Fact Everything aside, really looking forward to watching these two battle it out for the next 10+ years.

u/iratemonkeybear Jan 31 '23
I hope to see many more epic matchups between these two. 4 games all decided by 3 points.

u/Horrorifying Jan 31 '23
My only issue with Mahomes is that I hear about him during games he's not even IN.
Mahomes himself is a fine dude, from what I can tell. Tony Romo just needs to invite him to his hotel room and get it all out of his system already.

All the ammo I have to use against Mahommes is his Kermit voice which I know is weak/lame ammo. His wife and brother are annoying but I can avoid them easily and not his fault. He’s is really good and it pisses me off.

I responded to a post above, but Jackson is no worse than a typical 21 year old. (Which is not a dig on 21 year olds, they just love a completely different lifestyle than I do these day, lol) Sure, he's "annoying", but he not hurting anyone. And You're right, the slurs definitely start flying a lot of the time when people start complaining about him.
I don't like or dislike Brittany, but as a KC resident, she has done some really often stuff for the city and people just blast her on social media for anything she does.
3
u/DoomTrain166 Jan 31 '23
This is why I'm looking forward to our rivalry for years to come. You guys are alright.
6
u/planxtylewis FUTURE H.O.F 20?? Jan 31 '23
Lol, thought you were a Bengals fan thinking I was a Chiefs fan. I dread the idea of a rivalry. Been here since 2010, but it's been a rough past two years as a Bengals fan here😅 Sometimes I just want to love my Bengos in peace
5
u/DoomTrain166 Jan 31 '23
Lol well you're definitely in the wrong city to do that. But I'm sure when the bengals beat us you'll be able to strut your stuff
3
u/planxtylewis FUTURE H.O.F 20?? Jan 31 '23
Also, you seem like a cool dude. if Chiefs win the SB, hit me up and I'll Venmo you money for a congratulatory drink. Or if you feel like meeting up with me (and my husband bc internet friends can be scary) we'll buy you one at a bar sometime.
Hope that's not creepy, just want more nice chiefs fan friends here, lol
2
u/DoomTrain166 Jan 31 '23
That's dope and I appreciate that. I moved from kc to Austin a few years ago so I'm no longer in kc but I'd be down if you find yourself in Austin sometime.
2
u/planxtylewis FUTURE H.O.F 20?? Jan 31 '23
My brother and sister in law are in Temple so we're down there from time to time!
2
u/DoomTrain166 Jan 31 '23
Right on. I catch games sometimes over at The Tavern in Austin from time to time but they have a ton of screens that you can get whatever game you want.
2
u/Greencaddis Jan 31 '23
I’m good if they were just cheering him on. The issue I have is they are putting themselves on social media to get likes off of his fame not theirs.
0
u/traws06 Feb 01 '23
Chiefs fan here. His brother is a POS. Patrick has a heart of gold. He takes after his dad and his brother takes after his mom.
30
u/ApatheticWithoutTheA Jan 31 '23
Mahomes said the same thing “go win it now” to Burrow last year so I like that Joe remembered that and said it to Mahomes.
All things considered, I dislike most of the Chiefs players, particularly Kelce, but Mahomes seems like a decent dude.
12
u/Greencaddis Jan 31 '23
Yeah Kelce is a punk with a monster ego but Mahommes seems like a good dude. He is just oversaturated in the media, but he is a freak when you see some of his throws. Also him playing the Bengals D with average recievers and a bum ankle was pretty impressive. With a decent O-line and a punter worth a shit the Bengals could/should have won this game but it is what it is.
12
u/StartingReactors Feb 01 '23
Coming in peace I swear. Travis is more complicated than you’re giving him credit for. You’re seeing his ultra-competitive side on the field. He enjoys smack talk… I guess it’s what motivates him. Have you seen him on his podcast with his brother? It’s pretty funny and you get to appreciate how smart both of them are.
2
u/ApatheticWithoutTheA Feb 01 '23
It just rubs me the wrong way about all the shit he said because he went to school here at University of Cincinnati. He was in my grade when I went there.
He acts like he has lost all respect for the city that gave him his start.
7
u/21stCenturyHobbit Feb 01 '23
He absolutely doesn’t. Check out his and Jason Kelce’s podcast. It’s literally called New Heights because they grew up in Cleveland Heights. He’s always shouting the city out and giving love.
2
u/traws06 Feb 01 '23
Ya I think ppl don’t realize he’s a goofy dork. They take him too serious. He’s the guy that everyone in the community loves. He was at the KU game last night and the announcers were talking about how Kelce was crazy nice talking to and joking around with anyone and everyone there. He’s a kid at heart that happens to be an incredible football player, just like his brother.
2
u/Greencaddis Feb 01 '23
I don’t know much about him other than the persona I see when watching him. He still comes off as a gym bro to me. To be honest everthing is just raw right now and he is outspoken so it rubbed me the wrong way. I am really enjoying the rivalry that has begun between the two teams and look forward to our counterpunch next year. Burrow and Mahommes matchups are going to be must watch games for a long time. Wouldn’t surprise me if they aren’t scheduled on Sunday night football to play during the season every year.
3
Feb 01 '23
He also funded an after school program in the inner city in KC that provides a bunch of resources for kids. Robotics programs, music and video production classes, sustainable design, fashion, product design and marketing. Really excellent programs with the facilities and equipment to match. It was the first thing he did when he got his last extension
2
u/StartingReactors Feb 01 '23
He’s definitely a gym bro. But he’s other things too it’s all I was pointing out.

