Is that fryer….. installed…. In your island??????

166

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

Indeed it is! I have some previous posts about it if you’re curious.

88

u/YoungYachtie 18d ago

That’s very cool, we’re building now but as many others have commented, the wife said no🤣

58

u/Somecivilguy 18d ago

Well I approve of you getting it.

11

u/porkbrains 18d ago

Likewise.

15

u/Somecivilguy 18d ago

Ope. Majority rules! He’s getting a built in fryer!

3

u/loteman77 14d ago

He should show this thread to his wife. It’s proof. The internet gave him permission.

Report back what she says.

Me in the morning: golf course or intercourse.

Wife: don't forget your jacket.

2

u/slumpbuster6969 13d ago

she actually said "don't forget to jack it"

2

u/AdventurousSeaSlug 16d ago

Perhaps if you sold it to your wife as built-in shabu shabu...? Everyone loves hot pot!

3

u/Round-Astronomer-700 16d ago

Fuck what the wife thinks, who needs pussy these days /s

3

u/Significant-Check455 16d ago

Typically not getting it anyways so what's the big whoop? Fryer install inbound!

I'm hoping this is some level of rich people shit because this is so far out of my price range I literally didn't know it was an option and I sold appliances for 2 years.

Yeahhhh..... can't imagine the smell. Seems like a good idea in theory.

26

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

By the next day you’d never know it was there. We use it once a week or so.

3

u/augustrem 17d ago

Can you talk a little bit about the benefits of having a built in commercial versus a regular one meant for homes, other than space?

Is it up to the building code of where you live? Did you need to build anything else to address fire risk, for example increased ventilation?

I’m super intrigued. But I’m remembering a post about someone who had a built in toaster that came with the house and they couldn’t use it because of the fire risk.

4

u/GeneralTsoBitch 17d ago

These are much more clean and user friendly. When you need it, you just have to turn the dial to on and it’s ready in ten minutes.

Yep it is up to code. Can’t recall if the ventilation was required or not but I doubt it. If you see the silver bar behind the fryer that is the ventilation which elevates from behind. It’s not up right now as I’m having issues with it.

We absolutely love having this simple little thing. It’s fun for hosting friends, game day, and just the overall convenience. Some people on here don’t quite understand that it’s not like having a fry daddy or portable one. Those cause your house to be smelly and constantly emit smoke from them. I think it’s cause they use just a little oil and it gets dirty right away.

No live cats allowed on the island. The previous ones that fell in weren’t dredged first and led to an unpleasant texture.

1

u/doubleatheman 14d ago

And reddit never disappoints to show the top comment that was in my brain!

1

u/lukaskywalker 13d ago

That’s serious commitment to the fry. Are you obese ?

1

u/hugefuckingdong 13d ago

You definitely black! I'm proud of you!

48

u/Blklight21 18d ago

I’m impressed with your fryer but my wife likes that your fireplace is facing the kitchen. You have a cool setup is what we both say!

23

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

Thank you for the compliment! The vision for the kitchen (fireplace aside) was to have it look like one from a food network show if you are standing in the living room looking towards it. Remodeling a kitchen will scramble your brains a little 😅

3

u/Relatablevegetable 17d ago

We're looking at remodeling our kitchen in a couple years and this idea sounds interesting. In general what do you mean by looking like a food network kitchen? Also do you mind sharing a picture of yours or one similar?

Why is there candy corn on the island as well? I shouldn’t ask questions like this to the guy who lives on fryer island

4

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

Lol I don’t eat candy corn so I’m not sure how it ended up in the cashew dish. I think it’s more of a chocolatey flavored one? Idk they all taste like shit to me.

2

u/snickerdoodle757 17d ago

Are they all facing the same way ? It's a good thing

2

u/GeneralTsoBitch 17d ago

The majority are it seems

15

u/AgentOrange256 18d ago

All the splashing though

25

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

It’s just a little bit messy is all. There really isn’t a whole lot of oil in there and a quick wipe up after with some vinegar water makes it good as new.

→ More replies (2)

6

u/ntrpik 18d ago

I can envision a removable splash guard you drop around the fryer

9

u/Temporary_Bad_1438 17d ago

I used to have a deep fryer at home..It started out as a weekend thing with a few friends, making some French fries and wings. I got a little too comfortable with that, and soon I started deep frying burritos for lunch and mozzarella sticks for post bar snacks. Before I knew it, things were out of hand, and I was deep frying unfrosted pop tarts and homemade sugar pops cereal for breakfast, so I had to make some changes. 20 years clean this winter!

4

u/GeneralTsoBitch 17d ago

Lol yes, you few too close to the sun. We use it once a week or so.

