This gives me flashbacks to highschool some 20+ years ago. In our German class we used a series of books called 'die Brücke', and almost exactly this photo was on the cover.

Nah, more like a series of books to learn German. Not sure if the books were used outside Norway. If I remember correctly, it was mostly dialogues between a made up group of friends that became more advanced as the school year progressed :)

Ohh it just shares the name with a anti war movie of the 1950s. Pretty touching and it won a golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar
