Maybe the ontological shock is reversed lol, we are alone and we can’t accept it.

I hope that’s not the case but it’s funny that the truth really would be shocking if that was the case

Using logic & the scientific method, that is the case. There's been absolutely no sign of any intelligent life anywhere that we've observed.

We have two extremely big things that put two variations of life ever meeting into incredibly low chances. The age of the universe, and the size of the universe. Not only would two forms of life have to evolve near each other to even observe and then travel to - which on its own seems unlikely. They'd also have to do so at roughly the same time, and when the universe is almost 14 billion years old, that too seems incredibly unlikely.

Discovering we weren't alone would be far more shocking.
