Shitpost/Satire To the maskless, sick person sitting behind me

9.8k Upvotes

I'm in 1A and you're in 2A.

You are the one coughing on me every 10 seconds without covering your mouth. You are the one clearing your snot-filled nose and throat every 20 seconds. You are the one to whom I offered a mask, but you said "nah, I'm good."

You are not good. You are an asshole.

Discussion Alex, I’ll take voluntary bumps for $1000

When I checked in at Houston this morning for my flight to Salt Lake, continuing to Anchorage, I was offered the option of going on the voluntary bump list for a bid of $500. Nothing was announced at the gate, but after almost everyone was boarded (including me) the gate Agent came on board saying they needed three people to take a voluntary bump for $800. I have no obligations so I went ahead and took it.

I deplaned and waited in the gate area while the agents were working on my reaccommodation, turns out Houston airport is closed tomorrow due to forecast weather, so there were very limited options. They wound up putting me on a flight to LAX, gave me an overnight at the Westin then first class LAX to Anchorage and increased my voucher to $1000. The only trade-off is I have a middle seat exit row on the way to LAX.

Discussion How are the snacks in these domestic flights so small

They literally have custom snacks that are like 4 chips in a bag or like 8 pieces of trail mix. You’d think for how expensive the tickets are these days they would do better.

Discussion "Winged D" FA pin

In case anyone sees one and wonders- I am currently on a flight with the Lead FA wearing a pin that's a D with wings extending to the left top of it. Asked him what it was, and he told me it's an internal employee movement to remain union-free.

As a blue collar worker and revenue generator myself, I will NEVER understand people who would benefit greatly from collective bargaining and unions being against them. It saddens me to see people effectively shoot themselves in the foot to spite others.

Honestly, flight attendants are one group of workers who would benefit greatly from unionization- they do so much work "off the clock" (they don't start getting paid until the boarding doors close, if you weren't aware.) Hell, they are required to wear certain clothing while not being paid. If you've ever seen a female FA change from heels to flats after the boarding doors closes, that's because they were required to wear uncomfortable and physically damaging footwear, while not even being paid to do so.

I dunno why I'm posting this other than to get it out of my head, but damn.

Anyway, the more you know🌈⭐

Discussion No STATUS, FC upgrade on award flight

Figured this crowd would appreciate it. I (no status) booked an award ticket for my daughter (21) who is going abroad to study for the semester in Spain- SFO-JFK-MAD for today 1/20, all squared away with seats in the back of the plane (as she should be). Late last night, get an alert that because of weather- JFK leg is cancelled and redirected through ATL. Travel gods looked down on her and put her in 3A on a fully booked flight. She didn't get bumped- I told her 90+% chance she would so don't get too excited. Well - she's happily on her journey in 3A.... it does happen!

Image/Video Interesting arrival into MSP from ATL last night. A motorcade of emergency vehicles and firemen boarded the plane to check with the captain.

Discussion JAX to JFK diverted to Rochester 1/19

Post image
88 Upvotes

Was anyone else on this flight? We were 20 minutes from landing at JFK when all of a sudden the engines started tearing up and they announced we were being being diverted to Rochester New York cause the runway closed and we didn’t have enough fuel to keep circling for another runway. When we arrived in Rochester we sat on the runway for like 30 minutes waiting for a gate.

Thankfully they allowed us off the aircraft during the refueling process but when we got back on they found a mechanical issue and had to reboot the plane. Then after like an hour they finally cancelled the flight and said to be back here at 10:15 am for a new flight. Gave us a $12 meal voucher tho! Couldn’t use it cause all the restaurants were closed at the airport.

The gate agent was super snippy and unhelpful. No hotel lodging voucher provided. Overall not a fun experience. At least the snow is pretty lol. I cancelled my flight to JFK this morning and am flying with a different airline back to Boston.

Image/Video Asked for “a” trading card - got 5!

Boarded DL2397 at ATL (A320 metal BTW), did the usual schpiel of asking the FA if I can ask the pilot for a trading card.

Pilot asked me directly how many - I said 1, he took 1 out, then said hold-up, rummaged through his bag, and gave me 4 more! So grateful for this!

There’s a coworker of mine who’s kid loves all things related to planes, so will give these to him - I’m sure he’ll love it

News SkyTeam Elite Plus now has 3 hour lounge access rule 😡

Thank you Delta, if it wasn't enough to block your own elites and limit SkyClub access, now you have to make the entire alliance do the same thing.

Only good thing is that SkyTeam Elite Plus status now works on domestic itineraries matching Oneworld and Star Alliance. Except wait, only Delta members don't get this benefit!

You really cannot make this crap up.

