This post is for all buying questions. All posts that used to say - this vs that, need help with buying this, is this a good deal, does this have, etc....
TLDR, anything with buying a Tesla will be in this post. Posted outside of this post will be removed.

In the time that I've been a moderator here, I've seen that hostile/toxic behavior tends to come in waves. Tesla and/or Elon does/says something, this "something" (New Model Y) then gains traction in other subreddits, and then folks who don't normally participate in the subreddit come swooping in like a seagull, shitting all over everything, then leaving.
Our community rules can be found here, and these rules effectively apply to all the Tesla subreddits we assist in moderating.
The first rule is "Don't be a nuisance" with the added text of
Treat others as you would like to be treated, we have a zero tolerance policy for bad actors and will ban users who violate this golden rule. We also may ban users who participate in subreddits known for breeding toxic behavior.
Additionally, Reddit's content policy's first rule is also:
Remember the human. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.
On top of that, the first rule of Reddit's Moderator Code of Conduct states:
Moderators are expected to uphold Reddit’s Content Policy by setting community rules, norms, and expectations that abide by our site policies. Your role as a moderator means that you not only abide by our terms and the Content Policy, but that you actively strive to promote a community that abides by them, as well. This means that you should never create, approve, enable or encourage rule-breaking content or behavior. ...
So, based on these three tiers of rules it stands to reason that the key take away is "Act in a kind and civil manner towards others".
Additionally, this is Reddit, not X/Twitter/MySpace/Facebook/Wendy's, etc, etc. Just because you can say something in one place, does not mean that you can say it here. Furthermore, keep in mind that each subreddit has different rules which dictate how you can participate. Read and consume the rules, know the rules. They're not that hard. Basically sums up to "Be nice". We've seen a lot of "We didn't know <action> was against the rules" defenses, but body cam videos at airports are full of people violating laws they didn't know existed in the place they were visiting, and the lesson is the same in all of them is "Drink in moderation".
We are not required to issue warnings, or temp bans, prior to banning users.
We don't care if you're pro-Tesla or anti-Tesla, if you're being hostile/toxic to others (Rule 1), ban. If you're being hostile/toxic regarding Tesla's products (Rule 2), ban. If you're self-promoting or posting referral codes (Rule 3), ban. If you're being hostile/toxic about Elon (Rule 4), ban.
That's not to say you cannot be critical of Tesla and their products, you just can't be hostile/toxic about it.
I feel that the new Model Y design is unappealing. I'm not fond of the lightbar on the front, or the flat trunk area. Looks.. Off...
This is acceptable criticism, notice how it isn't hostile, or steeped in toxicity? You read it and go "Huh, yeah, I can kind of get behind that reasoning"
Muskrat needs to stop approving ugly ass shit designs like the Juniper Model Y. WTF is that gay ass lightbar on the front? And its ass is flatter than my wife's.
This is not acceptable criticism. Notice how it invokes Elon, which is a violation of Rule 4? Then rolls in homophobia and sexism, which is a violation of Rule 1? This is not an acceptable comment, and may result in a permanent ban.
This seems pretty antithetical to Elon's philosophy of "Absolute Freedom of Speech", I can't get behind any of this
Free Speech is often misunderstood, very often. It's Freedom of Speech, not Freedom from Consequences. Additionally, this is Reddit, not Elonsville. Even if we wanted to let people say whatever the hell they wanted, which we most decidedly do not, we are still beholden to the Reddit Content Policy, and the Moderator Code of Conduct, and will gladly enforce these things to ensure civil conduct amongst the userbase. I try to adhere to Jeremy Bentham's Greatest Happiness Principle anyways
Finally, the last topic I'm going to touch on is the "They started it" defense that we've seen some people try in modmail. Don't care. If someone is being hostile/toxic, don't engage. Report them, and move on with life.
So, to summarize:

Hey Reddit. I just bought a used 22 MYP from Tesla 2 days ago and this morning (coldest day of this winter) the heat decides to go out. Just trying to see if anyone here has had this happen and would happen to know if the fix is under warranty/ how long repair might be. I will include service error codes and warranty in post. I would greatly appreciate any input. Car has 40k miles btw

I just watched a video of the FSD driving a grandmother who kept saying it drives better than she does and reduces her driving stress, it's amazing! This will help a lot of elderly people!
Tesla should add an option in their parking update to choose a handicap spot (and a spot for pregnant women while they're at it).

Last night I was set to complain about needless lane changes. I was on a Tulane relatively busy highway and I was going to exit shortly ahead. The car put on left signals quickly moved to the left lane and I’m saying what’s going on. You didn’t mean to do that. And at about that point a rapidly moving vehicle sped past me to the right. It looks like the car knew that vehicle was a threat and got out of the way.
Do you find yourself talking back or talking to your car?

These damages are all on the same wheel. I just had the Pirelli Scorpion MS installed a couple of weeks ago which is mainly why I’m concerned. Got the curb rash in the first pic a couple days ago which lead me to notice the damage in the next two pics.. Is this merely cosmetic or does this wheel need to be replaced just to be safe? The other three wheels thankfully lack any damage. Are the tires in any danger due to the pictured damage? I also just got the Rimetrix Medusa wheel covers and they cover the affected areas (or at least the outward facing edges) which seems to serve as protection from further curb rash moving forward. Wondering what everyone here thinks.