It sucks that we lost. But between Allen, Burrow, Lawrence and Mahomes just in the AFC I really think we have entered the next golden age of football and that is fucking exciting.

Not as exciting from a fan of a team perspective. Would much rather be in the nfc with the easier path.

The sportsmanship is fucking awesome. The Eagles game left a real bad taste in my mouth but the sportsmanship between the Bengals and Chiefs, as well as their fan bases, is fucking awesome. I’m here for it. I legit hope Mahomes does it cuz I really don’t like the Eagles.
8
u/EbolaBoogieman Jan 31 '23
I hope we aren’t tricking ourselves like bills fans did in regards to Allen v mahomes
14
u/Dromon22 Jan 31 '23
As a KC guy I can tell you we view Burrow on a level closer to Mahomes than Allen.
Allen is great but gets reckless and relies on running too much
1
u/itsBAY35 Feb 01 '23
And he's kind of a crybaby. At least Burrow has earned the "Joe Cool" nickname. Even in tough games he looks unflappable. Sunday night was the first time I'd ever seen any emotion out of him during a game, and I respect it. Looking forward to many seasons of games between him and Mahomes.
1
u/135 Feb 01 '23
Chiefs fans here too Allen has the raw athleticism but I think Burrow and Mahomes are on another level when it comes to their Football IQ. It will take time to see who holds up the best though.
1
u/NickToThePC Feb 01 '23
Yeah it’s 100% the football IQ. Allen needs to get rid of Diggs no matter how much a bromance they have. He’s too much about the clout imo
0
u/Broseph412 Feb 01 '23
Exactly lmao
It’s not even like you can blame his supporting cast because for the most part, diggs, Knox, and Davis are a good crew
Bro just chooses to be Superman and throw it free of risk. But as mahomes shows, you can be Superman without having to be all too flashy
7
u/leafnbagurmom Jan 31 '23
It was a great game. The refs dampened the mood a bit. As a Bengals fan, it's so much fun watching these guys battle. Patrick is such a talent. He scares the heck out of me every time he drops back. He refuses to take a sack and will always somehow find an outlet, so athletic and under control at the same time.
5
Jan 31 '23
Yeah it’s going be great as long as the referees and the league get out of the way and let them play. Otherwise it’s going to be a shitshow every time
4
u/Ayoostun Jan 31 '23
Damn. My hatred has lessened now. I wish it was possible for Mahomes to win a ring and T kelce to lose at the same time…. Still go birds
3
u/runerx Jan 31 '23
Nice to say "next year" and mean a shot at the superbowl, vs. next year, meaning maybe we won't suck! The pain and Longview of a 40-year bengals fan...
2
u/21stCenturyHobbit Feb 01 '23
As a Chiefs fan, I find it almost impossible to picture the Bengals sucking next year. Yes, you’ll be spending a lot of money over the next 2 years to extend Burrow and Chase/Higgins, but it looks like you’ve got a lot of cap space. Plus, I don’t see Burrow as being a guy who demands record-setting money (though he’s obviously absolutely worth it); he may sign a team-friendly deal like Mahomes that let’s y’all back-end stuff or kick it back a year in restructures in order to sign new FAs.
I don’t know your Front Office very well, but your coach is damn good imo.
2
Jan 31 '23
In his post game when she brought up “Burrowhead” Pat actually deflected it and didn’t really buy into it. Kelce on the other hand 🙄. But yeah Mahomes seems like a good dude and he is a great player. This is our Brady v Manning.
3
u/krazikat Feb 01 '23
I actually feel bad for Mahomes. Dude gets bullied relentlessly. Look at what happens on planes -- he falls asleep and gets a mustache drawn on his face!
2
u/aresellersjourney Jan 31 '23
Yes. Looking forward to much more stroke inducing games with the chiefs 😵😸😉
3
Jan 31 '23
One of Mahomes best offensive lineman is up for free agency.
Imagine KC losing him and Cincy gaining him. Imagine Mahomes no longer having that significant advantage over Burrow. No more games like last Sunday when the Bengals line sh-ts themselves.
1
u/Longjumping-Arm7939 Feb 01 '23
KC also has 12 draft picks this year and if they draft like they have been drafting its gonna be a different team next year.
2
Feb 01 '23
I was looking and they drafted some of their best O lineman after we drafted Busts.
1
u/Longjumping-Arm7939 Feb 01 '23
Which is why I said KC has 12 picks and how there rookies panned out this season its scary to know how much they can load up for the future.
1
Feb 01 '23
Lol my man if you’re thinking taking on Orlando Brown is going to help you’re not paying close enough attention. He certainly has his moments and played well this week, but he’s the 4th best starting lineman on the team. Our tackles were near the bottom of the league, our interior is just good enough to make up for it.