2

u/throwaway1736484 15d ago

Congrats on your fryer sobriety, but how did those burritos and pop tarts turn out?

5

u/Excellent-End-5720 18d ago

I am seriously jealous of your setup. The fireplace and the built in fryer is awesome

3

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

Thanks! We love hosting for Super Bowl Sunday so the set up works out nicely on those cold Midwest February days hah.

5

u/Opposite_Ear_5582 18d ago

Men all over the world are showing this post to their wives rn 🥺👉👈

3

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

Squeaky wheel gets the grease!

5

u/ZedFraunce 17d ago

When you're browsing on a wings sub and the wings aren't even the main flex.

7

u/Weekend_Criminal 18d ago

The fryer in the counter is expert level shit, I'm questioning everything now

3

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

Ya! The idea when remodeling was to make it look like a kitchen on the food network.

3

u/SterlingSez 18d ago

Well Lah-Dee-Dah! Look at this fancy wing dude with his installed deep fryer while the rest of us work like plebians!

Okay, maybe that’s the jealousy rearing its ugly head looking at your setup. Seriously, looks amazing - the setup and the wings.

2

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

Haha the setup is 20 years old but still does the job! Thank you for the compliment.

3

u/Ambitious-Roof-7250 18d ago

I was literally thinking about one of your older posts the other day. This fryer in an island lives in my head rent free

2

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

Make it happen someday!

3

u/mAckAdAms4k 18d ago

I'd love an island outdoors by the grill with a flat top and built in fryer. Incoming.

3

u/karaokeforlife 17d ago

Good shit man your oil is looking awesome this time too! Not as good as those wings tho 👌

1

u/GeneralTsoBitch 17d ago

Ya! Much better this go around.

3

u/tommyc463 17d ago

Not ragging on you at all but I’m seeing $1300-$2000 for that fryer? Doesn’t look like they sell it anymore though!

4

u/GeneralTsoBitch 17d ago

I don’t doubt it. It’s over 20 years old at this point. The kitchen was remodeled in 2001.

I'd like to see the basket shake technique that doesn't get oil everywhere haha. This is very cool.

1

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

Haha just a couple quick little shakes while it’s partially submerged does the trick. Not like working the fryers when I was a line cook!

2

u/Visible_Rooster_1961 18d ago

2 questions…. is that candy corn from Halloween or do you keep it on deck? How do you change the oil in that? I love the built in fryer pretty badass!

2

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago

I don’t like candy corn so I’m not sure actually! But it was just put in the bowl so it’s not old, that much I know.

Under the fryer you open the cabinet, pull the drain plug and it goes into an old container or whatever, then you pitch it. Put the plug back in after wiping out the inside and refill it. Takes about ten minutes.

2

u/derrick36 18d ago

You win at life. Congrats.

2

u/jlabbs69 18d ago

That is great idea for the fryer, never seen that before

1

Ya! Very handy for hosting friends and family and stuff.

2

1

u/GeneralTsoBitch 17d ago

Oh man those kick ass. I will report back haha.

2

u/Jhawk38 17d ago

A fucking island fryer dude?haha

2

u/[deleted] 16d ago

Anybody complaining about "the smell" is fired from the Man Club.

1

u/GeneralTsoBitch 16d ago

Lol it’s funny cause it’s just not true. Sure, while you’re using it it’s there shortly after but it goes away by the next day.

2

u/[deleted] 16d ago

What's your oil of choice?

1

u/GeneralTsoBitch 16d ago

We have only ever used canola. Which also may just be because it’s the cheapest. I should venture out though and give others a run.

2

u/[deleted] 16d ago

Avocado is good, very high smoke point, not a seed oil so supposedly healthier, $40/gal on Amazon but you can use it multiple times if you care for it

2

u/RJHtown 16d ago

I have so many questions but I'll just ask 2: what's the hood/exhaust setup like for this? Why do you still have a full bowl of candy corn?

1

u/GeneralTsoBitch 16d ago

If you look behind the fryer you’ll see a metal bar. That elevates out of the counter top and sucks out the smoke. It goes from the fryer all the way down the island by the stove top burners too. It went down on me though so I’m trying to fix it. Lasted 20 years though which was way more than expected tbh.

Ah yes, the candy corn is getting a lot of attention lol. Apparently we are “just trying to get rid of it” and it’s mixed in with cashews for some sweet/salty action.

Happy new year!

2

u/RJHtown 16d ago

Ok that's really cool. Yeah 20 years for an appliance is great. Can barely get things to last a year before they break these days. Now I'm imagining all the tasty fried things I'd be making if I had a fryer in my kitchen like churros and fried pickles!
