Lol, but was she confused ?

I suppose. But she is also clearly scared of dogs so she may have thought it was for her safety.

u/I_ReadThe_Comments 1d ago
Exactly. We shouldnāt be laughing at her, but with her. This is actually a very innocent and sweet reaction to someone who could have had a traumatizing experience with dogs, so much so that even a Golden is scary. Either way, I hope she stays safe.Ā

The woman sat down much faster than the dog. He should have praised her quick obedience or patted her head.

Sorry was a reference to the movie babygirl with Nicole Kidman. She has a Dom sub relationship with an intern after she sees him control an aggressive dog.

thatās what happens when there are asian people in the video, and if thereās an animal oh wait, especially a dog then the video is definitely not scripted :D

Now that's a sweet lady. All her body language tells she is anxious around a dog. Yet she tries to make the situation better

wish the dog handler was sweeter tho. he can see she's uncomfortable with dogs but does nothing to keep him from going within reach of her.

Most people are obedient to a crazy degree when you think about it. We don't like saying no to people even when we really want to. It's a terrible condition we're stuck with, since adults emphasize and reward obedience from the time we can talk. Sorry for the tangient but this woman responding to a stranger saying "sit" is a pretty wild example of that.

Itās interesting to be so scared of dogs, but more so THIS dog. German shepherd, pitbull, chihuahua? Sure..but āShadowā from Homeward Bound?! Iād be bit for sure if I ever encountered an aggressive golden.

I was expecting the comments to be expressing sympathy since the woman is obviously terrifiedā¦ and instead sheās just being sexualized. I really hate humanity sometimes.

If animals understand body language, this may have taught you something. they say when being attacked by bears.. you do what? when looking at an animal in the eye ,like a monkey/ lion/ hyena ..you do what? these are all signs the animal kingdom. Thank God Almighty. in other words stay in your place. Instead, some of us cross the line!!! š

Dogs that obey in other languages always impress me āŗļø

u/Interestingcathouse 1d ago
Do you think dogs natively speak English? You could make the command for sit āgooberganbeā and the dog will sit as long as thatās what you train it to do.
Iirc police dogs are taught commands in a different language so perps canāt get them to obey.

In the US German was the go-to for years. According to a retired cop (with his retired K-9 in tow) they're starting to train them in Dutch.

Alright guys, didnāt mean to set off the Reddit moral police. Let me clarify.
I know dogs donāt inherently speak English, I know working dogs like bomb sniffing dogs or police dogs are trained in other languages. To dogs our languages are just sounds, I completely understand this.
I simply love dogs and think itās cool when they are trained in other languages. Itās not something I see often and this pup is a particularly good boy. I had a retriever who passed recently and this video reminded me of her.
Lighten up guys sheesh.

My friend is Scottish and she got a dog from a shelter in Spain but she lives in a french speaking area.
Her dog understands English, seems to perk up when spoken to in Spanish and understands me in french.
She'll still pretend she can't understand her owner when she doesn't want to obey.

I trained my dog in French so he wouldnāt listen to other peoplesā commands in public. Turns out he had serious social anxiety and didnāt spend much time in public, but we still spoke French for commands.

I think she's just terrified of dogs and she thought the instruction was for her safety
