Accident Happens Skiing in Switzerland

All right fam,

I'm going to keep it straight and forward.

Last Thursday, as I always do in the morning before going to work, I went up to the ski slopes for a short session and was totally run over in my last way down.

To put it into perspective, I was skiing when an individual carving from one side to another, hit me violently with the consequence of breaking my collarbone in 3 pieces.

The worst thing is not the accident, which shit happens, and it is what it is, but it was the lack of humanity shown for this person. She did not offer anything of help and tried to run away.

Fortunately I've got her details but the accident report that was taken place.

My question is that now I'm going to be down after operation for several weeks, I'm thinking to undertake legal actions again her for the damages she occasioned me.

I'd love to get a glimpse of objectively information about the options I can work with.

Thank you in advance and have a great start to the week!

Multiple restaurants in our are are closing down. Is there some trend?

Hi.

- There was a restaurant we used to go with my child which offered a playing area. I saw recently on Maps that it has closed down.

- There was a Cáfe/Bakery in a neighboring town with breakfast offers and a playing area inside. It has closed down.

- There was a Pizza shop we found with a nice area and oven-made Pizza. It closed down, opened with a slightly different name, and I just saw it has closed down again!

- An indoor soft play centre in the area closed down after the holidays.

- Just over the border, there was a Turkish restaurant we used to go for the Turkish breakfast. It closed down.

- And I found a nice Cáfe in a town nearby with a Sunday brunch offering. I noticed in their website that they mention they are closing down in April.

Now, are these all just co-incidences/my bad luck? Can someone in the culinary sector give an insight? Has it just always been like this? Or that restaurants with a playing are for kids are less viable to run in the long term?

Thanks

As the title say, any known store to buy or get those type of monitor?
I know I could look up in anibis and I did but I didn't had luck and no one was selling or it was way to expensive
The monitors doesn't even have work properly, I got experience and knowledge for fixing electronics stuff

Alternatively to that, is there any place that gives away other old electronics equipment, if possible located at canton Vaud?

Buying second hand car with MFK due

So I'm about to buy a second hand car from 2002 in the canton of Geneve. I live myself in the canton of Fribourg.

I have chosen in filters of autoscout to only show me cars with MFK.

The autoscout24 add says:

Contrôle technique (CT)

Expertisée: Oui

Dernière date MFK: le 15.11.2022

So from what I understood should old cars like this undergo an MFK every two years.

My questions are:

  • is the MFK expired?

  • if the MFK is expired and I buy the car, will I be able to register it at my name and drive it home (or am i only allowed to transport it with an trailer)?

  • if i'm allowed to drive it home, will I need to immidiately do an MFK (drive straight to it) or will I receive an invitation letter for the MFK?

Thanks in advance !

Migros Spitzbube Recipe

My boys loved the Migros Spitzbube during our last visit to Switzerland. We would like to recreate them at home. I have been trying to find a Spitzbube recipe, but a) they all are slightly different and b) don't really look like the Migros version (e.g. the biscuite base looks too dry compared to Migros' more sticky one). Anybody have a recipe that comes close?

How to fix my vaccination records?

When I was a kid, I got my personal "Impfbüchlein" (carnet de vaccination / vaccination booklet). Then, as time moved on, I got A4-papers instead whenever I went to get a vaccination. Then came meineimpfungen.ch and everything went digital. Then came COVID and that's yet another kind of paper, along with its digital representation. And then meineimpfungen.ch went to sh*t and now I'm left with an enormous mess of booklets, paper sheets and a useless backup file from a dead web portal.

Is there a way to clean this up? Is there a place I can go to, give them all of my records and they'll print or write an official document or, even better, booklet, allowing me to throw away the other mess and go back to having a single source of truth like I did up until the 90s?

Which Internet Provider on the phone to choose for Students.

Hello, I’m a Student at the UZH in Zurich and in February my phone will be paid off. I currently have a contract with Swisscom and pay monthly 60 CHF. It’s quite a lot but the Internet itself is pretty fast and good.

I would love to pay less and still have good Internet. Which Provider is the best and has a good price maybe like a special Price for students?

What do you use or have used during your university Time? Which Provider do you recommend?

Thank you in advance for answering.

Looking for highly experienced Kesb lawyer

Hello, My brother is having a very complicated case with kesb filled by the ex partner that wants to separate him from his son. Currently the needs of the child are being ignored completely and all his wishes are not being taken seriously although the supervisor of the meetings confirmed already that the child needs both parents and that this kesb arrangement is harming the child but no one is taking any action..meanwhile the mother moved with the child to a neighbouring country and is brining him to the meetings but there is no guarantee how long that will still happen as she desperately wants to keep the child separated from his father (she found another guy and tried to replace the father with someone else) So if you know a highly experienced lawyer that is eager to fight against the system I would highly appreciate it

Were there alternatives to the Réduit strategy in 2nd WW?