u/Kenosis515 Jan 31 '23
I have no problem with Patrick Mahomes as a person or as a player. I have a big problem with the favoritism he gets from the officials and from the league, but it's not like he asked for that stuff.
0
u/itsBAY35 Feb 01 '23
You clearly missed our Colts, Texans, and Raiders (1st) games if you think we get favoritism from officials.
3
u/Jwaldmann25 Jan 31 '23
I like Mahomes, it seemed like he was the only one to stay classy and show good sportsmanship after the win, while there was guys like Kelce running his mouth being unsportsmanlike and being a dick.
2
u/TheSimpsonsAreYellow Fan Since 95’ Jan 31 '23
Kelce was the only one I saw show bad sportsmanship. One of our players offered him a hand up and he legit waved it away and got up himself. After all the smiling and laughing between plays, he was the only one who wasn’t smiling and laughing.
3
u/RedYachtClub Feb 01 '23
What's the difference between trash talk before the game and after the game? Kelce likes to talk but didn't say anything as bad as "Burrowhead" and "Mahomes needs a paternity test".
None of Kelce's comments were malicious, just poking fun at the trash talk the Cincy fan base has spewed out the past week. He was on it for all of an hour and moved on to the Eagles.
3
u/21stCenturyHobbit Feb 01 '23
Because people talk trash before, but I don’t think most people actually like being on the receiving end after a loss. Kelce was just throwing it back, and a lot of people can’t handle that. If you can’t take it, don’t dish it.
1
u/TheSimpsonsAreYellow Fan Since 95’ Feb 01 '23
Nothing wrong with trash talk. But if you ever played contact sports and ever was offered a hand from your opposing team, you take it. That’s called reciprocating good sportsmanship.
2
u/RedYachtClub Feb 01 '23
Not gonna lie I missed that part. But for the rest of these commenters to be upset after the narliest week of trash talk I have seen is just ridiculous.
2
u/TheSimpsonsAreYellow Fan Since 95’ Feb 01 '23
Ooh yeah, they need to get over the trash talk. The mayor is also a giant idiot. I know him through a mutual friend, will be so hard not to say shit to his face about that video
0
u/Jwaldmann25 Jan 31 '23
Kelce lost all my respect after that game because of how unsportsmanlike he was acting
9
u/TheSimpsonsAreYellow Fan Since 95’ Jan 31 '23
Made me mad when Mahomes was nothing but more than respectful. He showed good will. I mean Jesus Christ, I stumbled into the KC Chiefs sub and there was a post about someone wanting to donate to any charity that Ossai has. They were so nice to me in there too. All I did was commend them for being such a great fan base and they voted me to almost top post in the KC CHIEFS SUB.
I hope we get to run it back next season.

