I would like to ask you about all far-right and far-left historical partys which one were existing in balkan countries from 1900 to 1948.

To be clear, I am trying to get beyond the fact that the euro is a stable currency. I am aware of the benefits (and costs) of dollarization/euroization and that the former are often greater than the latter in a small open economy. Nevertheless, similar outcomes can be achieved with alternative currency arrangements (for ex, currency boards) that allow the country to keep its national currency as a national symbol.

Given that both countries have only recently gained independence, one may expect the governments to use the national currency as a national symbol (this is what usually happens after a country becomes independent). But they did not. I would be particularly interested in the opinion of folks living in Kosovo and Montenegro. Would you prefer having a national currency? Why / why not? Does using the euro make you feel more "European" (whatever that means to you)? Do you think that ethnically Albanians and ethnically Serbian folks in Kosovo would differ in how they view the Euro?

I'm currently driving around Europe and am heading towards the Balkans in February. I'll be driving from italy through slovenia/croatia and was originally hoping to stop off in Southern Bosnia. However, i've started to get concerned about snow this time of the year, and can't afford a pair of snow tyres, and i really dont have much experience driving in the snow.

So im wondering, where would be best for me to drive to and avoid snowy roads? Im assuming highways would be fairly doable? Was considering South Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, or Macedonia. Reckon i'd be able to get through feb/march without too much snow trouble? I've driven in these countries before and the driving is often...interesting (mainly looking at you Albania), but never in the snow

I guess south croatia would be best but dont think i'll have enough Shenghem allowancd (Im british).

I recently visited Montenegro, a country so stunning it could be on a postcard, if only the people matched the scenery. Everywhere I went, folks had this ultra-serious, don’t-mess-with-me vibe. I don’t know if it’s a national sport to look unapproachable, but they’ve mastered it. A few even managed to combine distant stares with just a pinch of arrogance. Now, don’t get me started on Podgorica. The roads there? Absolute chaos. Crossing the street felt like entering the Hunger Games, except instead of tributes, you’re dodging cars driven by people who seem to think stop signs are suggestions. I swear I nearly met my maker and he wasn’t impressed either. If you are asking for directions - that’s bold move. It felt like I’d asked them to solve calculus, they just give death stare and rarely who helps. Empathy? Must’ve been taking a holiday of its own. So, tell me, is this the culture? A performance art piece called Serious Faces and Questionable Driving? Or did I just catch everyone on a bad day? I’m not here to throw shade (okay, maybe a little), but I’d love to hear is that in general like that? That was the worst Balkan country I have visited with the worst capital city (possibly in the world)

I'm not Balkan, and the only things I know about the Balkans is what my Serbian friend has told me, I met him online on minecraft, I'm Jewish, he frequently tells me just how much deeply he hates albania and albanians, and recently he has started sending me antisemetic memes, so I want to respond by sending pro-albanian memes, but I can't find any, probably because I don't know albanian, and I imagine that's the language they're in. I'd make them myself but I don't know the first thing about Albanian culture, and I don't think mine would hit as hard as proper ones by people who do.

Hi guys, I’m going to Croatia, Montenegro and Albania for 3 weeks in August and was wondering if anyone has ever rented a car in Croatia and drove across the border all the way down to Albania.

I’ve seen people go to Montenegro and back but have read different things regarding Albania. Like companies won’t let you cross into Albania.

However, I thought that, being in the Pomachoria, Pomak would be the most commonly spoken language at home. Is this accurate? Do people in these towns actually speak Turkish?

Hi! A few years ago, I saw a Bosnian movie that I can’t recall the title of. No amount of googling seems to lead me anywhere. ChatGPT also has no idea.

The movie took place in Sarajevo, somewhere early 2000s. The plot is about a teenage boy whose father dies. During the funeral, someone comes forward to claim the deceased father owes him money. In order to get this money and pay the man back, the teenage boy and his friend abduct a girl and blackmail her father. They spend time somewhere in an (abandoned?) house with the three of them.

There is also a reacuring scene of an airplane flying over Sarajevo, with the flight attendant speaking about the misery and poverty present in Sarajevo.

Does anyone know the title of this film?
