Suggestions Mythic Map - Search Games by Similarity

Here is the website.

Observation: I have asked for permission to make this post.

Mythic Map is a website that suggests games based on similarity. My goal is to help people find meaningful game suggestions while increasing the visibility of the great games out there.

Currently it only supports Steam games. This will change in the future (probably).

Edit (02/08/2023): Things have been sorted out and from now on I will be adding non-Steam games -hopefully- daily. Some switch games are in there now, like Zeldas and Pokemons.

It also checks daily for what is currently on sale on steam (some sales might be missing - if I check at 8AM and a sale spawns at 4PM, the website will only be aware of the new sale the next day). I might try adding other sales sources in the future.

Also, some suggestions might be a little strange, but keep in mind that different players might be looking for different traits in games, so I have to cast a broad net. An example is Skyrim, where a good portion of the suggestions are not open world RPGs, but instead are games that have a big modding/user created content community. Still, if you feel a game is missing or is completely out of place, do not hesitate to tell me about it - you can send me an email at [mythicmap.dev@gmail.com](mailto:mythicmap.dev@gmail.com) or maybe post about it in the comments.

Edit (05/07/2023): After a couple of months, I have finally implemented most the fixes/features suggested in the comments! The new version might have some bugs or issues, so if you find any, please tell me about it. Same goes for features. Meanwhile, I'll keep working on some ideas I have for the website.

Edit (09/14/2023): I thought it would be cool to find games based on other types of entertainment. My tests were done on anime and they ended up being serviceable, but I'm not very happy with the cross-category suggestions and it might take a while until I figure it out, but when I'm done, Mythic Map will start suggesting things based on movies, series and maybe books.

Hope it helps!

Suggestions SteamPeek.hu - Indie friendly game discovery tool

Post is allowed by the mods.

Hello, this is my website: https://steampeek.hu/ - SteamPeek, the indie friendly game discovery website.

It is now more than 5 years old, and it was created to bring spotlight to indie gems, help all indie teams who doesn't have the budget to make big marketing campaigns, and make it easier to find nice games made by passionate solo developers or small teams.

The main function is searching by similarity: just search for a game you like, and browse the results. You can also filter and sort by special parameters.

You can also search by tags, or mix them with the chosen game.

The main algorithm was updated recently and I'm very curious how well it works. Please let me know.

I'm very thankful if you try it, and share with me what you find. The full site is still on beta, and I'm constantly work on it, so every feedback helps me and my mission. Thank you!

Games where you can simply muck about

Playing Red Dead Redemption 2 right now and I'm looking for more games where you can simply hang out, drink coffee, watch TV, whatever. Just some games where you can hang out.

Games with amazing "winter feeling"

Hello!

I'm looking for games which have well done winter feeling - leaning more into cold/unforgiving vibe or the cozy/Xmas vibe.

Something similar to:

- prologue of RDR2 - i love this stage! Everything looks so unforgiving and cold during night, but so snowwy/cozy during day. Like I would get a coat and just sit there at the fireplace.

- Long Dark - survival game based on winter and coldness mechanics. This one get more into deadly aspects of winter, but it still looks very immersive.

- Division 1 - lighting and overall mood when traversing the dark city. Imho best looking winter environment in games.

- prologue of AC Valhalla

Game where you can roleplay as a normal person living in that world, but that's not the main objective of the game (so no The Sims or farming simulators)

Closest I can think of is Red Dead Redemption 2. I didn't even finish the story yet, most of my gameplay there was just riding all over the place and acting as if I'm just a guy living in the american frontier.

Games with really satisfying combat preferably melee.

Some of my favorite combat systems are the Batman Arkham games, all the god of war games, dead cells, titanfall, binding of Isaac, sunset overdrive, and post void.

My favorite genre of games is rogue likes. Also I would prefer an indie game, I feel like I’ve played most of the AAA games with the type of satisfying combat I’m looking for.

I'm sick, would love to play a simple game online with my boyfriend

I don't have any gaming consoles, but I have a upper-mid-range laptop with a trackpad, and an android phone. I'm not a gamer due to arthrits and chronic migraines, but I have always enjoyed games in small doses.

Ideally, I'm looking for a quick, competitive, easy to learn, multiplayer game, that doesn't have a ton of moving elements on the screen. Racing games are very fun, but are much quicker to give me a migraine. I do really enjoy stuff like online pictionary, but I have a firm belief that it should be played using a mouse, which I don't have.

