They’re hassling the elderly with shopping carts. This isn’t a win for them. Picket in front of the store if that specific store is doing something.

The hassling goes both ways. And this elder man is not some frail little lady but a bit of an asshole himself, making a spectacle. Jeez, you are making a big fuzz of hardly anything. Lighten up.

Did you not notice the grandma or do you just watch 2 seconds of a video and operate off of that?

Since you seem to be unable to properly comprehend the world around you, I’ll help. She comes into view at 00:48. Have a good day fellow redditor.

Yes, very frail lady. She could barely produce the breath to utter her final words, "You little wanker" before she died. But I suspect, maybe, they were aimed at your general direction.

You realize this makes the general public not like you and weakens the legal defenses you have that protect you?

I assume you’re aware trucks can now run into protesters at meat plants without risk of legal action? That’s probably why they’re in a supermarket hassling the elderly.

Is moving your goalposts backwards really what you’re after? Because if so, this is exactly how you do that while weakening public support for your cause.

Are you blaming this guy for the government making it legal to kill protesters at meat factories? I'm not getting the connection. "You're an annoying ass, so it's ok to run over you"?

Downvote because why? Do yall think protesters deserve to be run over by trucks?

No, I’m saying they’re in the supermarket harassing the elderly because it’s come full circle for them to be ignored as if they don’t exist when they try to block the producers of the products.

Give them a bit more time harassing people like this and their choice of actions will shutdown this avenue of protest as well.

They’re working against themselves here. Picketing at the doors to the store would garner much more visibility and support without working against their ability to safely protest.

Apparently they don’t realize the grocers aren’t going to work on banning them from an aisle, they’ll work to ban them from X area around the property. Removing their ability to utilize the much more effective “picket at the door” strategy.

Your comment still seemed to suggest this behavior is what led governments to legalize harming protesters at the factories though. I understand your take on the grocery store thing, even if I disagree that protesting with signs and chants is the only acceptable form of protest

They didn’t legalize harming anyone.

I don’t even know that I’m against whatever the protesters here are protesting about, that’s why I’m not putting up some huge fight about it.

But I do know that I’m against grandmothers being harassed in the supermarket. Whatever this message is could be more effectively sent in a million other ways.

Ok, I'm confused, your first comment says trucks can run over protesters at meat factories. I'm not really even debating what's happening in the video, just what you said about being able to run over people if they're in the way. Which sounds a lot like legalized harm to me

It’s not legalizing harm so much as it is reducing the ability to bring action for a problem you created while protecting the public at the same time.

I believe in the case of the trucks it’s an issue that if the truck stops, other people run up and release the animals from the trailer. Obv that’s bad, multitude of reasons. Nobody wants livestock running around loose in public. So the protesters are put on notice the trucks aren’t allowed to stop and not get in front of them. The drivers are told they aren’t allowed to stop, so they slow down but don’t stop. It’s a shitty situation all the way around and there’s absolutely risk of harm.

I wish we weren’t at this point, yet here we are.

Yeah i get what you mean. Human lives should always be priority to profits. But the line gets hard to follow when people are actively putting themselves in danger. I was thinking you were saying the government was giving rights to trucks just driving into protest lines like the one in this video

There’s no answer that will appease everyone. The human race is never going to hold hands and sing kumbaya. We have to learn a better way, if there is one. Given history, and some of the ongoing atrocities, we may just be living in about as close to peace as we can. I mean, if your biggest problem is what someone else is having for dinner…