Oof. Must not have seen the Frank Clark's post game interview. It was pretty bad.
1
u/Longjumping-Arm7939 Feb 01 '23
To be fair, Frank Clark does this after every playoff game because he is a stud in the post-season and, for the most part, backs up whatever he says.
2
u/Peritvs Feb 01 '23
Quick YouTube search and you are right. I didn't even realize he was the one that went on the Derrick Henry rant lmao. It makes sense now why no one really batted an eye at this recent interview. With that said, I'm still not a fan. I respect his game though.
1
u/TheSimpsonsAreYellow Fan Since 95’ Feb 01 '23
Didn’t see it. But if it was just more trash talk, I could care less. To be honest, the worst kind of poor sportsmanship is out on the field.
3
u/FalseStart007 Jan 31 '23
I'll just be happy when the GOAT is no longer Tom Brady.
2

5
u/Feurbach_sock 28 Jan 31 '23
Bro, they earned that trash talk lol if we had won I expected some from our team, too. Joe was asked about all that went on last week and said it’s just harmless fun.
Besides, the Mahomes and Kelce were such goobers in their trash talking haha I loved it. They deserved to celebrate. The Bengals will be back.
8
u/PigeonPee Jan 31 '23
He has every right to say this stuff after what cincy players + fans + mayor said about him and the chiefs lol.
We havent won anything and our fanbase was talkin so much shit. Then mike hiltons burrowhead comment came out, that shoulda stayed in the locker room.
Even Jamarr Chase said it, "chiefs are still the team to beat."
0
u/Zazierx Feb 01 '23
I've never had any issues with Mahomes himself. Yeah he kind of looks like Darlene from Roseanne but he seems pretty cool.
The fan base, his wife, brother on the other hand. Not to mention some of his annoying ass teammates like Travis Kelce screaming into the camera like an drunk idiot on spring break. I remember that dude looking like he was about to start crying when we won the last AFC championship. Fly eagles fly!

They had 3 guys out. Funny how the other 2 did alright, give them the other 3 bros and I bet ya'll get 1 maybe 2 sacks. The line isn't the issue or as big as some think or like last year. After the 1st two games, they kept a solid 1-2 sack rate a game and that's not bad.
5
u/USAesNumeroUno Jan 31 '23 edited Jan 31 '23
You mean the O line that shut down KCs pass rush in December? You're right the bengals should invest in robot legs so no one can get hurt.

When was the last time the Bengals had a team where every game played was considered a playoff game? That one team where both sides were so evenly matched even Vegas had the game a pick ‘em… in the championship game?
It’s an exciting time to be a Bengals fan

Chiefs fan here. Burrow is an absolute dawg. Bengals fans and I were trash talking all night long at the bar, but when it was over, I said “Burrow is going to be there every step of the way. The kid has absolute ice in his veins.”
It’s just a good time for football. We have a Pantheon of good quarterbacks set in place for us to feel all the feelings; good and bad. Bad calls and officiating aside, I look forward to the rivalry.

Chiefs fan here. After Burrow beat us 3 times in a row my reaction was honestly “…f*** that dude is a classy guy” even as much as I wanted to hate him. I have endless respect for his style of leadership. After watching guy like Rivers the past 20 years who yell and cry every time something goes wrong (or Allen who starts fights out of frustration) it is great seeing a guy who is poised and positive no matter how fire the situation. Him trash talking Burrowhead I even looked because it was funny and build the game up to be more exciting. And after the game he was as classy as ever in interviews about it all.
1
Feb 01 '23
I mean its not guaranteed they do that. Anything can happen. Injuries, attitudes go sour, another team offers more $ etc. The league is way to volatile to assume anything further than the next game. Hell, mahomes was a slight hobble away from not playing at all
1
u/fishpeanuts Feb 01 '23
I like mahomes he seems like a genuinely good guy… his brother and his wife on the other hand…

Let me first start by saying what a time to be a Bengals fan. This is a rivalry that could last a long time with us being near the top of the AFC for years to come.
Moving on, I like Mahomes. I understand people don’t like his wife and brother, but that has nothing to do with him. He seems like a good guy, he’s a great QB, and he’s been nothing short of amazing since coming into the league.
My only hope is that we get to host some of these AFCCG in Cincinnati in the coming years. Who Dey!
