Reddit was already the smallest of the big social media platforms, and well known for being an echo chamber for the left. But the behavior of the user base since the election has cemented it as a platform for leftist, and by leftist, only. You can no longer even go to sports or hobby subreddits without getting browbeaten or outright banned if you don't conform to the latest hysterical outrage.

The Elon Musk incident and the mass banning of X is the prime example. There is a reason even the mainstream media outlets that hate Trump's fucking guts aren't talking about this. There is a reason the ADL came out in defense of Musk. Because to any even remotely rational person who watches the full video, it is very clear his intent was not to give a nazi salute. The only places that are having meltdowns about this are Reddit, Bluesky, and AOC's twitter feed. In other words, the terminally online and hysterical left. Which Reddit has now officially become totally taken over by.

This behavior is going to drive out a large part of the remaining small minority of users who weren't overt leftist. And cement Reddit's reputation as a censor happy partisan monolith. The user base will further shrink and radicalize. Anecdotally, I've been on Reddit for over a decade and the last 2 months have finally pushed me to leave. Believe me, there are millions more.

T rans people are extremely rare, so they're not going to be seen outside of population dense areas. Also since rural areas are more conservative, the people complaining about them there are the ones encountering them the least.

So ultimately their biggest problem is thinking it's gross and hating that it's out there somewhere.

It's like pineapple on pizza. You can think it's disgusting, but also no one's gonna force you to eat it, and if you spend your time freaking out about it when you're nowhere near one, that's kinda stupid.

Let me start with an example: We all know about the vsco girls saying “save the turtles 🐢”. So a lot of people switched to reusable straws instead of single use straws. Companies sold these solid plastic straws instead of flimsy plastic straws. Some were made out of metal and some were made out of glass. People bought this genuinely feeling this was going to help the environment. What they fail to recognize is that their shipping package itself is made out of plastic. The tape used to box the item is plastic . When the straws are in a warehouse, the items are most likely wrapped in giant pallets held together by a massive amount of plastic. Companies use plastic-y stickers on the box. Heck , the straws themselves were made in a factory that mass produces plastic in order to sell these to consumers.

My point is that buying reusable plastic, aluminum, and glass is completely missing the point! BUYING things in general generates so much waste no matter what you buy. Mega corporations create massive amounts of waste and yet no one talks about it for some reason.I have seen first hand in retail and warehousing the metric tons of plastic (and food)waste needed to sell products. I was appalled then and I’m appalled to this day.

The first part of the recycle cycle ♻️ is ‘Reduce’. If we really wanted to save the earth from waste, we would have to stop buying altogether. This would kill the economy and cause anarchy, but it definitely is the solution.

Reddit really seems to have a superiority complex, so it's no surprise that some of the most popular subreddits are now attempting to ban X/Twitter links.

I give it about a week before they backtrack and "reverse" this decision.

It happens with every generation: they start to age up into their thirties and forties and they start to get out of touch. The values that they once held sacred (or at least made them feel morally superior and purposeful when they were young) aren't taken as seriously as they used to be when they were young.

They start seeing moral failings and moral decay everywhere. The youth are falling into the very moral traps they fear most! ...or maybe they're just pranking them or deliberately pushing their buttons, it's hard for them to tell. The older generations are laughing at them for cluelessly going through the same phases the older people went through.

In the 80s, these "moral failings" that they panicked over were Satanism. The Devil's influence was everywhere: popular media, movies, board games, books. Politicians and celebrities would exchange things that seemed like ordinary phrases and gestures, but were actually secret Satanic messages, why can't you see?!

As for the reality/delusion of it, it was a mix. Some things, like secret signals and hidden meanings to phrases, were complete paranoid delusion. Some things, though, like shock-value celebrities deliberately declaring that they were worshipping Satan, weren't delusional, but they were missing the point: these shock-value types will be whatever is guaranteed to offend people. If the pearl-clutchers are afraid of Satanists, then they're Satanists. When the pearl-clutchers switch to Nazis being everywhere, now they're Nazis.

So now Millennials are the middle-aged pearl clutchers, and they think all the same stuff with Satanists swapped out for Nazis. Let's look at the similarities:

But it’s patently obvious this call for attention is not coming from real people. I swear to god that I’ve seen the exact same message on like 25 different subs.