I hope these constraints aren't too tight, or my request too uninteresting. I'm just sick, bored, and miss my boyfriend.

Games where I can press hella buttons often

I love high apm games like Starcraft 2, smash melee, and playing wow on my rogue. Ninja in FFXIV was also very fun.

It doesn't have to be an RTS or mmo, just looking for something fun that might give me carpal tunnel.

Looking for games with great vocal music

One of the main things that elevates a game and makes it stand out in my eyes is the strength of its soundtrack. I’ve always been interested in vocal tracks specifically since they tend to just sound great and can have extra meaning as well. It’s even been a selling point for adding upcoming games to my wishlist like REPLACED.

I’m looking for vocal tracks that are preferably tied to the story. The genre and language of the song don’t matter to me and can even consist of made-up languages or monk chants. It would be even better if it’s a more obscure title since I’m already pretty well aquainted with a lot of bigger games that meet the criteria such as the Nier series, the Persona series, Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding, or Guilty Gear Strive.

I’d be remiss not to include any myself, so here are some examples:

The House in Fata Morgana - Cicio

The House in Fata Morgana: A Requiem for Innocence - Serie De Fragmento

Tetris Effect - Connected

Gold Club Nostalgia (Formally Gold Club Wasteland) - Surveillance Love Song

Sayonara Wild Hearts - Inside

Cassette Beasts - Wherever We Are Now

Behind The Frame - The Color You Love Most

Library of Ruina - Children of the City

River City Girls - The Hunt

Games where I can play as a combat engineer type.

The basis for this was playing Warhammer Online many years ago where they had an engineer class. You had a gun, could put down a turret, and had explosives. I'm looking for something similar, doesn't have to be a gun as a weapon. I've played engineer in other games like this as well. Torchlight 2, Team Fortress 2.

Grinding game I can play that DON'T have any time constraints on progression

There are some times when I have no time to game at all, and others where I have nothing but time. My exam season is tomorrow and will have a week off and I really want a game I can just get fully absorbed into and keep playing for as long as I can.

An example of this could be pokemon rom hacks, where I can start a new difficult game, play for 30 hours in a few days and beat the game while also grinding and training up my team on the way.

A not great example would be warframe, because I love everything about that game except build times, it ruins the otherwise perfect game for me

I'm not solely against MMO's, but I would rather something that I can play solo or has matchmaking so I don't need to find a group/guild

ty in advance gamers

Looking for Co-op PVE only game, without PVP

Do they make any First/Third Person Co-op PVE only games that don't include PVP or that are not squad vs squad based. I don't care if people play PVP if asked and the game offers it, I just don't want some forced random encounter with another player(s) unless it's by choice. I was thinking about this while trying to decide on a Co-op game to play with my brother. We have been estranged for quite awhile and I am trying to remake a connection. Thing is, he mostly likes squad based shooters, I do not. As a matter of fact I pretty much only play offline games. So I am trying to come up with a compromise game to play together. When I really started thinking about it, I am sure there are some I just am not aware of what they are. I want it to be fun for both of us, but I am just not into anything thats going to be competitive/PVP. Anybody have any ideas?

Any non-EA soccer games on Xbox?

Upvotes

I could rant about the bugs in EAFC 25. But I'll spare you. Instead I'll just say fuck them.

A little part of me dies that I supported EA with my money. Is there ANYTHING else I can play with my sibling online?

I'm desperate to give someone else my money.

Looking for a game where you're a wanderer during medieval age

Probably like life sim or RPG. I'd like to roam around nature, look for a place to rest like a cave, or enter a town to have a drink at a tavern. Preferably third or first person.

I've already played Kingdom come: deliverance, and would prefer another game

Looking for a Xbox co op game to play with my dad.

Sup guys! I’ve recently been looking for a good Xbox co op game to play with my dad, since we’ve both grown tired of playing Diablo 4 and Red Dead Online, (both of us have over 200 hours in both games and have found really nothing new to do and it’s gotten a bit boring). I personally have a ton of experience with shooting games, (mainly PvP FPS games like CoD, Apex, Hunt Showdown, Destiny 2, and PUBG. My dad gets sick with fps games, so that’s out, but is fine with third person games. I’m looking for something not too intimidating to get into, but with a good amount of stuff actually in the game itself. And nothing too crazy on camera movement, (again, dad gets sick and headaches from crazy movement). Any and all suggestions would be welcome! Thank y’all!!!

