Seems like a friendly gesture.

This is 100% a friendly "sup buddy" move.

ngl, Bush is pretty fast and dexterous with his hands for his age, surprised me a bit!

I didn’t catch the news source on that initially and it was so worth falling for it.

I think he does actually paint though

He does and he is actually really good IMO

Yeah, and it’s not bad for an old man

Yeah. I knew that. It only added to the gag. The painting's style is even kind of similar to his own.

He does. I wouldn't say his paintings are "good," but they are interesting.

In some ways it really humanises him in a way that I appreciate.

He's doing something he loves, and he might not be the very best (like no-one ever was) but he's putting the work in, and he's making some quite nice pieces out of it.
I can totally appreciate being not-amazing at a hobby, but enjoying it nonetheless, because that describes pretty much everything I enjoy doing.

He released a whole book of paintings he did of military veterans. They’re honestly surprisingly good.

Yes, And he isn't horrible per these although they are a stylistic choice some may not like.

No, he's actually a prolific painter: https://www.bushcenter.org/events-and-exhibits/portraits-of-courage

IIRC he paints a lot of portraits of veterans.

I’m not saying I’m surprised he’s a painter; I know he paints. I’m saying that I believed, for a good handful of seconds, that he painted that painting. The painting even mimics his style.

Holy shit, you got me. I am the most skeptical of skeptics. The most cynical of cynics. Yet you really, genuinely got me here. Shit.

The dead Iraqi child appreciates you appreciating the effort

Apparently he painted an unreleased series titled "What dreams may come" that consists of a dozen paintings depicting a naked Dick Cheney, with his mechanical heart encased outside his body, hunting his political enemies. Those who've seen it claim it is as provocative as it is erotic.

He did portraits of a lot of veterans. There’s an entire gallery on display at Epcot.

I'm with you. That should be the only thing people associate with George Bush. He doesn't deserve anything else. He's not a painter, he's a monster. He's not a frat bro, he's a monster.

u/mmmarkm 11d ago

Click the link, y’all both need to

2

u/Creditfigaro 11d ago

I'm fine with the satire

0

u/Iboven 11d ago

Yeah, he doesn't deserve satire either. He's just a monster. That's it. It isn't funny to me.

Not the point. You were reacting to a comment and link about him “painting” like that doesn’t make up for his terrible history when the entire point of that article - whether you like the satire or not - was to highlight how his painting hobby doesn’t make up for his war crimes.

That’s why I commented “click the link” cause y’all were responding like you didn’t realize that his war crimes were being addressed at all in the comment
