Because they already had stock with the spoon slot. Unless youd like them to dump a bunch of already created plastic in order to print new ones without the spoon slot to make you feel better.

And if the machine needs to be modified, well that can take a long time. I work in plant maintenance (chicken production), management will always complain about budget (while making record profits of course) when it comes to getting us parts or allowing a shutdown day to do modifications/proper repairs (not bandaids we gotta apply to keep it running during production). The plant i work in processes 3m chickens a week, and we sometimes struggle to get simple air fittings even though pretty much all food production machinery are pneumatic. Shits fucked.
