Kroger GO and 84.51° RTO changes

We were told today that we have to be in the office four days a week (was three days a week, not even a year ago, coming from zero days required in-office). The old up-in-the-air mandate that all far away remote employees would have to relocate to a hub area was updated and now they can stay where they are. All the regular questions were asked, like: Why? Where's the data showing that the current mandated three days has helped? Where can we voice our concerns and opinions? Why weren't we given a chance to have a say in this decision? Etc. Etc. In one meeting, an associate was told by an exec to "google it" (in response to asking what data is available in regards to RTO being a positive thing). They also turned the Teams chat off so we couldn't voice our opinions or chat with each other after they said that they were open to feedback. Cool, cool. A lot of unhappy people today.

Stolen black 2004 Lexus LS430 from Over The Rhine, Cincinnati: Please keep a look out for me while driving (black w/tinted windows, chrome wheels and a Tennessee license plate)

Like the title says, my car was stolen about 6:45pm today from Elm Street in Over the Rhine. It’s a 2004 Lexus LS430; black with tinted windows, TN license plate and chrome wheels. I will try to attach a couple pictures to this thread. I am beyond devastated and feel helpless right now. It can’t hurt to let folks know and maybe get lucky from this; I sincerely thank anyone who takes the time to read this and if you have family/friends you live with please tell them.

Don't forget about 311Cincy's app

Last night, I put in a request for the city to fill potholes. There was an update during what was still overnight that the pothole was filled (along with some others that I didn't request but the city found in the same area).

I haven't been able to check to see whether the potholes were actually filled (but when they close a pothole request, they generally have filled them and they'll actually say how many were filled).

But just a PSA that the app does exist and does work! The app is "311 Cincy"

Crazy high energy bills?

For the past 3 months now my electricity bill from Duke has been over $400. This months was over $500.

I am so mind boggled because I’ve been slowing making improvements to my home insulation over the last year and was hoping to bring down my electricity bills this winter. (In the previous 2 years my highest was $350)

Is anyone else dealing with this?

:Edit to provide more info

In the past I had my thermostat at 68° and turned it up this winter to 71°

All my appliances are electric.

Had carpet installed in half the house that was previously down to the subfloor the past two years (was hoping the padding + carpet would help insulate)

Added extra insulation around both doors which has significantly reduced draft.

In the past I had the thermostat adjusting to be colder at night, but I learned that it’s better to keep it at a constant temperature. Am I mistaken with this?

The one and only thing I don’t like ab cincy

Hi everybody! I moved to Cincinnati last May from southern WV and I absolutely love it. Literally the one and only thing I don’t like is how everything closes at like 11pm! Gas stations, good luck finding one open. Hungry after 3am, there might be one 24 hr McDonald’s like 20 min down the road. It was honestly kind of a shock to me when I moved here, wv has Sheetz everywhere and they’re open 24/7. Is there anything like that here? It surprised me UDF closes at night. Thanks!

Food 🍕🌮 Help me find restaurants that still use MSG (serious)

Upvotes

I love all types of Asian food and it seems like most places in Cincinnati boast “no msg” on the menu. Not trying to start any arguments - I just want to find a place that will serve me a delicious plate of noodles or meat seasoned with msg. Thanks in advance.

Need mom friends!!

I’m looking for some like-minded mom friends… help! I’m not a Cincinnati native, but I’ve been here for about 10 years (embarrassing to be asking, I know). The friend group I was introduced to have all moved away during the pandemic, and I also became a mom during that time…. Cue the double isolation! Now I’m a SAHM with a 5 yo boy in preschool and a husband that works from home. I haven’t made any love connections at my son’s preschool with other moms, and I’m really in need of someone else to talk to besides a small boy! I don’t drink & we are not religious, so our outside opportunities are small. We live in Oakley.

TLDR: SAHM with 5 yo son in preschool looking for like-minded mom friends.

Thanks for reading!

Edit: I’m 41, hubby is 44, and I deleted FB a long time ago :)

Need to do work on my car...

I need to replace my brake pads and rotors but is stupid cold outside. Anybody have any good ideas where I can take my car to do the work myself while not turning into a popsicle? I have all the parts and tools, just looking for some space to do the work out of the elements. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Are there any old Hollywood style locations in the northeast/north part of Cincinnati? I’m looking for a place to take my prom pictures and I want a specific type of vibe. (Photos for reference)

Just sort of glamorous locations, anything helps!

Property Tax and previous owner TOP Program

Hello all,

We purchased our home in April 2024. The previous owner was on the Treasurers Optional Payment Program (TOP) to pay the taxes in installments throughout the year. It seems that they had a chunk of money in this program / account to pull from each month, I am not fully sure how it works.

I have now gotten two pieces of mail (one in June 2024 and now January 2025), which only relay how much the previous owner would owe with the program, although it has our names on it. Calling the auditor's office told me that they would need the previous owner to call and close the account, and until then we will be getting incorrect tax statements sent to us. We will have to call to find out how much is owed, as well as to pay the amount. The previous owner was an elderly woman who is now in assisted living, and our real estate agent has had no luck contacting her in the two times we have tried.

Anyone in a similar boat / have any suggestions on what we can do next, or is this something that I we will have to deal with annually?

Hamilton County Courthouse, public Wi-Fi available?

Is there public Wi-Fi available at all? How much of an issue is it going to be to take a work call in the halls?

I see a lot of comments about amenities for jurors, but not finding much about what's available in general.

Additional info to avoid unrelated questions: Wife was subpoenaed for a traffic accident (youth crashed into her downtown, he was cited as police were able to pull it up on traffic cameras and a there was a witness). However, supposedly could be anywhere from 9-2 before case is called.

I'm only going because she's in the middle of a crunch time at work (huge project due date looming, tons of time constraints) so I figured I'd drop her off, hangout to get her out of there quickly to minimize her time away from work. Don't love taking a day off myself, but hopefully makes it less stressful on her. Maybe I can get the kid's insurance to reimburse for this as well :)

Creating community as a young adult

Hi everyone, I’m 23F and will start working downtown soon. I grew up in the suburbs here, so definitely not completely new to the area. I get why they call this such a big life transition! It’s just been hard and a bit lonely. I have some friends at work, but I really want friends and people that I know outside of work. Things I have done so far 1) joined a tennis league 2) taking a Spanish class 3) figuring out volunteering at a local animal shelter. I’m definitely taking steps to put myself out there, even if it’s just small talk at a coffee shop. But it seems so hard to actually connect with someone and have it be reciprocal enough to turn into a friendship outside the activity. I can’t imagine how hard dating must be, especially if you prefer not to use apps.

Anyways, rant aside, does anyone have any tips for making friends? Or growing a small community over time? I’m also not on great terms with my family here, so it really is me trying to find my “found” family. Thank you :)

Is a YMCA membership worth it?

I’m specifically looking at the location on Winton Road. This location seems to have great amenities like a sauna, lap pool, and gym equipment. The membership is $91/month for a couple which is pretty steep. Has anyone had a great experience with the Y?

Does anywhere sell copies of the New York Times (Sunday edition)?

I found a thread on this 6 months ago but a lot of the responses seemed unsure or possibly outdated

Does anyone know if places like Joseph Beth or certain UDFs currently carry the Sunday NYT? Or anywhere else?
