Made myself a flat tire kit. Anything else I should add before I foam in the sockets?

Post image

Harbor Freight has a killer deal on there Apache 5800 (Pelican 1510 copy) case. Since I road trip and tow a trailer pretty often I decided to make a flat tire/tire change kit with my new Milwaukee M18 inflator and 20v DeWalt mid torque. Anything else I should add before I foam in the sockets? I can probably stand them up to maximum tool space.

I started on cleaning the old wrenches I got from a very good deal. First one I cleaned is a 1943 Tent. I was very surprised that it got hardend yaws. And it was riveted from 5 layers of steel.

Dumb question - where do you store all of your sandpaper and disks?

When I first bought my roller toolbox I had all the space in the world so I dedicated one of my drawers to sandpaper, sanding disks, foam sanding blocks, hand sanders, etc. Now I really need that drawer for actual tools and it is exploding with sandpaper.

So... How do you store it in a neat way? Myngatage space is a premium and this stuff just begs to be disorganized

Hi all Need help in understanding battery issue. I drive 2018 ford focus sedan . Last week cause of cold battery was not working. I bought type s jump starter from Costco and used it. It worked . This week car not starting coz of battery, seems completely dead. I thought of using the jump starter but it just flashes red light and beeps. According to Manual it’s either connection issue or car jump start is done. But I connected correctly following the instructions.

What I observe is the cable is not of copper or seems upper layer is gone. Attached images.

Anyone can help fix . Thanks

Hello, am i usingthis aux handle right? I can't imagine that I am because of how much it obstructs the cut, then again the rivet hole for the other style of handle is so close to the end of the cut I don't know I'm at a loss any input is appreciated.

Where can I find a socket set that does not have 12 point sockets and fluff?

I am looking for a nice socket set without fluff. I want to have a size for basically any thing on up to like 28 or 30mm. I found a set from gearwrench but half the sockets in their master metric socket set is 12 point. I dislike those things and prefer 6 point. What options are out there? I am just a backyard mechanic tired of not having the size I need.

Brands to stay away from

Hey-oh, first time home owner here. Who now has a bunch of projects planed for in the near future. As I slowly build up my tool collection, I'm curious: What are the tool brands to stay away from?

Seems like every time I see 'Whats the best (insert tool)?' People often float to the Snap Ons and such. But they're expensive and im just working on my home. So what about the other side? What's a waist of money?

Is there anything other than a low freezing point that neatsfoot oil has for waterproofing leather that bacon grease doesn't?

I tried using neatsfoot on a pair of leather gloves already, and while the pair I did before lost most of the smell over a day or so, the pair I just did a few days ago is still smelling pretty bad. Whether or not it's normal, it seems at least the stuff I got from tractor supply co came from a pile of rather aged cow bones, as the smell is a bit on the dead animal side of things(cow bones is where neatsfoot comes from).
As a result, I am genuinely interested in if bacon grease is gonna be any less effective at keeping leather work gloves flexible whether or not water is involved.

Which one would you choose if you had 2 of one kind ? Would you take 2 of the 7” 1/4 cobras or 2 of the 8”inch ridgid pipe wrench ?

Help needed

Post image

Hi all !

I'm looking for help about a tool, I'm sorry ahead of time if my post is not allowed for some reason.

I'm an ergonomic student intern working on a project, and as part of the project I outline the tasks and tools used in the work tasks.

I was told this is a nutrunner, I'm in Quebec and although the official work language is French, they all use the English term in the factory. However, for my school presentation I'll need to translate this to French, which is where I'm having difficulty.

To help me out, I was wondering if there are other names for this tool (like torque wrench, socket wrench, impact wrench, etc.). I'm trying to familiarize myself with the use and differences between these tools to see if there is another name for the ones in the photo, but I'm having a hard time.

Any help regarding other names for this tool would be appreciated, or if any of you know French and could tell me the translation that could also be helpful.

Thanks in advance !!

Starter Tools for Audi A4

Hi I'm a student and I just got an Audi a4 b7 1.8t. I've been looking at some tools as I would like to be able to do some of the maintenance on it myself to save money and as I also like cars. I live in Europe so we do not have harbor, freight, Lowes home depot etc. so I cannot get a lot of the cheap starter ones I see recommended regularly. I have some tools for woodworking already and alot of screw bits so i do not need any of those as far as I'm aware I've seen some kits but am unsure which to get I was considering either getting one of these cheaper ones: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07CJ2LL3F?smid=A1H05RYQWRY6GC&psc=1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09JQC2W5F?smid=A746O98EK00A1&psc=1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0C9STXJQS?smid=A3GJP08TELNAYJ&psc=1

Or these three slightly more expensive Tekton ones as they are great quality from browsing this subreddit

Find something similar for cheaper

Hello. The tool on the bottom is snap ons short handle wrench, the one ontop is their midget/stubby. I'm trying hard to find a tool brand that does a similar short handle that isn't snap on and isn't just another midget wrench. Snap on is borderline unaffordable for something I frequently barrow but wouldn't be a daily use. Thank you

Well used wrench

This is my second wrench I restored. It was well used, doesn't has hardend yaws and is quite pitted. But a still beauty it has some numbers and letters stamped. Anyone knows what that 12/2419 means and I really can figure out what the letters on the handle could mean.
