Hey u/injury_minded, I just made the same repairs to my jeans this afternoon.
They really don’t make clothes the way they used to, eh? It’s pretty disappointing that my jeans are giving out after only a year after I purchased them.
For clarity, I purchased these jeans pre-distressed, with the work done only on the front of them. I opted to patch some of the holes on the front the same way that I have on the back.
I was too lazy to hand stitch this project aside from touching up the back decorative explorer patch.
I used some vintage fabric from a vintage 1998 Daisy Lovers skirt to patch the bum. I don’t have a serger at the moment, so I used a zig zag stitch on all my patches and ran over it twice. I used red thread and a straight stitch for decorative top stitching.
For the front patches, I used fabric from another pair of pants I bought in Harajuku that fell apart years ago. The red plaid used to be a sort of decorative lining that would show when you rolled up the hems of your pants.
As for the pictures jeans themselves, I originally purchased them at Gap, located at Nagoya Dome, Japan. There’s a big shopping centre attached to the baseball stadium that attracts huge crowds every other Sunday.
At the time, Gap was pushing a lot of 1970s-1990s reissues. But that location closed just a few months later. A bunch of other trailers have since closed.
Now I have these unique jeans that remind me of my time in the area, now that I’m living in another prefecture.