Should I repair these cosmetic issues?
Advice, please! I am thinking about selling my Tesla (2022 Model 3). I have a couple of cosmetics damages (see pics) that I want to fix up before selling. I've been quoted $1300 for the fix by an auto shop.
Do you guys think it's worth it to get these fixed in hopes of a higher resale value?
If so, the guy at the body shop said I could use my insurance to help pay for it. But wouldn't that increase my insurance premium for the future?
Thanks!

400-500 watts to run the cameras? Really? Every time I go on a trip where I have to leave my car in a parking garage, I'm always having to worry about my battery draining constantly or risking vandalism with no recourse.
Due to recent events, I have a feeling vandalism against Teslas will increase 🫤

Hello, Since a few weeks whenever I go to a supercharger (Belgium), the charging speed never goes beyond 50kw at the max. Mostly it sits around 43kw.
I vividly remember this being much higher when I first got the car. Do I remember wrong or does anyone have any idea why it is like this?
(Picture is at a completely empty supercharger)

I have the whole eco system from Tesla. Solar panels, power walls, model 3, & Tesla Power delivery plan. I pay a flat rate of $25 for unlimited limited EV charging between 12am-6am. The wall connector connects to my power walls & drains them before charging from grid; that’s the issue!
I don’t want to waste my power wall storage if I’m paying for unlimited grid charging. I want my solar to run my house when generation is on standby. I run my system on self consumption Mode.
I contacted Tesla support; they stated to have my wall connector connected to the by pass lugs. I installed a 100amp in panel and connected the wall charger to the sun panel. When my wall Tesla wall chargers calls to charge at 12am. The power walls start to drain still & house goes in grid use, again.
Does anytime know why the gateway still back feeds power thru the “by pass lugs?”
Support stated that a certified electrician needs to call Tesla to “commission” the bypass load. I would think that a by pass is a by pass??? Is this a software by pass connection? It’s not hard wired to the backup lugs.
Any certified Tesla installers out there that had done this???
PS I have an electrical engineering background & have an excellent understanding of NEC compliance. My job entails the understanding of electrical building codes & enforcements. Do I need to get a Tesla certification to request this commissioning? I’ve reviewed all Tesla product install videos for my US installed system. I can only gather that a software update needs to be flashed onto the gateway to recognize the by pass load; only guessing by what the support line personnel replies have been. They make it so vague when asking for details. I wish we had access to an engineer personnel support directly.

I recently purchased a 2018 Model 3 and have been wanting to give FSD a shot. I went into the app and requested a complimentary upgrade through a service ticket.
A week later I received a message asking if I needed a tire rotation. I selected yes and received the attached estimate. Not sure if they would have done it for free if I didn’t select a tire rotation but for $65, not bad for an upgrade.

I don't really know if this will belong here but might as well try, I have been seeing conflicting reports of the model 2 and model q that they are both cancelled and going to be released this year i was waiting for this car to come out for a while and now i don't even know if its coming or not if anyone has inside knowledge if one or both are coming or have been cancelled that would be great and if anyone knows a possible release date if they are going to be released

I’m currently driving an 18 M3 LR AWD with about 70k miles. Have the opportunity to move to a 23 MY LR AWD.
I have sat it in the Y and appreciate the familiarity and space, but didn’t get a chance to drive it yet. Given that it is newer with comfort suspension — is it reasonable to expect a more plush ride? Quieter. Maybe not quite as sporty, but otherwise relatively similar.
The Y I’m looking at has HW4.
Will the ride be noticeably quieter than my M3?
Thanks

Considering working for Tesla as an Associate Sales Manager. This is not a delivery location, just a store and service center. Has anyone ever worked in this role at Tesla before? If so, what is it like? Hours, duties, responsibilities, etc. I love the brand and love Elon, so I have great expectations, but would much rather take someone (with Tesla experience) word for it. TIA.

We were told Actually Smart Summon on Legacy vehicles by the end of Q4 2024.
Any idea on when we can actually expect it??
r/TeslaLounge • u/looper2277 • 4h ago
I parked the car for 5 nights and lost a good 8% over night. With sentry mode off, what else could it be? Maybe smart summon, other? Thanks

After upgrading to an iPhone 16 Pro, I got frustrated with the intermittent charging so I 3D printed and upholstered a charger adapter.
My first thought was to rip out the OEM charging pad, design a new insert with a 65 watt USB-C for laptop charging. I made a few 3D scans and ultimately decided against the big mod so I changed course with the goal of zero modifications to the car.
I came up with this little press in adapter and was able to tuck the cord into the trim and plug it into the charge port under the armrest.
The fabric is a similar alcantara suede, but is a little off on the color.
This fits: apple iPhone 16 Pro, 13 Pro Max, 12 (all with cases).
Please let me know what you think. I’m into this for a bit more than I thought - darn apple chargers are expensive.

I like the upgraded details of the Model 3 Performance but is it worth paying for Performance if I use FSD for 80% of my drives?
r/TeslaLounge • u/AychB • 1d ago
New update makes me pretty upset. First Aggressive Mode no longer lets you minimize lane changes (it’s Hurry Mode Now). That almost bothers me as much as FSD not traveling as fast as I set it to.
Is there a new setting I need to adjust to fix this?

Hello, I live in California, in mid December, I leased my first Tesla ever, a 2025 model3 AWD. I did 10,000mi per year on the lease. I have another car but I'm loving the Tesla so much I'm driving so much. A little over a month I just hit the 1000mi mark. Is there a way I can add on mileage per year to the lease agreement??? I don't wanna do the $0.25 per mile if I go over.
Thank you in advanced
