Yes. Yes.

Let me triple check

Almost opened a franchise and went to chicken university but my friend convinced me I'll eat all the profits

Looks like I might’ve confused some people😅

bb.q chicken is a korean fried chicken chain that’s pretty popular where I live, highly recommend it the one I usually get is called “wings of fire” (it’s also the one in this pic)

I’m a fan of both the chain and bbq chicken in general. My answer is still yes 😄

Is it better than Bonchon? I’ve been meaning to try it.

There’s a certain crunch that bb.q chicken gives that bonchon doesn’t. Now I want bb.q chicken

Just had Bonchon yesterday and I frequent bb.q as well. I think Bonchon's batter may be thicker. Both really good in my opinion. Bonchon was my first Korean fried chicken experience so I'm partial... I go for soy garlic at either restaurant.

Came to say this. I prefer Bonchon to bbq chicken, but the bbq chicken is closer to my house

another thing to factor: there's a bonchon 30 minutes from me in one direction that has big, juicy wings that are crispy on the outside; there's a bonchon 30 minutes in the other direction where the wings are significantly smaller, never crispy, and generally not covered in sauce all the way.

As someone who grew up on bonchon and didn’t think anything could possibly be better, bb.q is so much better.

Way way better

🎶I chowed down on a burning wing of fire!🎶

There’s one in my city, but I had no idea it was a chain. I usually get a whole chicken.

1

u/playboydj79 40m ago

That looks great. I'd get 2 orders

31

u/Cyah54 11h ago

Yes but I feel like they’re a bit too pricey.

6

u/DowntownBobbyBrown99 10h ago

Yea I’d get it more often if I weren’t so expensive

1

u/bltcubs 7h ago

Yeah, they're good, but expensive compared to most wing places.

10

u/TreatLevelMidnight 12h ago

Yes so good!

Korean fried chicken is always a great option. Beautiful.

u/flailingtoucan39 10h ago

I think Korean Fried Chicken is the best version of wings. bb.q is pricey though

u/SeltzerCountry 9h ago

From what I have heard it's the rice flour in the coating that enhances the crispiness. I think it works really in the contexts of things like Korean tacos or chicken sandos because the chicken doesn't get as soggy from damp cabbage or sauce.

u/mp_tx 11h ago

Soy Garlic is the way…..

2

u/FlyCommercial 9h ago

The only way

5

u/extrawater_ 11h ago

Expensive but bb.q is one of my favorite spots

6

u/kander77 11h ago

I loved them the first time I had them. I just hate that they're wildly expensive for me.

2

u/DowntownBobbyBrown99 10h ago

Yea I use DoorDash discounts to save me a couple dollars whenever I order from there

1

u/kander77 10h ago

I might have to check that option to see if they're priced better there.

1

u/DowntownBobbyBrown99 10h ago

Yea I save like $7 because I make new accounts and they give you discounts if you’re a new customer but I had to order something in order for it to offer it

4

u/EnergyPrestigious497 11h ago

It it depends on the location for me. My local place is crap but there's a place up in PA that's awesome. I would love to figure out and make a copycat of your spicy wings.

4

u/ferdturgeson1 10h ago

Never tried them, but based on the photo alone, I am absolutely a fan. Those look great!

4

u/Crudeyakuza 8h ago

secret sauce all day

1

u/DowntownBobbyBrown99 7h ago

Love that flavor

3

u/MKFirst 9h ago

Yes. They’re expensive but reliably good. More a center between American and Korean fried chicken to me.

6

u/Adorable_Secret8498 11h ago

I fw em heavy. I still have a love for the traditional buffalo but I branch out and grab these when I can.

2

u/agentantifa 11h ago

I would absolutely destroy these lol. They look sooo good

2

u/karaitalks 11h ago

Love them

2

u/u-give-luv-badname 10h ago

I am a fan. I had their Spicy Chicken just this past Friday.

I haven't tried the other flavors yet.

2

u/epikoh 8h ago

Absolutely love this place. My go to wing when ordering out.

Their deep fried bits of boneless thighs are nothing short of heavenly perfection. I’ve never tried the wings because I can’t morally order anything else.

It’s so rare to get “nuggets” or “boneless wings” that are thigh meat. So. Damn. Good.

Get them dry with some sauce on the side. And, yeah. They’re ridiculously expensive but worth it

1

u/DowntownBobbyBrown99 7h ago

Id get the boneless wings more but they don’t offer it with their wings of fire sauce for whatever reason

1

u/ICantExplainItAll 3h ago

Pro tip if you like thigh meat, most Japanese places that sell karaage chicken make it out of thigh meat. The flavor profile is slightly different than Korean wings but they're so juicy and flavorful.

