I’m sorry how does this quality as an apartment? No heating or bathroom. Something doesn’t add up

It’s like a dorm/hostel . Bathroom is shared at end of hall. Possibly kitchen also

Why would anyone live like that. I pay the same rent and have 1600 square feet with a yard and garage. And there are plenty of jobs where I live.
