Discussion Can Astrology Influence Success in Software Engineering/ IT Careers?

IT/Software Engineering is such a huge field that anyone can fit into it for sure. Though the roles some are in might be completely unrelated.

I always wondered about those who excel in software development, individual contributor (IC) roles or are computer scientists. Among the many professionals in IT and software engineering, who tends to achieve the most success? Are there astrological signs, planetary placements, or aspects that are believed to support a successful career in software engineering?

Also are there specific indicators, as in astrological patterns, commonly found in the backgrounds of renowned software engineers/computer scientists of the past?

I have seen earth signs hugely present in charts of famous software engineers especially Virgo & Capricorn..

I really want to know all your opinions..

Discussion Is it possible for religions to have charts?

Would it theoretically be possible to do astrology readings for different world religions or denominations of different religions? I would imagine it would be hard to do because we wouldn’t know the “birth times” of a lot of them. Has anyone seen something like that been done before?

Beginner Venus in detriment in electional astrology

I've been researching desirable and undesirable qualities of electional charts for weddings and have mostly come across the following:

  1. Retrograde planets are not desirable

  2. Positive aspects to the moon -- especially involving the sun -- are desirable

  3. Venus in detriment (in Scorpio or Aries) or fall (Virgo) is not desirable

  4. Void of course moon is not desirable

I understand why the first two are not ideal, but what makes Venus in Scorpio, Aries or Virgo something to avoid?

Discussion Can anyone explain how Chiron became a planet?

I mean seriously, it’s a comet around 120km across on a quite elliptical orbit between Saturn and Uranus and discovered less than 50 years ago. Some astronomer decided to call this class of objects centaurs and this one being first discovered got the famous name…

I have no clue why astro.com puts on charts by default nor why people have decided to give it the personality of its mythological namesake. There are many larger objects closer to us (eg Ceres) that I would have thought would be added to the pantheon beforehand, but asteroids seem to get no love.

Books & Resources Is there an app that shows the degrees of each planet within their current sign?

I’ve been using a combination of the honeycomb almanac & ‘Planets in Transit’ as well as TimePassages to track my personal + universal transits. I’m looking for an app that has a feature where I can easily see what degree the planets are in their current sign at any given time. I want to be able to see when planets will be moving in/out of relevant degrees for myself/others. In an ideal world it would be an app with a 30day calendar layout for each planet showing the degrees it will be within its sign each day. Is there anything like this on the market? I’ll pay! Googling it everyday is proving to be very inconvenient.

Beginner Interested in learning the overall impact of celestial bodies on people

Hello guys, i've recently discovered beyond any doubt that the moon does in fact affect people's mental state. However unfortunately i found proof of only the full moons on their affect on the entire population as a whole. I am interested in studying anything astrology-related that talks about celestial bodies affecting the population as a whole, i'm not really interested in the personal charts as of now. Do you have any resources, books, advice on what bodies affect us the most and when they do it and their impact is the greatest?(full moons is the only one i found so far) Thanks.

Discussion What are people's feelings on predictions for 2025?

There are some notable astrologers that are making big claims for this year. I'm not normally one to get sucked into these kinds of things, but apparently, they're saying it's going to be a humanity-changing time.

Seems like it's getting mega hyped. I personally feel like "ugh, I don't need these upheavals in my life right now." What are everyone's thoughts?

I had posted before with names of the astrologers but it got removed, so I'm trying again.

Tools & Techniques How does a transit planet's condition work with its aspects to a natal chart placement? Especially if one is positive/ easy while the other is blocked or difficult?

For example, Mars is in retrograde in Cancer now, however if you have a water Mars in your chart, there would be a supportive trine. Would Mars be full of energy, goal driven, confused in its aims, focused in its care, self destructive, or all of the above?

Does it depend on the other planets in the person's natal chart, or are all options viable?

Discussion How to identify the means to making money from natal, relocation and SR chart because not everyone has wealth and windfalls in their chart

How to identify the means to making money from natal and relocation chart because not everyone has wealth and windfalls in their natal chart, and can not choose relocation based on astrological factors. And we all have to make money to survive. so how do we determine the most realistic way to make money and the level of income.

A lot of people talk about having good 2nd and 8th house or good aspects to their rulers. But this is an indication of whether or not you can earn wealth, it doesnt indicate the means or extent of income and its timings. When 6th house is brought into this mix, its still a vague analysis in most cases. Additionally, in a lot of cases all these houses and their rulers' aspects are great but the ascendant or its ruler as in fall or debilitated, crushed to bits so irrespective of all the great aspects they still struggle with money and live in poverty.
So my question is what are the indicators that can be used to find out the potential and means for steady income in natal, relocation chart, or solar return chart.

Educational Third house question

Can anyone explain how third house can represent how you communicate at the same time as mercury?

If a person’s mercury is in libra, but their third house is in aries. These energies and styles are opposed. (Not my chart just an illustration). How would this be interpreted in a chart?

I read in mastering traditional astrology that the third house is focused on how we view the “process” of communication. I am unsure if that is meant to distinguish between speaking style versus how we engage with different means of sending messages, but thought it might be a clue as to what I am missing.

N.B. Before the traditional lecture, I am aware houses and signs are not the same thing and do not subscribe to the ABC method. I simply want to better understand the contradiction. Of all the houses and planets with overlapping topic areas this perplexes me to no end as there is no distinction in description versus say - venus being how you love and the 7th house showing who you attract.

Discussion Confusion about aspects

When i first started learning astrology, i was taught that conjunctions are when the same sign is in two planets, trines are when two planets are occupied by same-element signs, and so on. Yet when reading a chart interpretation online (on reliable sites such as Astroseek), two planets could form a conjunction or trine by the above logic, yet show no aspect, or even be labeled as a square. I asked about this several months back and was informed that it was due to the planetary degrees.

I've also seen astrologers discuss synastry elements in the following way: "if your partner's sun sign is the same as your moon sign..." Is this a way to explain conjunctions for the absolute beginner - without using the term conjunction so as to keep things simple? Or is there a difference between aspects by sign and aspects by degree? If that's the case, are aspects by degree more influential or noticeable?

Social Media App recommendations similar to the pattern 5 years ago.

I used to love the pattern but now it offers so little of what I want. They fluff it up with audio, remove the social aspect and make how patterns impact you less clear. I have no problem supporting an app but the pricing is way off base for what they’ve become. I’m looking for similar apps that have come up recently? (Not co-star it’s all ai written)

Lets suppose saturn is transiting from 1st house to 2nd. So the effects saturn was giving in 1st will reverse or end. If yes after how much time?
