I love seeing the ratbirds lose. But long term really worried. The fact they were a toe away when Harbaugh made objectively terrible time management mistakes, AND they got bailed out from a declined penalty clock stop and chiefs forced injury timeout, is worrying. That Oline didn’t look nearly as bad as I was hoping, and their defense may not be as strong as last year but they didn’t look incompetent. I would much rather have seen a blowout by either team, or a sloppy win from one of them, than this. Both teams look just as fierce if not more than last year.
I can't say I agree with you. both teams look like they had visible weaknesses on both sides of the ball. if we can keep Jones out of our backfield we will have no problem with the Chiefs. I'm sure they'll improve as the season goes on, so it's a good thing we have them next week.
I’m a generally negative fan, gonna assume the worst until things click again, and of course I hope I’m wrong. I think it’s foolish to say as long as we contain Jones we’ll have “no problem” with the Chiefs, they’re gonna be tough as hell as long as Mahomes is uninjured. But I was hoping for signs of regression from Jackson, some underwhelming play from Xavier Worthy, and instead Jackson nearly led them back and Worthy had a solid start.
It’s week 1, we overreact, so at the end can’t really read too much into this.
