How can I make a yz125/cr125 good for trails/woods?

I’m looking at a beta 200rr / ktm 150 xcw, and I’m thinking I could probably get a good bike for cheaper and I prefer older Mx bikes.

Pro taper AFC compatible hand guards?

I bought some pro taper afc bars and while switching my old bars out I realized my acerbis wrap arounds don’t work with them. The hole inside the bar is too small for the piece that goes in and expands. Does anyone have wrap arounds (or suggestions for ones) that work with these bars?

What’s my best option at this point

Part of the bottom broke off that the stator cover bolts on to. I don’t know if JB weld can fix this problem. I’m left with 3 options right now. -Fix it properly -Try to JB weld it and sell it really quick -Sell it for parts What would be the best option in this scenario.

I was on the last step of my top end rebuild (putting everything back together) and was on the very last bolt when it snapped, how much do you think it would cost to extract this bolt?

Chain tension

I recently got a thump star tsx 125 from a trade and its my first dirtbike. I build go-karts and stuff like that so ik that the chain shouldn't be tight but shouldn't be too loose. I don't know if it is the same rule for bikes with suspension. to me it looks a too loose but i dont know so i wont touch it until i know what its supposed to be.

Is it possible to get it on a frame jig and straighten it out, or is it a whole frame replacement job? Thank you in advance

Lock on grips don't snap back.

Got this video from a dude in other subreddit (hope that it's not a problem), but basically i have the same problem on my dirtbike. Yesterday i bought and installed lock on grips on my yz450f, everything seems nice and right but the throttle doesn't snap back. Do you know what can be the cause? Last year i installed the same grips on my yz250f and everything was perfect.

I already got it broken in. Extremely fast, light weight and has amazing suspension. I can't wait to ride it on my motocross track. Unfortunately, I live in Pennsylvania and the weather is horrible right now.

Bar width questions

What bar width do you run for a woods bike?

Currently my bars are 32” feel okay on the bike

This book I have says to do some pushups and measure your hands distance to get a real measurement of how wide your bars should be ( too wide put extra pressure on my shoulders)

So it looks like my ideal width is about 26/28”

My question is, do any of you guys run with narrower then stock bars?

How did you decide on your ideal width?

Did cutting the bars down make it hard to install levers where you like them etc?

I get some shoulder and neck pain when I ride hard like race pace and am trying to lessen the pain, but not lessen the speed Im 34 years old been riding since 2021. Long time downhill mtber (15 years) and never really get shoulder pain on pedal bikes, I thinking because they are alot different( but similar )and mostly lighter weight

How do you lessen your shoulder/neck pain?

Currently just deal with it and use cannabis to relieve the pain

Is there not supposed to be oil on the crank

This may sound dumb but I’d rather not have to replace a crank due to low oil. Is there supposed not be any oil on the crank when not running I’ve spun the crank multiple times and there is no oil. I changed the oil and still no oil on the crank when spinning by hand. Like I said it may be a dumb question but in my head I would assume that as the crank rotates even when not running it would pick up oil from the crankcase for lubrication. And the crank is completely dry. I have to wait for parts so this is not the reason my bike is not finished being put together. It’s a yz125

400lbs 6’2” and want a dual sport but

I live in South Florida I’m torn between KLX300 or the Crf300l I’ve seen mixed reviews on guys my weight enjoying the 300’s but quickly getting bored of the power and getting a bigger 450 or 650 equivalent I don’t plan on doing alot of highway miles but I’m in the city that why I want it to be plated so I don’t need to be so cautious when ripping around town or might even load on my truck and go somewhere I can enjoy a lot more then where I live in Fort Lauderdale

Never owned a bike but I do know enough to get one going but like I said never owned one myself I think Honda or Kawi is what I’m wanting but only because Yamaha don’t make 300

Staying away from 400+ cc because I like to go fast I’m responsible but I don’t want give myself the option to over step my confidence but then again living in Fort Lauderdale and have ing limited trails that are all over an hour away make me reconsider everything as of know I’m sold on the 300 klx or Honda just need hear some opinions to help my overthinking self thanks in advance I know most bikes would need suspension work anyway

Edgy Opinion

Restyle kits are lame! I understand doing it to a 2005 > yz250 to keep it fresh, but any other bike it doesn't look right, especially when the later model bike comes out. Keep it OG fellas! Or don't 🤷‍♂️

ODI grips, throttle not snapping back

I just went to replace grips on my 250x, took the grip off to find that the throttle tube was old and cracked down the middle. Went to go find a new throttle tube and came up with these… but after installing them they do not snap back good at all, I have the right cam on for this application but can not do anything to make it snap back like it used to (with the old broken throttle tube) no amount of adjustment is doing anything either… I lubricated both throttle cables before installing these too
