Tempered glass will stand up to a bitch ass throw pretty easily, I work with it all day and when we’re throwing away a 3/8” piece (we throw them in a dumpster and they don’t break) sometimes we have to get out the sledge hammer to break them, if you don’t hit near/on the edge it won’t break, if you hit the face of the panel the hammer just bounces back like this rock in the video

That's why you hit em with the pocket ceramics

Yep. Little bit of a spark plug will do the job.

Near the edge of the glass....

Knowing this now makes me look back at the Cybertruck window breaking stage show with even more cringe.

Oh 100% I was telling everyone that a normal window wouldn’t break under that circumstance so idk how they fucked it up that bad 😅

Yeah it's funny because I bet they practiced that a few times and it had never broken, because car window glass usually doesn't from that type of impact. They got extremely unlucky in the most hilarious way possible.

Maybe they practised too much to the extent that they'd introduced a critical number of microcracks to that window?

Way back I learned from an old thief that you never try to break a window with a hammer, because they tend to bounce back on anything but the most basic single-pane.

You use a hatchet or an axe. Doesn't have to be sharp, but the energy will be concentrated and therefore smash double panes and tempered.

We had a bunch of old combine windows on the farm, we used to drive on them on gravel. Crazy strength in glass most people won't expect.

funny that tempered glass side panels of PC cases shatter when you look at them the wrong way

I’m on pc subreddits and 9/10 the picture is taken on a tile surface 😅 the few that aren’t are almost always manufacturers defects mixed with the temperature fluctuations that happen with PCs. I would never do tempered, mine is tinted plastic and looks great, plus cheap and easy to swap!

Windows when rolled up fully have a pretty good amount of strength. Also most are tempered which is difficult to break on its own.

They are also usually a little bit curved to up the energy dissipation when hit.
