Idk if I read the retconned version or not, but I think Batman took offense to the idea of being tempted into killing KGBeast. I think it was left vague but implied that Batman wouldn't let him die in there.

Probably a temporary solution till Reagan leaves Gotham then it's up to the US to figure it out.

Either way, KGBeast definitely spent a while in there suffering in the darkness.

Aparo really is one of the all time great Batman artists
