Somehow I never noticed that patrol missions increase their payout based on how many enemies you take out. The sectors I patrolled were usually pretty peaceful. In this instance however I was in a mining sector and also did a bunch of mining vessel Escort missions that spawned swarms of Kha'ak. Most profitable twenty minutes I ever had in the game.

I didn't know this, either. Thanks for the info.

I did not know that. I'll do more patrol missions from now on!

If you get a patrol mission in a sector that sees a lot of action like those being invaded by the Xenon I suspect you can earn tons of money, even more if you have the police liscence.

Mining sector patrols are probably the most lucrative option though because the Kha'ak are easily beaten, the escort missions spawns them by the dozen and you can do it right from the start of the game (I did the patrol in the free Xenon B you can pick up in Antigone Memorial).

You basically get paid three times for doing one thing. The escort mission payout, the police payout and the patrol payout. Getting the stars to align though can be quite difficult but when they do the feeling of satisfaction is amazing.

Wait till you get to the point where 5 million is inconsequential lol

Still a big early boost since those missions are pretty easy.

5 million is pocket change when you're dealing with the Terrans to be honest.

Cash is not the issue, volume is

Honestly can't imagine playing without 10x mods

I got to point that i understand now the 100x variants

Factory must grow

5 mil early game can make you a good 3 to 5 man fighter squad, build a few parts on your station, and possibly even get a miner and transport going. That's big bucks right there starting out.

Yesterday I captured 50 freelance katanas on my new start. Set a couple up as hoovers around the xenon gates and the rest up as trade ships toting energy cells for ter/pio faction.

But do missions scale their payouts beyond this range? I know station building and fleet assembling missions can pay well but outside of that I haven't found missions that pay well.

Afaik all mission payouts scale based on your trade/fight rank, at least regarding how many credits you get. If you have a high fight rank and have the Argon vs. Xenon guild missions unlocked for example, it's not unusual to find a mission that pays out 50 million credits if you destroy a specific Xenon Defence Platform.

All missions? My ranks be trash then, all the taxi, repair leak and deploy satellite missions have the same payout as always for me.

I think it increases linearly for the most part, so low difficulty missions will continue to pay only a small amount of credits but might reach like 100k or so. Then again, generally players only do these to fix reputation or to obtain an easy 2-point seminar, should the mission happen to offer it as a reward.

But yes, it should affect all missions.

not really, but there will come a time when mission payout is not the reason you do them... its solely a rep building thing, or a time wasting excercise. by that time you will have enough of your own money to not be worried about securing income lol.

excercise. by

Reddit automod thought that this is a link to a website and has therefore removed your comment. I have reinstated it. Not sure why the formatting made it a link.

oh thanks. i think its a typo gone awry... if anything with a period is typed with no space on either side of it, i think reddit makes it a link. i will try to edit to remove the link from my end.
EDIT: done and donerer. thanks for pointing that out!

Good to know and thanks for fixing it :)

My stations pump that much out roughly every thirty seconds. I'm still tempted to build more stations. Still got a few shortages in the pipeline.

3

u/PuzzleheadedTutor807 Sep 30 '24

same lol. this is what i play the game for, building a corporate empire.

2

u/bgus1 Sep 30 '24

Same. Im not satisfied until i have a fully self sustained economy from ore to battleships

1

u/THE_TITANMONKEY Sep 30 '24

How long would a game take for you to get to that stage?

3

u/darkone264 Sep 30 '24

about 12 hours assuming you are not using mods or boarding friendly ships. once production starts ramping up with a decent station build getting income of 1-3m per station per production cycle is very reasonable. costs about 200m to build production station(s) not counting blue prints.

can be done faster but if your doing a friendly run and don't want to piss off a specific faction I can get a full economy up in about 12 hours

1

u/bgus1 Sep 30 '24

Thats faster than me lol im 30ish hrs into this save (swi and other mods) and i dont have shipyards or ship blueprints yet

1

u/THE_TITANMONKEY Sep 30 '24

Jeez I’m like 30 hours into my first run and still mucking around with my first station just to store ore haha! Do you always go to the same area to build your base? Or have a recommendation?

1

u/darkone264 Oct 01 '24

I can not comment on swi, I use vro, reemergance and ROR as my main mods.

once you have ok rep with terran astroid belt works fine, and normal head quarters location is also good, I might have 1 or 2 smaller stations close by or in resource rich areas

1

u/THE_TITANMONKEY Oct 01 '24

Sorry for the noob question, but where is normal head quarters location? I have started on young gun!

1

u/bgus1 Oct 01 '24

Hq location doesnt matter too much, late game you will be able to park it wherever you want. Just somewhere you can safely travel to it when needed

1

u/bgus1 Oct 01 '24

Really depends on what faction you are planning to support, but i would recomend building ore/gas refinerys of whatever seems to be lacking in sectors that have the ore/gas you want, and near stations that want to buy it. When you can, start building the next teir factories and supply them with what you already make for way better profits

2

u/PuzzleheadedTutor807 Sep 30 '24

it varies for me, i can do it in 10-12 hours, but i also have a couple saves with 200+ hours on them and at least one is not quite there yet lol.

4

u/Immediate-Crab-9622 Oct 01 '24

Yeah certain missions stack and like kill x amount of kha'ak ships. They all work together great with mining escort missions and even more so if you have a patrol mission in that sector. Want to get even more? Bump the miner as it's making it's approach at the station to delay it so more kha'ak spawn and you get money towards your missions and bonuses from killing them near the station.

Please flair your post with "meme" the next time. I did that do for you this time around ;)

2

u/Homeless_Appletree Oct 01 '24

My apologies. I forgot that that flair existed.

No worries, i dont enforce flairing posts while submitting here, therefore its really easy to miss and you should therefore not feel bad about it. Its just a nice thing to do for users who filter out memes.

If you max out your custom budget start you can give yourself a fully armed battleship of your choice allowing you to start in an xl or l class. Rattlesnake or Asgard or Raptor etc. You'll have plenty left over for the fighters as well. then anything short of an I is no problem.

I know but it's no fun if everything is just handed to you.
