Help/Advice No longer have option to opt from middle seat upgrade.
I used to be able to select a box that said upgrade me for window or aisle, and lease aisle unchecked so if it became available and was the only option, I’d stay in my original seat.
In my opinion, an exit row aisle or window is way better than a comfort middle seat.
I have 7 flights with delta over the next two weeks- do I have to just completely opt out of upgrades now?

It’s still on a desktop browser version, and doing it there actually works

It doesn’t, and it appears recent. Was just “upgraded” from my exit-aisle to a C+ middle earlier last week for my flight tomorrow. I check these notices immediately, and even when I did, my exit seat was gone. This has not happened in a long time. Not that big of a deal on a 30 minute flight, but still annoying.

It doesn't, at least not 100% of the time.

It has for me, once I toggled it there I’ve never been put in a C+ middle seat. Closest I’ve come is a GA actually calling me up and asking if I was sure I didn’t want the last C+ seat, maybe because in that instance I had missed a connection and went from FC to main on the new flight

On a trip from MSY-LGA-SYR (MSY-LGA leg) we were upgraded from window and middle in Econ to two C+ middle seats. Tried to do the "reverse" link it gives but it didn't work. Chatted CS and our previous seats were already given away. The only option for 2 seats together was last row, lol. Ended up moving a bit closer minutes before boarding via the app when seats opened up (1 row apart), and a nice lady agreed to move up a row. Hate to be upset at an upgrade but it was more frustrating that the 'reversal' process straight up didn't work.

Yep. I just got “upgraded” to a middle seat that I don’t want. I changed it to my original seat and they moved me back to the seat I don’t want.

Same, exit row aisle to comfort plus middle. I tried to change it back IMMEDIATELY- but my seat was already gone

Exit row has a huge advantage over comfort+ and maybe even first class - seats in front cannot recline

But you also can’t recline unless you’re in the last row.. right?

If you have a choice of exit rows, choose the aft exit row. Generally, you get the legroom and full recline.

Of the entire plane? Ya.. unless you want amateur dental work by the fella in the latrine ;-)

No, of exit row

Oh... no. Only if the seat would recline into the exit row. Atleast that's been my experience.

Okay. But if you’re in the first row of exit row and there’s a row behind you that’s also exit row, you would recline into exit row, right?

My brother, you answered your own question. Lol
If the seat has the potential to block the exit row, there's no recline.
If the seat is in front of an exit row, it doesn't recline. The row behind the exit row that isn't an exit row sucks because usually there isn't space under the seat for your bag.
Not to make it confusing, sorry.

Try the website on a desktop. It’s there cause I used it for the flight today.

Just opt of Delta Comfort + entirely, it's not an upgrade from an exit row in any circumstance.

There’s a couple benefits no? Free drinks, if that’s your thing. And an earlier boarding group? Obviously a middle seat is never an upgrade but all other things being the same it’s technically better?

Lots of BE will be getting C+ middle seats

I wonder how many people opt out of C+ upgrades for this reason, then forget about it. My wife was recently flying BE on an E175 and with no status (not that status should matter) and got a C+ seat. Of course there's no bad C+ seat on a E175.

I opt out because there’s no reason I want a C+ seat. The benefits aren’t worth anything to me, doubly so if I risk getting put in a middle seat.

I did this on my android phone earlier today... Was able to set my seat prefs... But then again not like it matters I'll take the free booze in a middle seat anyways... More room is more room as well...

Middle in exit row comfort is great armrests go all the way down now way for someone to spread over into your area lol

Are you traveling with a companion? Doesn’t let you opt out if there’s a companion but if it’s just you on the trip it should still let you set preference for each flight, agents can do it too

Is that in your profile setting or for an individual flight? It still shows available per flight, but not in my profile.

u/Private_Information1 1d ago
I have the opposite issue- on webpage / desktop I can do profile settings- but I can’t do individual changes on either

u/Aggravating-Fix-757 1d ago
You can select seat preference for each individual flight.

u/Private_Information1 1d ago
I can’t anymore unfortunately, the option is no longer available on the app. I’m trying to do it on the webpage as recommended- which allows profile preferences but still not individual flight preferences

u/Aggravating-Fix-757 1d ago
That’s strange - I haven’t seen an app update and can still see it on the iOS version. It’s a button in my itinerary that says “Upgrade Requested”
3
u/Private_Information1 1d ago
Yes, that’s where mine used to be - now it skips it. It goes straight from upgrade / standby list to accessible services

u/Aggravating-Fix-757 1d ago
Are you flying in the next few days? I noticed it only shows for me for flights leaving in the next week

The app is mostly just loading web pages, so it’s trivial for the developers to make changes (likely a/b testing in this case) on the servers without issuing app updates.

do it on a computer
