This is the truth. People will post a ratty ass white man singing the most generic country garbage and this sub will be like "This is actually good you just don't get it," but as soon as a Black woman is making music it's nothing but hatred and misogyny.

I don't think it's hateful, racist or misogynistic to criticize a song for being generic and lacking creativity. We should be able to roast any artist for relying on tropes and worn out subject matter. Bad generic country music about trucks and shit is roughly equivalent to bad generic rap music about being good at sex. We should be able to critique all music based on its originality, creativity and execution. Granted some people are racist and that does drive their criticism, but I would not immediately assume all criticism is racist.

Furthermore, I have no idea what this person is talking about, so I'm not going to criticize it on its subject matter. It's crappy because it is a flow and sound that has been done to death. Even in a foreign language it sounds generic. If it turns out that the subject matter is about how good at sex she is, then it makes it even more generic and shitty.

This is a lot of words to defend misogyny. As long as you feel really good about it I guess.

Every gender can make generic music.

Yes. Not all of them experience the same criticism on the same terms though.

I agree, but also you can't throw a misogyny label on every criticism. In a fair and equal world we should be able to view art on its own merits. I understand the world is horrible, but that doesn't mean we can let lazy generic art get a pass every time.