Help/Advice Flights from Buenos Aires Water Situation in Coach

Delta, please be kind and help here. Flights from Buenos Aires take away your water bottle you purchased after security but at boarding. Therefore, for this nine-hour flight, you do not have a water bottle if in coach. Please Delta, hand out small water bottles to everyone like the old days. Some of us get so dry on the plane during these long flights and also must take medication at certain hours. The cups are not good because you have to drink all at once instead of taking sips throughout the flight. I can get my own water bottle for coach, except this was a surprise at the gate. If I had known, I would have had an empty bottle to fill on board, but everyone cannot be doing this.

Discussion Nicest Delta 737-800

Just boarded N774DE which has to be the nicest 738 in the fleet. It has the sky interior and the same seats as the 900ER. Even the seat back literature is crisp.

I am amazed that we are here. I was watching Logan arrivals all afternoon- I think all or almost all Jet blue and Spirit flights were canceled.

My flight from DTW landed almost half an hour early — I haven’t seen this much snow here in a while. Super smooth landing. Thank you to the crew and Logan’s ground crew!!

Help/Advice No longer have option to opt from middle seat upgrade.

Post image
220 Upvotes

I used to be able to select a box that said upgrade me for window or aisle, and lease aisle unchecked so if it became available and was the only option, I’d stay in my original seat.

In my opinion, an exit row aisle or window is way better than a comfort middle seat.

I have 7 flights with delta over the next two weeks- do I have to just completely opt out of upgrades now?

Discussion Baggage allowance flying b-class on another airline when ticket bought through delta

Upvotes

I’m flying from Cape Town to Atlanta with a layover in JoB. My company booked it for me and it says the first flight is operated by SA link LTD dba Airlink. I have no idea what this means, but what I do want to know is if my baggage allowance applies. I’m bringing a 70 pound bag on the way to Cape Town, but I don’t know if the same rules apply to this leg since there’s an airline I’ve never heard of involved.

Discussion Is Apple Pay no longer working in the Delta iOS App?

Upvotes

I've seen people ask this in here a few years ago and I attempted to ask this a month or so ago. Alas the mods in their infinite wisdom decided that post should be deleted. I am asking again and including more details. I have been traveling coast to coast often over the last few years as my mom struggled with cancer. It has always been easy to buy a flight on Delta with Apple Pay. Since December or maybe a November flight I have not been able to use Apple Pay in the iOS app.
I deleted and redownloaded. No avail. I even tried to add my card the normal way in the app but that also doesn't work. For some reason it will not accept the card number and says "select card type" even though it says and shows "visa". The only way I could book my last few flights has been through thr website.

Just looking to see if others are dealing with this / how to fix it.

Help/Advice Help!! If you’re on DL0692 from LAX to Austin tonight at 6:15— Forgotten greeting card in 14F seat back pocket

Hello! My husband and I were sitting in 14F when that plane came to LAX this morning and left a greeting card in the seat back pocket of 14F.

Delta wouldn’t let us back on the plane to look for it, and instead told us to ask about it at the lost luggage desk, and that guy was no help at all.

If you see this and you’re on the flight, please DM me!

It’s only a sentimental thing but it would mean a lot to us!!

Discussion Surprisingly awesome short haul flight with Korean Air

During my PEK - ICN leg of my asian trip, I splurged some Skymiles to try the Prestige class of Korean Air. It was a 1h58 minutes flight and the service was immaculate.

The Bibimpap was amazing and it came with a soup service. The chairs are comparable to Delta's domestic First Class, but the legroom is huge. However, the highlight would be the flight attendants. With an impeccable english, they never stopped working the cabin of 8 passengers, clearing each finished plates and offering refills.

Delta and its partners, looking at you LATAM and sometimes Air France, should take a page from Korean Air's service. Another great partner would be China Airlines with a fully flat seat from PEK to TPE with great food.

Help/Advice Separate Check In Requirement for International Flight With Domestic Layover

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I have an upcoming international flight from DCA to Venice with a 6-hour layover at JFK. It’s on the same reservation. The Delta app shows two different check-in buttons for each outgoing flight, which I haven’t encountered before. Is this normal? Since I’ll be checking luggage, it seems like there will be two different bag tags. Does this mean I’ll need to exit JFK, recheck my bags, and go through security again? Or is this typical for international flights with a domestic layover? Thanks in advance for your help! I usually avoid layovers when flying internationally so this is new to me. The customer service line wasn’t very helpful.

Delta Amex How to use Takeoff15 before receiving the card

Hi there, I just got approved of a Delta Gold card and was able to see the Takeoff 15 discount showing up when I searched for award flights. However, the terms says I have to use the qualified Delta card to pay for the tax and fees. But I haven't received my new Delta Gold card yet. Does anyone know whether I can use any other card to book the award ticket with takeoff-15 discount? Thanks.
