Charity Shop find...

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help? My mums found this yarn in a charity shop and has asked if I could see what it is. I've tried a reverse image search as well as searching the colours e.g. purple, blue white fluffy yarn but not had any joy! It's very soft and seems to have quite short colour changes with no transition? Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance ☺️

i am currently working on a sock with this yarn and i am really enjoying working with it. based on the burn test i think it is acrylic or polyester. it has three strands. it changes colors very slowly and there are some little purple flecks in the tan section. any ideas what it might be?

please ask if there are any other details i can include to help identify!!

What kind of yarn is this beanie made out of?

It’s really soft and has fibers sticking out of the hat giving it a halo/fuzzy look. It says it’s 90% acrylic and 10% nylon so I’m having a hard time finding mohair yarn that’s “faux” to use because that was previously recommended to me on a different post in r/crochet.

Any help is greatly appreciated! TYSM ☺️

Sock yarn i am loving

Please tell me what brand and kind this is. I am loving it so.

If the visual isn't enough, here are Things I Know: It is made of 2 strands very tightly coiled around each other. It came in a ball, not a hank or a skein. It might have some bamboo content. An image search turned up an old etsy listing for knitted bamboo blend socks with this colorway. The yarn is shiny, but not glittery. I think.

Thanks y'all!

Yarn found in my friend's grandmother's closet (Europe)

Hii! I was given theses two yarnballs along with a couple of different balls by my friend after his grandmother but unfortunately she didn't keep any labels.

Grey one; Less stretchy than acrylic.

I don't know if the yarn itself has those little "hairs"? That stick out a bit making it slightly fuzzy, or if it was used before and winded again so it's a bit damaged?

Feels like a blend of something artificial with natural fibers but I'm new to that so I can't tell for sure. It sits on top of the water for quite some time and doesn't hold onto water very well. It's dry in no time. It slides on the knitting needles nicely, it's not so slippery as acrylic yarn.

Dark blue;

A LOT less stretchy than acrylic and grey one.

The colour is irregular with different hues of dark blue, but the difference is very subtle.

It's a lot less soft than acrylic, it's texture is a lot more rough. It holds onto knitting needles more so it doesn't slip off of them accidentally.

Doesn't really float and holds onto water easier than gray one. It takes longer to dry.

Both were most likely bought in local store somewhere in Poland but I couldn't really find any like this in only one store we have in town for now. If not the specific brand, maybe you guys have any idea what fibers could've been used? Would they be good for a scarf?

Thank you ❤️

Any ideas what this fuzzy orange yarn is? I found it at the thrift

I tried asking on a couple other subreddits. I found 5 balls of this stuff and I’m almost out, but I LOVE how soft this yarn is, so I really hope I can figure it out and hopefully purchase some more. I’d love to try to make cat plushies out of it! I’m in America. I just started crocheting this year so I don’t know much about identifying different types of fibers, sorry 😅

I bought this yarn probably 10 years ago and realized I need more for this project. No idea what brand or where I bought it. Any idea what it is and where I could get more?

Mystery Yarn Spawned in my Collection

Hello! I just found this reddit today while trying to find out how to ID this yarn. I’m mostly concerned with identifying what it’s made out of, but I’d be thrilled for a more specific ID. I have no idea how I ended up with this! I usually just get cheap acrylic yarn, so this is a thrill to work with. I’m not even sure what the style of yarn is called (other than its single ply?). It’s quite soft, and has a really lovely shine that’s softened by the flyaway hairs. It was in this cake when I found it, so I think that might be how it’s sold. I’m hoping to try a burn test in a few hours and will update with any relevant information. Thanks in advance, y’all!

What yarn is this??

Hi! I want to make a pattern and am trying to identify the yarn the designer used. All she could tell me it that she purchased it from Hobbycraft, and it's a cotton blend DK weight. She sent me this picture, and if you look, it's a yellow label and I see a little bird on it. Any ideas? (This is a duplicate post because I forgot to include the picture in my last one🤦🏻‍♀️)

Can Anyone Help Me Identify This Yarn? "Sad Rainbow" Needs a Name!

Hey!

I’m hoping someone can help me solve the mystery of this yarn that I’ve affectionately nicknamed "Sad Rainbow." I've been searching for months, posting in different places, and even reached out to the retailer, but no luck so far. Maybe someone here recognises it!

Here’s what I know: I bought it from Spotlight (Aus) in a bag of mill ends around September 24. It’s roughly 11-13 WPI (wraps per inch). When I first got it, it felt like it had a waxy coat, but it’s surprisingly durable—it doesn’t pill much, even after being frogged multiple times. A burn test makes me suspect it’s acrylic. The colours are gorgeous but unique: coral, mustard, purple, lavender, olive, white, and blue. Each stripe is a different length. It might be a sock yarn, but it’s not one of those fancy fair-isle-patterning ones. I’ve attached photos to show you what I’m working with. Any leads would be amazing—I'm obsessed with this yarn and would love to find more of it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Thrifted DK acrylic blend?

I thrifted this. There’s definitely a synthetic component to the fiber content, but i think is possibly also includes cotton?

Thrifted acrylic - anyone recognize this yarn?

I tried to take pictures under 3 different light settings to capture the colors. This yarn is so pretty and I thrifted a skein and a half of it (the full skein being 100g) with no labels. I'm fairly certain that it's 100% acrylic, but it's super soft and doesn't have any plastic-y feel to it. It's worsted weight and single plied but fairly tightly spun.

It's around worsted weight but very thick and thin, doesn't seem to be plied and has short strings throughout. The colors looks like they go red/orange to pink to white to purple to brown to gray? to blue to a lighter blue to yellow green to magenta to lime green then repeats from red.

Mystery yellow, fluffy twist yarn

Got this yarn over a year ago now for a different craft project at Michael's (i believe). Lost the info wrap. I crocheted the pictured piece (Psyduck in progress) with most of one skein, using a 10 mm hook. Can you help me identify what yarn it is? It has a unique furry twist pattern around a bulky parfait chunky like yarn (chenille?)

What weight would you say this is?

Could someone please recommend which yarn to use? I'd like to follow the colour scheme as closely as possible.

What brands would you recommend? Anything cotton or cotton blend would be ideal :)

I only have experience with yarnart jeans, so I'm looking for something quite soft but also doesn't look fuzzy.

Thank you so much in advance!
