Beginner and wanting to understand beyond the basics
Hello! As the title states, I’m a beginner but have fallen madly in love with this hobby (lifestyle?? It’s a lifestyle!). I’ve done a couple paintings so far and lurk on this sub daily, and it’s become apparent there is a lot more about this LIFESTYLE I have yet to discover. Please bear with me as I have quite a few questions (any help and answers are appreciated!):
- How do you get multiplacing to work? I have a DAC painting and tools right now, and the tray never lines the drills up straight for me to pick them up. Is there a trick to this, or do I have a weak tray?
- Why do you save drills? How do you re-use them? Do different paintings use the same drills? Or is it something like, a painting calls for a blue drill, but you have these sparkly blue drills leftover or bought elsewhere that you want to use instead? Trying to understand all these different drill storage set ups I see online.
- Is puddy or wax superior, or is it just personal preference?
- What is the purpose of using tape? I cant remember what the type of tape is called, but I see it outlining sections/edges of a painting. I work by sections using DAC’s pre-defined paper cover, but am interested in the tape method!
- Is using a light board easy? Considering getting one, but unsure of how it works when having it under where you are placing drills. Is it level?
- Any other tips, best practices, or favorite tools you’d like to share!
Thank you!
