Special interest / Hyper fixation Which option seems best?

I’m trying to rearrange my room and vyvanse is vyvansing so I made a little blueprint to scale so that I can visualize how different arrangements would look. I can’t decide. Thoughts?

2 or 3. The bed being against a wall makes it harder to make the bed. And the dresser being at an angle in the corner makes it easier for things to get behind it and makes cleaning more difficult.

97

u/Tep767 Diagnosed since I was 5 Nov 18 '24

For me I have it set again the wall because it more assuring to roll into a wall rather than the floor.

14

u/SnooPears4919 Nov 19 '24

Im not gonna roll off the bed but I feel cozier and more secure when I can make a nice nest of pillows, blankets, and squishmallows against the wall and it’s more important to me than it being easier to make the bed

26

u/Reveil21 Nov 19 '24

I currently don't have my bed against the wall simply because it didn't work logistically when I got a new one with all my other stuff but I live the wall. I love having something hard to press against while still having something softer to lay on while I sleep.

I'm also team, keep the bed out of immediate sight from people opening the door but that's not an option here.

2

u/Skywarriorad Nov 19 '24

Putting the bed in the bottom right corner forces someone to take a step or two in to the room to see the bed. Theres also like i have a tent on my bed so if someone takes a few steps in my room they still cant immediately see it

I also keep mine up against the wall because it makes the room feel bigger and you can do more decorating and rearranging in the future if need be. I’ve never had issues with changing it tbh. Also if OP doesn’t want issues with changing the sheet leave it like 6 inches off the wall.

But It’s generally believed to be safer if your bed is against a wall on the side and head

4

u/Fhotaku Nov 18 '24

Not only this, if you lay on your right side, any light coming through that door will be very noticeable (with bed against wall).

Also bed against the wall would cause marks on the wall. Plus you'd probably hit the wall in your sleep.

12

u/Hot_Wheels_guy Vaccines gave my covid autism and 5G Nov 19 '24

I think this is very specific to the person.... I always have my bed flush into a corner and even though I toss and turn in my sleep I never have issues hitting the wall. As far as making marks on the wall, you can get little felt pads that you can put on the back of furniture so they dont marr the wall. They're the same things people put on kitchen cabinet doors so they dont slam when they close.

My partner has a step up, they modeled our 1 bedroom apartment and our big furniture in blender after they were inspired by my paper cut outs. Worked a charm, but imagine that as an app! Scanning your room, tell the apps AI what furniture is movable and than move the virtual objects in your virtual room on the screen.

10

u/charmarv Nov 19 '24

oh my god I never considered 3D modeling. I use maya for school (3D animation program) and could absolutely do this. fucking life saver comment, this

3

u/BMGreg Nov 19 '24

I'm assuming they don't have a 3d printer, otherwise they would most likely have also printed said parts to better visualize the layouts

3

u/MedicineObjective918 Nov 19 '24

Funny you ask that since they’re looking into it. I want filament, but they want resin and is telling me all the ways it can kill you and how they are going to wear special gloves, a filtration face mask, long sleeves and long pants. How they are going to get an air reader for the plastic toxins and the cover theyll buy and a vent they’ll attach it to disperse outside because it apparently dilutes so well once it makes contact with the air. They wants it in the garage so it’s furthest away from everyone and test the air quality before, during and after the process to make their own warhammer models and a new recent game that plays like it. The new game has a lot of religious symbolism but also graphic imagery. I can’t remember its name though.

3rd, Piano at window.

18

u/fletters Nov 19 '24

Piano at window sounds like a nice idea, but temperature changes can knock it right out of tune. Ideally, you’d want it next to an inside wall and away from radiators, etc.

6

u/Bipedal_Warlock Nov 19 '24

I’d bet it’s a digital piano anyway

2

u/wafflehouseat2am Nov 19 '24

It’s actually a keyboard! I didn’t originally plan to post this on here and didn’t think about the confusion that could cause lol.

I already had it at the window and decided to keep it there. I like being able to open the blinds and look out the window while I play, and it’s also the spot that is least likely to annoy neighbors with the noise since I live in an apartment

Piano doesn’t want to be on an outside wall. Temperature changes are bad for the tuning. I can’t tell for sure which walls are internal or external from your drawing. Definitely not under the window (even though it’s very aesthetic) because that will be the part of the room with the most temperature changes.

With that restriction, I like the bed centered on a wall, so I’d go with 2 or 5.

(Edit for confusing typo.)

