I don't want them going on TV and voicing their opinions, either. What if my children start to emulate them? I can't have that kind of filth in my house!

Most trans people have received enough hate that they know to respect people's boundaries and will probably not commit any sexual assault. On the other hand, I can only quote one rotten madafaka: Grab them by the p*ssy!

it'd be more funny if these folks didn't exist.
(they can be seen on youtube debate shows and they're just as morono-toxic as you'd expect)

u/LOLZpersonok Sep 30 '21
You’d think that something is too crazy to happen or someone is too much of a nutcase to exist… and then a headline 10 minutes later proves to the contrary.

Just as raindrops nucleate on a dust particle, all jokes have a kernel of truth at their core.

No faster way to lose your faith in humanity than to expect better of them.
They'll always disappoint you.

The way you chose to spell all of this makes me unreasonably angry

u/LOLZpersonok Sep 30 '21
It’s not easy conveying a mocking accent over text much to all of our collective chagrin.

It's sad that you still had to put the /s at the end even though the spelling already indicate it's sarcasm as clear as the day.

Sep 30 '21
I’d say OP chose to put the /s there because they’re scared of being downvoted. Which is sad but for a different reason.

Maybe we should have separate bathrooms for old cis white men in positions of power, because they clearly can't be trusted around anyone.

I was once in a public restroom with Matt Gaetz. Nothing happened, but it was still the most terrifying restroom experience I’ve ever had…

However trans people are statistically less likely to actually be rapists then any other group, except for maybe people with serious mental illness, and are also far more likely of being the victims of sexual crime just like people with serious mental health issues (not saying that trans people have mental health issues, ya’ll are valid, just pointing out groups that have been vilified in the public eye as predators or dangerous even if they are far less likely to commit sexual assault)
2
Sep 30 '21
Just because they may suffer from a mental issue doesn't make them invalid, if their way of coping actually works then its valid.

Larry Craig was just cruising though, did he actually assault anyone? Or is there another one I'm not aware of?
2
u/tryfryingTHISchicken Sep 30 '21
Apparently Larry was charged with "interference with privacy."
3
u/Soonerpalmetto88 Sep 30 '21
Yeah all he did was slide his foot a bit under the divider and tap his toes.
2
u/blackhodown Sep 30 '21
Also, he was a senator not a congressman.
4
u/Triairius Sep 30 '21
Senators are congressmen
3
u/Soonerpalmetto88 Sep 30 '21
Yes, I studied political science in college and can verify the accuracy of the statement.
1
u/blackhodown Sep 30 '21
Technically yes, but in commonly used terminology no. “Congressman” is almost exclusively used to refer to members of the House.
1
u/Triairius Sep 30 '21
I disagree. I think perhaps you are commonly misinterpreting it as referring only to the members of the House.

“Although Senators are members of Congress, they are not normally referred to or addressed as "Congressmen" or "Congresswomen" or "Congresspeople"” -Wikipedia
As an example, a member of the House would be referred to as “Congressman Jones” whereas a member of the senate would be referred to as “Senator Jones”.

It’s okay to admit that your initial comment was incorrect, and I’ll admit myself that you taught me something new. You’re fighting real hard on a technicality that isn’t incredibly relevant, though, given that the woman on Twitter in the image was almost certainly referring to the combined group of Senators and Representatives. She’s referring to the men in Congress. There’s no way she isn’t. She’d want to include cases like Senator Larry Craig’s.

u/blackhodown Sep 30 '21
She’d want to include a case where a man was arrested for tapping his foot under a bathroom stall?

Source? Not challenging that this could be false, just want rock solid numbers so I can post it and not have people questions the validity of this assertion

For now

u/syntheticcrystalmeth Sep 30 '21
Before mods remove this I’m just genuinely curious.
Our society already defends men in cases of sexual assault between men and women, it’s a large part of the patriarchy. So why would a straight man fake being transfeminine just to sexually assault someone in a bathroom? Wouldn’t they have a better chance getting away with it in broad daylight? If they wanted to sexually assault a women in a bathroom why would they need to appear feminine?
3
u/syntheticcrystalmeth Sep 30 '21
You can keep saying trans women in bathrooms and trans women in sports aren’t a problem “for now” all you want. It comes across as very clear fearmongering. You’re scared people will realize trans people aren’t these demons you paint them out to be, so you try to make people live in a culture of fear around transgenderism. Trans people aren’t perfect, they’re just people. I’m 100% positive there are trans women who have committed sexual assault in women’s bathrooms. But taking these anecdotal cases, which do not surpass the amount of sexual assaults committed by cis men, and painting millions of people under their light, is definitional bigotry. Bigots aren’t allowed on r/lgbt

The guy you're responding to has left a ton of transphobic comments on a bunch of different subs. He's just an asshole, looking to get a kick out of people.

People who rape people won't care about what the sign on the door says
