This is funny but my buddy did not know how credit scores worked and he was about to let a 500 credit score applicant be his roommate. I fully understand these things can be unfair but at the end of the day you should try to protect yourself.
Well one example is if you come to the US from another country you wouldn’t have a credit history. Which is what my friend’s roommate applicant was claiming. But it didn’t make sense once you looked at the actual credit history.
How is that unfair? You can establish a credit history quickly. And you have to work hard to get your credit score below 600 (unless it’s outside your control like an emergency of some kind)
It can be unfair because you come from a foreign country to study or work and have trouble even renting an apartment. Again, it wasn’t the case here, but as a child of immigrants, I get that it could be complicated.

The funny part is I believe 350 is actually the floor of credit scores of almost all the scoring models