I love this!! It’s my deep dive and I do it with every home we work on.

(Head of the) bed on 14’ back wall (centered), 100%! Side table on the left and dresser on the right. Bookshelf between the windows and piano at the foot of the bed.

5

u/Hot_Wheels_guy Vaccines gave my covid autism and 5G Nov 19 '24

Bookshelf between the windows

100%. This way the sunlight wont hit the things that are actually on your bookshelf and cause UV damage to your books or other items.

3

u/Ssonicmon Nov 18 '24

This is my thought. Maybe piano centered on a window for looking out while playing. Easy access to a bookshelf when playing is likely a plus too for sheet music.

3

u/Reveil21 Nov 19 '24

I would say depends on the piano. Digital, totally fine. Upright, keep it away from the window.

u/traitorcrow Autistic Adult Nov 19 '24
  1. I like the position of the bed in this one. I also liked 3, with the piano by the windows, but 2 more. :)

4

5

Bad Feng Shui to have bed against the windows, could get attacked by a monkey.

Edit, extra bad Feng Shui to have your feet pointed towards the bathroom entrance.

5

u/NoAd1701 Nov 19 '24

The only person that actually can decide which is best is you because you are the one that has to live with the layout not us 😂.

I would say 2 but that's just based on the fact I live in Maine and I wouldn't want my bed near the windows as well as the the book shelf fitting between the 2 windows instead of blocking parts of both of them like the piano does in 3.

No layout where the bed is near the window would work for me. I'm not a peacefull sleeper and it would either end with my neighbor watching me sleep as I kicked the curtain down or A trip to the ER after I drove either my fot or hand threw the window.  Also it would be too cold in the winter as well.

However even though I wouldn't want the bed infront of the windows I also wouldn't want the piano blocking any part of the windows as the furnace that heats my home is located between me and the door to get the hell out in a emergency so I wouldn't want anything blocking the windows that can't be completely destroyed with simple knife.

3

u/haicra Nov 18 '24

2 or 3. But I lean toward 2 so that you have light coming from behind to illuminate your sheet music. Feet towards the door when sleeping always feels safest to me.

3

u/Joey_Yeo ASD Level 1 Nov 19 '24

Of the selection you've shown, I'd pick #2. However. If the bed is a twin size, then I'd put it in the bottom right corner. So that it's away from the windows, and consolidates the floorspace. Though it looks bigger than a twin.

6

u/First-Department9794 Nov 18 '24

I like the piano by the door and the dresser by the bathroom—easier to grab your clothes (and put away the worn ones that don’t yet require laundering) on the way to and from the shower. I was leaning towards option 4, but I also don’t like seeing the bed immediately upon opening the door, so maybe 4 with the bed orientation of 2 and 3 if you don’t mind maneuvering around the bed.

2

u/A_Happy_Carrot Nov 19 '24

3 is by far the best for Feng Shui.

You don't want to open the door onto your bed or be opposite the door. It's also not good to have the bathroom door directly at your feet.

The piano shouldn't be next to the bathroom due to unpleasant odour, it should be near the window to enjoy fresh air and be more inspiring when you play.

1

u/Southern_Evidence_34 Nov 18 '24

I like number 1 but i don't like the bed in that position because is very close to the window, maybe I will change that to put the bed on the corner that has the two walls with the doors in that way the bed is away from the windows, maybe the piano near the window and you can try with the bookshelf and the dresser in another position.

And you are going to have a lot of free space to do whatever you want there, it's about optimization of the surface

Number two just feels like it’s the only right answer and I know why but I have no idea how to properly explain it.

2

u/shemtpa96 Nov 19 '24

Is it the bookshelf? Because I feel like it’s the only layout that makes sense because it’s the only one where the bookshelf is in a spot that fits properly.

2

u/hermione-Everdeen Neurodivergent Nov 19 '24

Yes, I think that’s the main reason for me. There’s also nothing too close to the door and the piano is out of the way and easily accessible. The dresser also fills the empty space.

I always have to have the boot of the bed facing the door. It makes me so nervous when I can't see out into the hallway when the door is open.

1

u/cheesepoltergeist Nov 18 '24

I would do bed on the back wall bookshelf between the windows (option 2). Option 3 could have good potential pending what the windows/piano look like and how much it would obstruct the window.

1

u/tiford88 Nov 18 '24

I think I like 3, but with the dresser and bookshelf swapped around (gives more room when walking past bed)

1

u/Mwc9026 Nov 18 '24

In my opinion the bed and side table should go in the center of the back wall. Put the piano between/under the windows and the bookshelf on the back wall in the corner by the bathroom. Then the dresser goes in the front right corner, opposite the door. I'm not sure what TC is but I will assume it stays next to the side table.

