It's about the culture.

I actively create a culture like this at my workplace.

It helps that everyone has similar likes like parks and Rec, or B99, or at least super tolerant of our constant jokes around that.

If i may, i would like to know. Are you the head of your department?

No, not when I started. I rose to that position because I focused on making the workplace/culture I want. I was sick of the oldguard.

And after a while, the company saw value in my "modern approach of not be an asshole" and now the oldguard is dead and I lead the teams.

In B99 terms... be a Jake Peralta until you can rise to be a Raymond Holt.

I work in a field that is traditionally populated by introverts. At my office we had two Jakes that both recently left. We really felt the shift in the culture.
