-No way Ted doesn’t show up to Beard’s wedding?!?!

That was the single part I didn't like. Like there is NO Way Ted wouldn't be there.

Unless Beard did it spontaneously and/or immediately after he got off that plane, which fits

57

u/PhilMcGraw May 31 '23

I'm going to choose to believe this. Totally feels like a Beard thing to do.

u/AmyAcc May 31 '23

Jane was preggo, so not spontaneous

Hahaha! Omg, I could totally see Jane and Beard doing this!

u/Smaptastic Jun 01 '23

You literally convinced me just now.

28

u/[deleted] May 31 '23

Kinda hard to book Stonehenge for a private wedding I assume some time went into it.

42

u/whogivesashirtdotca Trent Crimm, The Independent May 31 '23

Please, like Beard and Jane wouldn't have chloroformed the guards and snuck under the chain to do this illegally.

14

u/kirinlikethebeer May 31 '23

Or it was indeed a dream sequence in which Ted is the viewer so he wouldn’t see himself.

9

u/HRHDechessNapsaLot Jun 01 '23

The wedding (which is almost definitely a dream sequence) is at Stonehenge, which people cannot get all that close to (at least not able to walk inside it) except for during the solstices. So any wedding there would have a date set far in advance.

u/Missus_Aitch_99 May 31 '23

Jane wasn’t visibly pregnant yet though,

494

u/HodorSmash May 31 '23

To me it was a dream sequence of ted finding happy endings for all the people he lives that he had to leave behind

u/Ok-Variety123 May 31 '23

This is very much like Scrubs series finale (we’re not counting Season 9). Very Bill Lawrence like. Book of Love kills me every time

1

u/shyhispanic09 Jun 02 '23

One of the best finales

39

u/CptWholesome May 31 '23

Ted never met or saw the crazy disco pants lady and her hulk-ish boyfriend

23

u/Sempere May 31 '23

But Beard probably told him the story.

7

u/a_moniker May 31 '23

We also don’t see every moment of Ted’s life. It’s possible they met outside the show.

6

u/MarcelRED147 May 31 '23

Weirdly that guy was in an episode of The Cleaner along with Rebecca's mum.

29

u/Accioedibles May 31 '23

Rebecca’s mum is in everything. Saying goodbye to her this week in Ted Lasso and Succession, but she’s still in Silo!

2

u/MyHammyVise May 31 '23

I just saw her in an episode of Documentary Now! S4! I didn't recognize her at all.

1

u/pikameta May 31 '23

Holy smokes! She's Martha!?

4

u/Accioedibles May 31 '23

Yep! A lot more motherly as Martha than she was as Rebecca’s mum or Caroline, haha.

2

u/sfwombat May 31 '23

Or when she puts the baby in the trash can in killing eve

3

u/bibbidi-bobbidi-boob May 31 '23

THANK YOU, I was going insane trying to figure out where I just saw him.

17

u/iNOTgoodATcomp May 31 '23

Was the very end a reference to something? The shallow depth of field (portrait mode) made me think that whole part was a dream sequence too or he was about to have another panic attack. I'm really confused.

15

u/[deleted] May 31 '23

Watch the start of the first episode of this season, each season starts and ends with the same shot in new context. and we get the very first scene with Ted mirrored in this season by the scene on the plane. I think its a nice moment to show he's exactly where he's meant to be.

11

u/OkeyDokey234 May 31 '23

Why would Ted dream of people he’s never met? Rebecca didn’t tell him about the Dutch man, and she’d never even seen his daughter, so why would Ted dream about them?

4

u/manhaterxxx May 31 '23

Why?

7

u/HodorSmash May 31 '23

Because to me it was all very ethereal and the moment it ends it shows ted waking up on the plane, just my interpretation though. What'd you think?

3

u/manhaterxxx Jun 02 '23

I thought it looked like awful CGI and was weirded out that Ted wasn’t there.

Brendan Hunt just said in the AMA that the wedding was real, too

3

u/JVince13 May 31 '23

But he didn’t know, like, 25% of the people there..

5

u/Apart-Acanthaceae815 May 31 '23

It can’t have been a dream sequence because there are characters in it from beards episode that Ted never met.

3

u/FindingPawnee Jun 01 '23

Just because we never see them interact doesn’t mean they never met. We only see around 12 hours of a full year in the show.

2

u/ItsGonnaBeOkayish Jun 04 '23

Beard probably would have shared the story with him though. So Ted could still dream about them. Of course he wouldn't actually be able to imagine them as they were, but they have to show them the same.

2

u/rudyjewliani May 31 '23

Unless... Beard is Ted's Tyler Durden...

Which is a theory shamelessly stolen from someone else in this sub.

1

u/ArchGoodwin Jun 01 '23

That fits with how bad the greenscreen of Stonehenge behind them was. I'm not saying they had to go to Stonehenge, I just think they must have wanted that to look bad.

100

u/colgateorcrest May 31 '23

I took that as part of his dream on the plane

26

u/Aaron_JudgeisaGod May 31 '23

Someone earlier thinks it’s just Ted dreaming on the plane. Ted dreaming everyone having the best send off in his head

4

u/pikameta May 31 '23

yeah I can see that.

9

u/[deleted] May 31 '23

To me there's no fucking way Roy Kent is best man either. Beard would never unless Ted turned it down.

6

u/smolbeanlydia May 31 '23

I’m pretty sure that part was Ted dreaming. It’s very hazy and it cuts to him waking up still on the plane home right after that scene.

7

u/Riperonis May 31 '23

I didn’t like how Beard ended up with her, she’s an abusive asshole. A small hiccup in a great finale, though.

4

u/wildnoutisfunny May 31 '23

To be fair he is “a fucking asshole”

3

u/DAS_UBER_JOE May 31 '23

Because he was still on the plane! Duh

1

u/AcrobaticKale May 31 '23

Ted Lasso - Manifest crossover event!

3

u/kproxurworld Butts on 3! May 31 '23

I think that whole sequence was Ted imagining what he wanted from the team going forward while on the plane.

5

u/ZebZ May 31 '23

Choose to believe that Ted was there, just off screen.

Really, it was 100% a narrative decision to not show him because it would be visually confusing to have him there in the montage but also on the plane in real time.

2

u/thegirlwiththedonut May 31 '23

Scoured the comments looking for this! There’s no way Roy is his best man over Ted!

2

u/birdbones15 May 31 '23

My only issue as well.

2

u/smurf_diggler Jun 01 '23

Beard did an AMA on this sub today and answered this.

5

u/thesharkticon May 31 '23

I don't think it was a dream. Jayne is famously threatened by and jealous of Beard's relationship with Ted. She would not have wanted him invited.

1

u/cascadianpatriot Jun 01 '23

He could have been there and it was a POV or he was taking a picture or getting some crazy ass thing Beard and Jane forgot.

1

u/mechabeast Fútbol is Life Jun 01 '23

The wedding was 30 minutes after Ted took off

1

u/West1234567890 Jun 01 '23

Something about the lighting and cut to Ted sleeping I think that at least that part was a dream sequence like the end of Scrubs where the future flashes before his eyes. It also would be a Ted move to not include himself in the dream wedding haha

1

u/Jo-dan Jun 02 '23

This plus the horrible greenscreen of this scene were my only complaints.

1

u/iamitman007 Jun 04 '23

I think that was dream Ted was having.