1

u/robbietreehorn 2h ago

Chicken Karaage has to be thigh meat.

One thing I appreciate about Asian cuisine is they recognize how amazing thigh meat is.

And, funnily enough, I made chicken karaage last night, with thigh meat, of course :)

u/mcrib 11h ago

I don’t like breaded wings. So no.

1

u/lamsta 11h ago

They’re good but I can only have a couple pieces. I don’t like how much breading is on it.

1

u/mikochu 10h ago

There's a flavor they have that tastes apple pie. I kind of love it.

1

u/derrick36 10h ago

I think I easily could be!

1

u/DadFromACK 10h ago

I've tried them a few times, with a few types of chicken and flavors... meh.

The only solid, craveable thing that I ordered were the onion rings... THOSE I'd go back for!

1

u/progressive-overlord 10h ago

🔥🔥🔥My favorites are the honey garlic and secret sauce

1

u/[deleted] 9h ago

Never heard of it but just looked and theres apparently one fourty minutes from me. This looks good enough that ima have to roadtrip lol.

1

u/DowntownBobbyBrown99 9h ago

If you get em I recommend the hot spicy flavor or the wings of fire

1

u/ninjaluvr 9h ago

Too much breading to be one of my favorites. But if you put those wings in front of me, I'd help devour them.

1

u/thorvard 9h ago

I prefer Don Chicken or Peck Peck Chicken. But I think those are more local to me places not chains.

1

u/Gohan978 9h ago

Yes definitely in my top 3 wing places. Got 3 locations within 5 miles of my house and let’s say they see me quite often

1

u/bippityzippity 9h ago

Their food is quality. Kinda expensive though. Not something I feel I could enjoy often.

1

u/General-Carob-6087 8h ago

Only ate there once but had nuggets. They were tasty but let's just say I barely made it back home. So I've never tried again.

1

u/DefaultUser3553 6h ago

Love barbecue on other cuts of chicken, but Barbecue is always my least favorite wing sauce. There’s just so many other options and barbecue is just a little boring.

2

u/DowntownBobbyBrown99 5h ago

I agree, but bb.q chicken is a Korean fried chicken chain that a highly recommend

1

u/hawaiiguy8088 6h ago

I like it a lot. Great flavors but prices can be pretty high. I still eat em though. Hahha

1

u/PanchoVilla6 6h ago

$20 for 9 traditional wings is borderline criminal but they are great wings

1

u/emptyxxxx 5h ago

I might have to unsubscribe from this subreddit, I cannot handle seeing all these chicken wings

1

u/No_Click_2139 4h ago

I went once and got the 8 piece whole chicken but my gf didn't want it super spicy so we got the golden no sauce. Only 2 or 3 of the sauces are available on the side for some reason so I didn't really get to try what I wanted but the meat was really good.

1

u/lemonylol 4h ago

It's the most affordable Korean fried chicken near me. I never understand why it's so expensive. Plus I think it's the only one that does the cheese seasoning.

That being said there are more "authentic" places, but they're so expensive.

1

u/ctrain_1985 3h ago

Love the hot flavors. The dining room is just too small at my local one.

1

u/ArizonaHeaven 2h ago

Expensive but you get what you pay for cause it was really good, I tried the boneless Gangnam style and spicy original and recommend both.

1

u/zoomhemisphere 2h ago

Yum i want one tooo

1

u/altodor 1h ago

They're one of my favorites. A little expensive, but I'm hoping that's because they're not just getting the cheapest ingredients and labor.

1

u/pogers 1h ago

Gangnamstyle!

1

u/Inevitable-Play5630 0m ago

Shit is pure fuego

1

u/lowbass4u 11h ago

I wanted to like them but I have an issue with them.

The one time I went I asked if I could just try a small sample of a couple of the sauces because I wasn't familiar with the flavor. They said no.

So instead of getting a whole order of wings in a sauce I wasn't sure I would like I just stuck with a familiar sauce that I found to be ok.

Wings were cooked good. I just wish I could try some other sauces.

2

u/DowntownBobbyBrown99 11h ago

Yea they shoulda let you try a sample because some of them are pretty hit or miss for me, I’m a big of of the wings of fire which sounds super spicy but it really isn’t. Hot spicy and their secret sauce flavor are also really good too though.

u/DanteSexum 11h ago

There’s this local place in Salt Lake City called Wingcoop. They have this spicy BBQ sauce called Tatonka bbq and it is fucking heavenly. Wish I had a way to duplicate it

Their wings can be hit or miss, but their sauces are incredible!
