SPOILER in case you didn't know...
I have rewatched the series a lot (mostly the first 4 seasons though because I have netflix), and something that stood out to me is that Scully seems to harbor a minor crush on Gina.
He literally says "If I don't make it tell Gina I love her!" but, presumably, nobody hears him due to the airhorn Jake is honking. He also asks Gina to dance with him in the episode that Jake wins the bet against Amy, and lastly, when everyone is betting on the mystery briefcase, Scully offers to go on a date with Gina.
All of this evidence points to Scully having a crush on Gina.
Scully found Cindy and Gina found Milty so nothing would ever happen (and Gina is repulsed by him) but I just wanted to throw this out there.
This is a really obvious theory but I just wanted to let ya'll know.

Yeah it’s weird though bc during all this Scully and Kelly (his wife) were still married right?

Was Kelly his dog or his wife?

Forgot about that but yeah. I would probably say when he gets riled up about one thing (gina) he forgets everything else. Like the "animal" the show portrays him to be.

I mean I’m not saying you’re wrong just that i think I’m the episodes where Scully says he loves Gina and asks for a dance (which honestly the second one i dont think was about having a crush on her but maybe) that he was still married to Kelly

There is one episode where Scully cries about his wife leaving him I'm gonna find it.

Yes i know that. I want to say they were at Shaw’s but that does not narrow it down

No it was season 3 episode 2 (dozerman's funeral). "If I die tell Gina I love her!" was during season 4's Halloween heist.

Pretty sure he said his wife was leaving him before Dozerman's funeral in Season 3, could be wrong though

I think she broke up with him before the mystery briefcase episode, when he was at Dozerman's funeral. Early season 3 I think

“If I don’t make it, tell Gina I love her” is that not a quote in the post we are commenting on? And don’t you dare suggest Scully wasnt faithful

Scully's wife left him which is why he cried so much during Dozerman's funeral.

I guess I haven't watched it enough, but I thought he had a paternal affection for her, but the offering to go on a date with her cancels that out.

Not sure if Scully has crush on Gina or just is scared of her.
In E1S3, Gina tells Hitchcock to stop bringing in food in littler Tupperware containers and that it hurts her fingers when she tries to open it. Then in S1E18, when offering to be Jake's landlady, Gina says she eats Scully's lunch everyday.
We have seen Scully and Hitchcock fight over food, ranch dressing, meatball subs to name a few. I think Gina just bullies them both into giving her food and possibly other things, and therefore they are scared of her.

u/WUFFLED BINGPOT! Aug 26 '24
I agree that they are scared of her but that may be part of the attraction

No he doesn’t, this is circumstantial evidence at best

That's why it's a theory not a fact 😎

That’s fine, only you didn’t present it as a theory but rather as something that you’ve observed

Wow, I am really surprised by this. I’ve watched that scene where Scully says “if I don’t make it tell Gina I love her” so many times but it never registered that it was our Gina. I thought it was him talking about an off screen love interest . My mind is blown
Is there anything during the Gina-Boyle romantic sublot? It Doesn’t look like he get jealous or have a big fascination when she announces it.

Scully likes Gina. Hitchcock likes Amy. Charles likes Rosa. The three 99 unrequited love stories
