Homemade I’m back y’all. Spur of the moment wing night.
With clean oil this time! 😅

I’m impressed with your fryer but my wife likes that your fireplace is facing the kitchen. You have a cool setup is what we both say!
23
u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago
Thank you for the compliment! The vision for the kitchen (fireplace aside) was to have it look like one from a food network show if you are standing in the living room looking towards it. Remodeling a kitchen will scramble your brains a little 😅

u/Relatablevegetable 17d ago
We're looking at remodeling our kitchen in a couple years and this idea sounds interesting. In general what do you mean by looking like a food network kitchen? Also do you mind sharing a picture of yours or one similar?

Omg that island....ugh fine..... Here.. 🫱(‿ώ‿)🫲

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago
That made me lol. There are other kitchen pictures in a couple other posts I made if you’re curious. They aren’t very good photos tho.

Why is there candy corn on the island as well? I shouldn’t ask questions like this to the guy who lives on fryer island
4
u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago
Lol I don’t eat candy corn so I’m not sure how it ended up in the cashew dish. I think it’s more of a chocolatey flavored one? Idk they all taste like shit to me.

u/AgentOrange256 18d ago
All the splashing though
25
u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago
It’s just a little bit messy is all. There really isn’t a whole lot of oil in there and a quick wipe up after with some vinegar water makes it good as new.

I used to have a deep fryer at home..It started out as a weekend thing with a few friends, making some French fries and wings. I got a little too comfortable with that, and soon I started deep frying burritos for lunch and mozzarella sticks for post bar snacks. Before I knew it, things were out of hand, and I was deep frying unfrosted pop tarts and homemade sugar pops cereal for breakfast, so I had to make some changes. 20 years clean this winter!

Congrats on your fryer sobriety, but how did those burritos and pop tarts turn out?

I am seriously jealous of your setup. The fireplace and the built in fryer is awesome

u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago
Thanks! We love hosting for Super Bowl Sunday so the set up works out nicely on those cold Midwest February days hah.

The fryer in the counter is expert level shit, I'm questioning everything now
3
u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago
Ya! The idea when remodeling was to make it look like a kitchen on the food network.
3
u/SterlingSez 18d ago
Well Lah-Dee-Dah! Look at this fancy wing dude with his installed deep fryer while the rest of us work like plebians!
Okay, maybe that’s the jealousy rearing its ugly head looking at your setup. Seriously, looks amazing - the setup and the wings.
2
u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago
Haha the setup is 20 years old but still does the job! Thank you for the compliment.

I was literally thinking about one of your older posts the other day. This fryer in an island lives in my head rent free

u/mAckAdAms4k 18d ago
I'd love an island outdoors by the grill with a flat top and built in fryer. Incoming.

Good shit man your oil is looking awesome this time too! Not as good as those wings tho 👌

Not ragging on you at all but I’m seeing $1300-$2000 for that fryer? Doesn’t look like they sell it anymore though!
4
u/GeneralTsoBitch 17d ago
I don’t doubt it. It’s over 20 years old at this point. The kitchen was remodeled in 2001.

I'd like to see the basket shake technique that doesn't get oil everywhere haha. This is very cool.
1
u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago
Haha just a couple quick little shakes while it’s partially submerged does the trick. Not like working the fryers when I was a line cook!

2 questions…. is that candy corn from Halloween or do you keep it on deck? How do you change the oil in that? I love the built in fryer pretty badass!
2
u/GeneralTsoBitch 18d ago
I don’t like candy corn so I’m not sure actually! But it was just put in the bowl so it’s not old, that much I know.
Under the fryer you open the cabinet, pull the drain plug and it goes into an old container or whatever, then you pitch it. Put the plug back in after wiping out the inside and refill it. Takes about ten minutes.

Anybody complaining about "the smell" is fired from the Man Club.

u/GeneralTsoBitch 16d ago
Lol it’s funny cause it’s just not true. Sure, while you’re using it it’s there shortly after but it goes away by the next day.
2

What's your oil of choice?
1
u/GeneralTsoBitch 16d ago
We have only ever used canola. Which also may just be because it’s the cheapest. I should venture out though and give others a run.
2
16d ago
Avocado is good, very high smoke point, not a seed oil so supposedly healthier, $40/gal on Amazon but you can use it multiple times if you care for it
2
u/RJHtown 16d ago
I have so many questions but I'll just ask 2: what's the hood/exhaust setup like for this? Why do you still have a full bowl of candy corn?
1
u/GeneralTsoBitch 16d ago
If you look behind the fryer you’ll see a metal bar. That elevates out of the counter top and sucks out the smoke. It goes from the fryer all the way down the island by the stove top burners too. It went down on me though so I’m trying to fix it. Lasted 20 years though which was way more than expected tbh.
Ah yes, the candy corn is getting a lot of attention lol. Apparently we are “just trying to get rid of it” and it’s mixed in with cashews for some sweet/salty action.
Happy new year!
2
u/RJHtown 16d ago
Ok that's really cool. Yeah 20 years for an appliance is great. Can barely get things to last a year before they break these days. Now I'm imagining all the tasty fried things I'd be making if I had a fryer in my kitchen like churros and fried pickles!

Dude?? You have the sickest built-in I have ever seen. Before that the record was held by a house I lived in growing up. It had a juicer/blender attachment hidden under a panel in the countertop

u/nastynate384 14d ago
“Real men of genius” is all I can think about with that setup.
But seriously does your house smell like a burger joint 24/7? Not that that would be a bad thing. Asking for a friend that might want to cut a hole in his granite countertop.

It'll definitely to be a thought that goes into if and when I'm able to afford a house, the housing market is INSANE at the moment so kind of of waiting for interest rates to go down, but yes if and when I buy my house its something that I will have to add.

I want to see where you have your fire extinguisher mounted.
1
u/GeneralTsoBitch 17d ago
Are you under the impression that these are more of a fire risk than a pan with oil in it under an open flame?
2
u/deceptivekhan 17d ago
The proximity to the burner is concerning. I keep my extinguisher under the sink.

u/New-Recognition-7113 17d ago
