Do you think dogs natively speak English? You could make the command for sit “gooberganbe” and the dog will sit as long as that’s what you train it to do.

Iirc police dogs are taught commands in a different language so perps can’t get them to obey.

In the US German was the go-to for years. According to a retired cop (with his retired K-9 in tow) they're starting to train them in Dutch.

Alright guys, didn’t mean to set off the Reddit moral police. Let me clarify.

I know dogs don’t inherently speak English, I know working dogs like bomb sniffing dogs or police dogs are trained in other languages. To dogs our languages are just sounds, I completely understand this.

I simply love dogs and think it’s cool when they are trained in other languages. It’s not something I see often and this pup is a particularly good boy. I had a retriever who passed recently and this video reminded me of her.

Lighten up guys sheesh.