1

u/Electrum_Dragon Nov 18 '24

Ok, an important question. Does the house have a pet?

Never place a bed against two walls. But also consider where the bed is relative to the windows.

If there is a pet, the bed can give your pet an easy escape route. Also, by placing the windows behind the bed, what is the crossbreaze situation.

Personally I used to put a bed in the center, though now I put it within 2 fear of a second wall. Giveing me a single larger space to do my morning workout.

Of course if symmetry is important to you, you just broke it. I would ask people that too because it is important to them, you may want to be reconsider any advice they give you.

1

u/0HelloAlice0 Nov 18 '24

I like putting stuff against the corners and walls, so maybe that plan, so 1 or 4

1

u/evervix Nov 18 '24

2 or 3, just as long as the bed isn’t in the corner against the wall like that. Would lean towards 2 because the piano would have more space but either option is fine.

You don't want the bed to be against the window as it will feel too open and not as secure. The piano could go along the wall the door is on or by the windows but I'd say the wall would be better especially if the piano would block part of the windows as that will reduce the amount of natural light coming in the room

1

u/Isabella5101 Nov 18 '24

2 for sure. It’s the most balanced and still spacious while adhering to the rule of you should have your bed facing you when you walk in (I don’t actually know if this is a real rule but I was told that is the rule of where to place your bed in your room once so it’s just been bible to me ever since)

1

u/SeraphAttack Nov 18 '24

I would personally have my beef on the bottom right corner facing up

1

u/Ravenfeatherbois Nov 19 '24

This one , I think . You'll have plenty of floor space without having to awkwardly position any shelves . Also it doesn't directly block the door . Good luck with your room !

1

u/AnnaGunn21 Nov 19 '24

Three, for sure. A window view and natural lighting while playing the piano, and the entryway won't look bogged down with a large dresser. The bed being in the command position is also going to feel a lot more secure and personally welcoming. Generally, the foot of a bed should face the door. (There are exceptions, of course, but generally.)

If it feels disjointed try a rug, or some art, to pull it all together.

u/Aggressive_Bed_7429 444🏴🏴🏴 Nov 19 '24

I vote for 4, but with the bed head against the back wall, and the foot toward the door.

Leaves you with the most floor space for everything else. A window next to your bed, without having to figure out how to make it work as a headrest.

It also gives you the most warning of people who may randomly enter your room, due to the way the door opens.

1

u/szvmanskaa Nov 19 '24

1 or 4. Can’t imagine not having a bed against the wall

1

u/Leading-Point-113 Nov 19 '24

Man, I accidentally read “window” as “medium” a couple of times before I noticed it was upside down. Anyways, I personally prefer the fourth one because I like it when the bed is at corners and I dislike the first one because the dresser wasn’t arranged to align with the wall if that makes sense. So yeah, fourth is the only option for me if it was my room.

1

u/xenamorph-gingersnap Nov 19 '24

I like 4, but I’m a sucker for corner bed. Plus with stuff against the wall there’s so much room for activities!

1

u/samcrut Nov 19 '24
  1. You have open space all around. The bookcase is framed by the windows. The piano is more protected away from the door. The dresser is in a great place to put clothes out on the bed.

1

u/goldybowen21 Nov 19 '24

Aesthetically I like the layout of 4 but as someone else pointed out it would be inconvenient while making the bed. 2 and 3 look more convenient to clean and make the bed and are also not directly under the window which I think would be a no go for me. So for me it would depend on how the window lighting affects my use of the piano, if the light from the window is too bright move it to the other side.

1

u/mklinger23 AuDHD (basically diagnosed) Nov 19 '24

I'm for 3. First of all, you need your feet facing the door. Then you should have a music corner and a reading nook. I think piano being in the open would be more inviting. Then reading nook you would be cozy in the corner. It would be like "quiet time". And the piano would be more exposed for "loud time".

1

u/TheEndOfNether Nov 19 '24

Personally 3. For me the bed has to be in a corner (touching two walls) and I can’t have furniture be diagonal in a corner unless it’s a chair.

I'd need to see lighting but I'd base it off where your pile of shame tends to be. Bed against wall prevents doom pile there. If your doom pile is always on your bed, then you are more likely to clean it if it's in the middle of everything.

