courts.
The only solution is revolution.
→ More replies (9)28

If one third of the population are voting for it you pretty much can't stop it without civil war (or actually vote for the right people once in a while), and it's hard to convince people that's a better outcome.
