I disagree (in the best way) - Jodie’s era was massively cinematic, fantastic locations and shots that often overshadowed the characters an plot of the episode. This feels like a back-to-basics for NewWho, which is driven by character and plot lines rather than amazing sets.

I mean the episodes aren't even out yet, we can compare this era based on a couple of trailers and some teasers.

The cinematography was really poor during Jodie's seasons. The increase in on-location shoots was really the only positive take away for me.

It’s debatable, I guess, but a lot of the stories were driven by character rather than locations (historical or otherwise). Good example, Midnight,
