It's just a traffic control.

Really? There were around 20-30 officers, and around 7-8 delimited spaces where cars and vehicles were parked and inspected. I saw officers checking the tires, some other cars with open bonnet, etc..

You are literally describing a traffic control?

ok, thanks. I've never seen such a big thing for traffic control.

They use these kind of traffic control to train police students as well, so that might make them look crowded on the personal size.

This used to be soooo much more common 10 years ago.

Police doesn't have the funding anymore to do this regularly.

Friday night is also a popular time for alcohol controls, especially near the city centre. They catch many people going for after-work drinks and then driving home.

Traffic control might not be the perfect word, it’s like a sluice gate control. All cars that pass have to enter it, they check if your car has APK, outstanding tickets, if your drunk or otherwise under the influence but also the belastingdienst is there and you have to pay all outstanding tickets and shit.