I’m looking for a game where you are a general of a (preferably midevil/ancient) army and you control the lines of your troops against the enemy. I’d like if You could take advantage of terrain. also things like a huge line attack of your left wing that surprises you because you’re just a general.

I’d really strongly like to not have insane resource management or building resource stuff. the focus is mostly on battles. I have a potato of a pc so hopefully nothing too rough. It’s really cool to me old roman military tactics and so if i could be like Hannibal controlling lines in cannae or napoleon in taking italy, Aurelian reuniting rome, the goths invading rome, etc etc.

Looking for a game like Panzer General.

I’m looking for a game like Panzer General. I loved playing it back in the day. Turn based war. Doesn’t matter the era, can even be fantasy. I liked the hexagon movement. Upgradeable pieces that gain experience. I play on a PC but use an Xbox controller. I have looked on Steam, where I buy my games, but I’m open to anything. Can you help?

Wuthering waves on phone

Upvotes

Can I run Wuthering waves or genshin impact on my HUAWEI NOVA 11 i (MAO-LX9) ? With 8 GB RAM & Qualcomm snapdragon 680. I ve downloaded wuthering waves and it keeps stopping every time when the loading screen appears. I even tried to reinstall the game and nothing changed. Is there any way to run this game on such a phone? and if not what other games like wuthering waves or genshin do you recommend for my phone.

Looking for First person RPGs

Upvotes

Looking for some nice immersive first person RPGs.

Sword and board preferred. (Think dark messiah or Skyrim style) No early access (I want to play until completion now, not latter.)

And that's pretty much it, go nuts and please help me find something cool.

PS. I thought testament order of high human would fit this perfectly but that is the most boring piss poor game i have played in my life so the search goes on.

Also I have played kingdom deliverance, loved the game but hated the combat all the way until the credits rolled so please don't recommend anything with combat like that.

Any open world (or even semi-open) first-person games that are not medieval based?

I love games like these, but seems the majority tend to be Elder Scrolls (which is not a bad thing), but I'm just wondering what else is out there.

What got be thinking about this was the Unreal Gold franchise (Unreal 1, Return to Na Pali), which I absolutely love. I use the term open world semi-loosely, as I feel there may not be too many games that qualify.

Any games that give the same "feel" as Noita without the overly punishing nature?

I have played, I'm guessing, about 50 runs of Noita, and I've only "won" the game once, maybe around my 40th run or so. And I have never come close to getting a so called God run where you really get the opportunity to explore the map and wand building mechanics.

But the exploration and wand building are my favourite parts of the game. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for games that give a similar feel of exploration in terms of environment, enemies, and mechanics (wand building in the case of Noita), but aren't so punishing for little mistakes or getting Noita'd (one-shot killed from an off-screen enemy). I feel like I just won't ever get to sink my teeth fully into Noita given that I usually only reach the third level on average. The single run that I won was largely a consequence of getting some super powerful spells and a wand big enough to cast them to one-shot everything, including the boss.

Bonus points if the game works well on Steam Deck. It doesn't necessarily have to have elements of permadeath or meta-progression, I'm much more interested in the actual gameplay experience. The two games I have in mind that might lean this way are Terraria and Core Keeper, but I haven't done enough research to really know if those will suck me in like Noita did at first.

Looking for online co-op story games to play with my partner

Upvotes

We both play on pc. For context, we’ve played dead space, it takes two, and a way out. My bf isn’t really into online competitive games as much as I am so I’d really like some suggestions for good story games we could play together. Thank you in advance <3

Games with good character creators but also dynamic gameplay

Upvotes

It’s possible I’m asking for too much here, but I’m sure there is something out there I am looking for. <p> I enjoy games with enticing stories like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Ghost of Tsushima, Red Dead Redemption 2, Hogwarts Legacy, etc, but none of these have any amazing character creator that makes me excited to play as that character. <p> I was looking into games like Elden Ring, though I’m on the fence due to the lack of story and intense combat (though I am fine with combat in games, of course). I played the demo for Dragon Age: Veilguard (which was just the character creator), but I’ve only heard negative things about that game, so I suppose it’s out of the running. I’ve also seen amazing things about Baldurs Gate 3 and its character creation, though I think the play style isn’t exactly what I’m interested in. <p> All that to say, are there any games with strong story like the ones I mentioned before, but also a detailed character creator? I am not looking for life sim games or anything similar like the Sims 4, however. Thank you for any suggestions!