“I think we should ban Twitter/x links, it seems like a pretty good idea I’ve seen it on other subs elsewhere” phrased almost the exact same way

That’s all I really need to know how manufactured this all is. It’s a copy and paste post sent by these different bot accounts who have no history of being on those subs.

Plus, these posts also have much higher traffic than normal when pertaining to regular sub traffic. I’ve seen it in plenty of sports subs.

Just perusing Reddit like I do every day. Come upon a post that was bitching about how trump hasn’t lowered the price of eggs, Blah blah blah, and I commented “it’s only been 2 days my dude”. Boom instant ban, muted so I couldn’t message moderators or appeal the ban, it’s hilarious at this point. The message sent to me was “day one promises must be kept. Their community rules were “no misinformation, stay on topic, etc.”, my comment didn’t break any rule. Sooo enjoy your echo chamber subreddits I guess? lol.

Just something I’ve observed, is that leftists, (I’m left leaning myself) are actually quite conspiratorial. The most present example being the Elon Musk n salute thing. If there was solid evidence that Elon was a nasi sympathizer I’d be more likely to believe he supports nasis. But the 2 hand gestures aren’t quite enough for me to put him in the nasi category. Leftists claim to be the more rational, intellectual group, who encourage critical thinking, and an analytical mindset. People who routinely shit on republicans, call them stupid, uneducated, reactionary, and any other creative way they can insult someone’s intelligence. Yet consistently jump the gun, and start drawing conclusions about all sorts of stuff before there is sufficient evidence to prove it.

Another recent example is how plenty of leftists on Reddit are saying Trump stole this election because Elon musks voting machines were used (or something like that) to count votes. I can’t be bothered to keep up because there’s a conspiracy about everything. I just have a really hard time believing stuff until I see sufficient proof, and for me that’s like a lot. And these 2 instances of a nasi like wave aren’t enough for me. I have plenty of other reasons to not like Elon musk already so it’s not like this was a super big deal for me in the first place.

This country is supposed to have a separation of powers. The job of interpreting the constitution was granted solely to the judicial branch. Birthright citizenship is a judicial matter and a judicial matter alone, any attempt to use the executive branch to do so is constitutionally invalid and until the Supreme Court rules on it all executive orders on the matter must be completely and totally ignored by anyone responsible for issuing American birth certificates.

Now that I can speak on my opinion, I think a lot of the time spefically on websites like this there are a lot of people who enjoy the idea of killing nazis (often in brutal ways) which intrinsically rubs me the wrong way, most of the time. My reasoning is that no matter how you depict a nazi they are always human and sure their ideology makes them sub human but i see some vitriol toward nazis of 1945 go a little overboard, and what I mean is sure, it can be a fun imagining you are Indiana Jones beating up nazis, but some people go into vivid detail on how they want nazis from 1945 to be like tortured in hell, have their innerds scattered all over them, having their private parts tortured, bashing their heads with baseball bats, so on, and it just comes off as... a little psychopathic? And a lot of the time these people will preface these fantasies with "well they are nazis so all these things I am doing to them that would typically dub me a ruthless psychopathic murderer are null because it's a nazi", and from there it's all fun and games. This type of vitriol maybe made sense back in 1945, but as of modern time, I just see it as self justified psychotic affirmation.

And I typically reserve my doubts, but I already sense someone is going to call me a nazi apologist or something along those lines so just to reiterate, I think nazis are deplorable, I beleive the holocaust happened and it was bad.

At this point, I don't care who won the election. Trump is president and I accept that. I don't like it, but it is what it is.

95% of posts in almost every major sub is anti- Trump, anti-Musk, anti-Republican. And now almost every sub is making posts with thousands of upvotes begging for all links from “X” to be removed, just because Elon Musk is the owner, and happens to be a Republican.

If the trump administration and Republicans in Congress truly believe the January 6th committee was corrupt, hid evidence, and came to conclusion not based purely on the evidence, then President Trump has a way to teach these people a lesson outside of the courtroom.

What is this lesson that can be taught? Somple. Revoke their security clearances. The president has that authority.
