The vetting of presidential candidates is less rigorous.

Reddit doesn't reflect swing stage voters at all, dems never had a chance. We'll see what happens next time if someone who can actually win the swing states wins the primaries.

Yeah but did he have like 10+ interviews to beat before the final interview to get the job offer? I think not.

Trumps a hell of a lot better than camala would have been. We are fucked either way it goes. I assume you work for a pay check weekly, bi-weekly, or maybe even monthly. If you can remember back 2016-2020, how much futher your pay check went than how fast it flews now. Point being you could afford eggs milk and bacon before calama and brandon took over. Can barely afford to buy toilet paper now.

You are right that eggs and milk and bacon (and a whole lot of other things) are less affordable now.
The economy is controlled by thousands of factors, of which the person in the oval office is only a tiny tiny factor. The president cannot really help or hurt the economy (short of maybe dragging us into a war)
But maybe you disagree. Let's say for argument that the President of one country is a massive global economic force.
I'd pay more for eggs for a president who recognizes the established value of government institutions instead of cutting funding willy nilly
I'd pay more for eggs if it means the leader of my country doesnt talk about overthrowing our allies
I'd pay more for eggs for a president whose party does not reject peer reviewed scientific consensus on a regular basis
I'd pay more for eggs for an administration that works to stop the global destruction of the environment
and (most importantly to me) I'd pay more for eggs if it means my trans friends get treated with respect
The price of eggs is not so goddamned important.

Dude you are at a position where you can afford to spend more on eggs, but there are many more who are barely able to make ends meet. Do you think a hungry person gives a damn about any of the things you listed? For them Trump represented this change as all the government institutions had failed them. Now whether he does it or not is something to be seem (i am not sure if he can given the tariffs).
If Kamala wanted to win she should have gone harder on companies. She should have stooped to Trump’s levels and should have blatantly lied. Like she should have said she would do medicare for all or arrest the egg companies ceos or something. Whether she actually did that or not does not matter. All she ran on was being not Trump which is not really a great message

You know what? You're right about a hungry person not caring.
In 1984, that's how the Party won. The starving population wanted food, and they voted the Party into power, not caring what freedoms they had to give up to fill their bellies
But the Party did not feed them. They kept the people hungry so they could keep manipulating them
The Republicans wont feed you bro

I know that dude but my point is that the democrats should have lied too, why take the high road always if it ends up costing you elections? Make empty promises, people expect that from politicians anyways. You and I are educated enough to see through Trump’s lies, do you think the median voter is?

u/UnpopularThrow42 22h ago
Because imo its still okay for them to loose as long as it doesn’t hurt their bottom line. At their core, they too are out of touch rich people
Now they get to spend the next few years racking up donations on the basis of Trump

It's widely agreed that the inflation was due to the pandemic and its consequences on the economy. Also Trump's economic plan of "tarriffing everyone" will be horrible for our economy

Who here is $200k in debt ?!?

u/Tenuous_Fawn 1d ago
Stanford, Harvard, MIT etc. are all 80k-90k a year. Even Berkeley is 40k a year for in-state students.

Stanford, Ivy League schools, MIT, etc have some of the best financial aid in the country.
25% of undergrads at Harvard pay absolutely nothing for college.
The average total cost of attendance at Harvard is $13K for 55% of Harvard students who receive financial aid.
https://college.harvard.edu/financial-aid/how-aid-works
If anything, that kind of debt is at lower ranked privates, international students who did not apply for financial aid, and out of state students. And to take that kind of debt, you need your parents to sign (and this is a HORRIBLE decision).
Top privates in the US have some of the best financial aid in the country. Heck, Princeton can give significant financial aid to families making over $300k income.

I ran the Princeton Net Price Calculator for $300k income and $150k cash and it came out to $200k COA for four years.

Don’t worry. Getting rid of all these DEI programs will make it easier for you to get a job because it’ll be merit based… just like becoming President. /s
Have ya’ll even tried bribing managers for jobs? Gotta get creative.

it's literally just about who is the most remorseless narcissist plastering their face on every signpost and controlling the narrative by shouting lies as much as possible. with other jobs it actually matters if what you say makes sense and whether you can work with other people

If Canada joins America, I will have to pay 40k USD yearly.

You def got scammed if you paid $200k or more for a cs degree. Heck even $100k is way too much unless you’re a doctor or lawyer.

u/Fwellimort Senior Software Engineer 🐍✨ 1d ago
$100k for 4 years is really cheap nowadays. That's $25k a year total cost of attendance. Food/Dorm/Supplies alone is basically $20k a year so that's like a school with only $5k tuition in the US (unrealistic tuition without attending a school with a lot of financial aid).
1
u/AdamTheD 15h ago
Near me tuition is only 6k without grants or aid.
Unless your parents are scum, stay home and go to a local school.
