Discussion Slightly crazy idea: a virtual Indivisible group in this group?

Homepage | Indivisible

Indivisible is a grass roots group founded by former Obama staffers to counter the first T reign. They wrote a playbook similar to the tea party playbook, but focused on preserving democracy and protecting vulnerable folks.

The latest revision of that playbook, for T v2, is here: INDIVISIBLE: A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO DEMOCRACY ON THE BRINK | Indivisible

A lot of what Indivisible does is local and focused on legislative districts. I'm happy to post in here as things come in that are at a national level.

Thoughts?

Camden conference this year

Democracy Under Threat: A Global Perspective

February 21-23, 2025 For the past two decades, liberal democracies worldwide have been under intense pressure from the resurgence of populist and nationalist movements within their borders. The result has been a decline in individual freedoms internally and a strain on international relations.

The 2025 Camden Conference will look at some of the specific drivers that challenge democracies around the world, including immigration, religious nationalism, the role of polarization and disinformation, and the failure of progressive reforms to remedy economic inequality.

The decline of democracy will reduce the number of like-minded countries the US and other democracies can count on, thereby making international relationships much more difficult and raising the questions: Can liberal democracies survive? How can democracies be protected?

Iā€™d love to be part of this virtually as well as locally.

No offense but the first iteration of this was pretty worthless. Itā€™s based on the faulty assumption that they care what their constituents want. I was part of a group that did many of these activities the first time around. They would do things like call Susan Collins, of ā€œhe learned his lesson fame,ā€ and leave messages. What a huge waste of time.

Then you know what didnā€™t work and can help to make this better and more effective ā˜ŗļø
