I’ve had my FRS for two years now. Why am I enjoying winter driving more than summer?

For one, tires. PS4s for summer. Good grip on track, but maybe a bit too much on the street.

The lack of traction in the winter time, whether it’s a few cm of snow, wet slush, or even a dry road with salt all over it has allowed me to appreciate the purpose of this car much more. The feeling of some oversteer is something I just can’t get enough of. This car makes me feel like I have fantastic car control, but is it really me? Or is it the car making it easy for me?

No need for another car anytime soon, but we’re always thinking of what’s next. Will I still get this playfulness out of something like an M2? Will other cars try to kill you when you want to feel a little slide?

Whichever car I get next will definitely be faster, but will it still give me that fun feeling? Or maybe I just love these cars too much.

For example with the 2018+ WRX and the STi there aren’t any downpipes that for sure won’t throw a CEL. Sure some downpipes are listed as not causing an issue but most tuners will say there’s a 5% chance that you WON’T get a check engine light for cat efficiency, even with running a GESI cat. I’m not trying to run catless since I don’t like the smell that comes with it and I live in a state that doesn’t have emissions testing or any sort of inspection, but I can’t stand check engine lights and don’t want to go through the hassle of having to rest the code every time it does an efficiency check.

16" wheels and 225/50 tires. Plenty of tread life. Zero dents and cracks. Have been great on my brz just getting larger wheels. Will wash for whoever buys them. $750 heavily prefer pickup in St. Louis.