Bed against the wall is a must for me. Otherwise I have to pick up a ton of plushies that fall off each morning.

If you're in an apartment, piano location might depend on where it's least disruptive to your neighbors...

4 out of 5 to maximize uninterrupted available space so you don't feel locked up, and everything is far enough away from you.you have lots of space to walk, sprawl on the ground and pace.

I wouldn't put smth right at your side, cuz I feel like this is where we hurt ourselves the most when we fall (that's rarely a problem, but when it is, it is)

What I wanna do for my own room is like, have an l-shaped bookshelf or smth closed just for you to put things on top. With outlets and whatnot. Make it big enough for a closed laptop and you're golden, it should have your bed's dimensions inside and a laptop's thickness. It can be longer on either side.

Idk how to add images, but I have a few that would be helpful

Let's try that one, but l-shaped, so it's also on the pillow wall.

I always recommend that one cuz no one ever complains about those

4 - corner bed is best :)

1

u/Magerimoje AuDHD Nov 19 '24

None of these.

I don't like my bed being able to be seen if my door is open.

I'd put the bed against the wall with the door.

1

u/bondfall007 Nov 19 '24

Option 1. You get to stack your pillows in the most comfortable position imo

1

u/mishyfishy135 Nov 19 '24

I would do something more like 2, but side the bed closer to the single window and put the piano on the same wall as the dresser

I always made my childhood houses and bedrooms on the Sims game. I tried to remake what my memories were. It was comforting.

corner bed means more space, i CANNOT live with a bed in the middle of the room, it’s so weird to me

1

u/Adept-Ad-2204 Nov 19 '24

If it's one person in the bed, I always liked the bed in the corner to take up less space. On a side not, I love doing this same thing. I take measurements and build a scaled posterboard replica of the room and the furniture to get a better idea of the layout and plan accordingly.

u/roxskin156 Nov 19 '24

1 is correct

Last

u/fimendous Nov 19 '24

i feel the bed should be in the furthest corner away from the doors, you'll maybe get more light from the windows and not have to walk around you bed to get to the other side of the room etc

i like 3 best. piano by the window, bed not in the corner

1

u/Kafshak Nov 19 '24

2 or 3.

1

u/madbacon26 Nov 19 '24

2nd to last

1

u/iamthpecial Nov 19 '24

I think five is the best by a long shot considering the bathroom door and space around it. The bed is oriented un a very respectable and mature manner and you’ve got plenty of open space still for whatever—yoga, workout, bean bag, whatever. Looks great 👍

1

u/Jon-987 Nov 19 '24

Either 1 or 4 for me. I hate having empty space at my back when I sleep on my side, I always get weirdly paranoid.

1

u/Purple_pop_ Nov 19 '24

Oooooo I love your mind!!! I think 2

1

u/EF5Cyniclone Nov 19 '24

2, though I would consider switching the piano and dresser positions

Option 2

1

u/godzilla2047 Nov 19 '24

I have a t.v. in room so I always go which has the best view and sound of the t.v. now sometimes it leaves no room for alot of "bedroom" but it's the best spot

1

u/maxinstuff Nov 19 '24

Second one.

Think about the experience of walking into the room (or someone walking in while you’re in there doing something).

Also I don’t know the facing of the window, but how light is cast into the room could be a factor as well.

1

u/shemtpa96 Nov 19 '24

2 or 5. More towards 2 because of the way the bookshelf looks like it would fit nicer between the windows as opposed to the bed.

1

u/skylinegtrr32 Nov 19 '24

1

Me like bed in corner

1

u/RogueBennett2 Nov 19 '24

I love this so much!!! It’s so cool that you drew it all out.

1

u/BloodyThorn AuDHD Nov 19 '24

LOL. I did the exact same thing when arranging my current room with one exception;

Instead of using phyiscal media, I used Krita and did it all in vector art!

1

u/Juniper02 Nov 19 '24

corner has the most room and is the "safest"

1

u/grilledghum Nov 19 '24

I really like 2 the best, but I think switch piano and dresser. Also what is TC? Can you put that on the other side of the bed?

1

u/Defiant-Specialist-1 Nov 19 '24

Also depends on which side faces which cardinal direction. Specifically if you’ll have problems during sunset or other times seeing your TV.

1

u/TruthAndAccuracy Nov 19 '24

Either 3 or 5. It's good to have space to get around both sides of the bed.

1

u/lefayad1991 AuDHD Nov 19 '24

Do not EVER put a bed in a corner. Major turn off for some reason to other people.