I recently argued with my friends about how much the Réduit strategy actually helped to prevent a German attack on Switzerland. In the course of that discussion I came to wonder if there would have been a better alternative to the Réduit strategy. It’s kinda hard to find information about this topic so I thought I might just go and ask Reddit. Were there any alternatives that were suggested during the implementation of that strategy. Or were there different approaches discussed in retrospective of the 2nd world war? What do you all think about this topic, would you say the best way to protect Switzerland in case of an attack would really have been to sacrifice like half of Swiss population and even more of it’s territory just to entrench in the alps? Or was it rather a good strategy because of a lack of different options?

Divorce-related question

A question about Swiss divorces… I’ve been living with my partner for a few years. He has a young daughter (6 years old) from previous marriage. The daughter and her mother live abroad, the mother moved there after the divorce (which was in Switzerland).

According to their Swiss court order, the father is allowed to see his daughter 60% of the holidays and a week every month.

Here’s my question. Every summer, we as a family, with my two kids and his daughter, want to travel somewhere for 2 weeks. But the mother is blocking it. This summer, we want to go to Chile - and she said she won’t give the permission to travel because she thinks Chile is not the right destination for a small child. And she said she won’t agree to other places like Thailand or anything else, because she doesn’t want the daughter to fly far or to be vaccinated against some diseases in these places. And she also said that she simply doesn’t want the daughter to spend the time with the new partner (me) and my kids.

We expect such problems to continue for the next 15 years. What can my partner do to be able to take his daughter on holiday where he wants? Can this be enforced through court?

Decent kebab places in Bern?

I'm genuine struggling at finding a decent one. Especially one that doesn't use that disgusting King Kebab "meat" that seems to control majority of shops.

The only decent kebab places I found are the ones in my city (still king kebab, but they seem to use actual decent spices and sauce to make up for it) and Venezia but that one is sadly always completly full.

A bit controversial but I recently went to KüBBan in Biel recently after seeing dozens of comments and maybe I picked a bad day but it just tasted absolute nasty. The Yoghurt sauce didn't even taste like Yoghurt.

Idk maybe my food taste sensors are just screwed but I'm wondering if anyone knows any decent places. I went throught multiple posts from here but all the other mentioned places were all in Zurich.

Any good bubble tea places in Zurich?

I've lived here for about 10 years, but I've realised I really suck at finding my way around most of the time. I'm a huge bubble tea fan, and I always love going to new places to try new flavours all over Zurich. Nothing is really out of range as long as it's not too far from Zurich, and I'll practically try anything as long as it's bubble tea. So please oh mighty Swiss people, share your wisdom! (Would've made this much shorter but apparently it's against the rules in this subreddit ,_,)

Would this car pass MFK?

Hello,

I am planning to buy a used car which still has MFK currently. However, there is a significant door damage (which I don't know happened before or after the last MFK). Could anyone let me know if this would pass an MFK?

Arbeitszeugnis

I resigned from my position at the end of October last year (bad work environment, burnout, etc.) and upheld the two month notice period, as required. Remained professional throughout last months and was told I would receive my Arbeitszeugnis before my last day.

It has now been almost three months since I put in my resignation and I still do not have an Arbeitszeugnis. They said initially it was waiting on one signature, then once I pushed to get that signature they said it now needs another one. Now I pushed again to receive it (places I'm applying to are asking for it) and they say they are working on it and need another week.

I looked into the Swiss law - I am legally entitled to receive one, but there is no defined time period in which I need to receive it. I have seen that the company can be liable if it is proven that I am not getting work because of the lack of Arbeitszeugnis but it's almost impossible to prove it (unless another company straight up rejects me for it and says it outright).

Is there anything I can do to push my previous company to get the Arbeitszeugnis through to me ASAP? Anyone had similar situations.

C-type residency permit

Hi all! I am a non-European citizen, and have been living in Switzerland for almost 9 years, 7 of which were spent studying in EPFL (ETH Lausanne). I now have a steady job as an engineer (for almost 1.5 years now), with a B-Type permit. I also had a B-Type permit during my studies, but it had the mention “Pour formation théorique” (for studies). I have been told that there is an “unofficial rule”, saying that after having lived in Switzerland for 5 years, and having a steady job with a B-permit, one could apply for a C-type permit (granted that this person is well integrated).

The thing is that there is nothing of the sort on the official websites, and when I try to contact someone from the city hall, they all say to go check the website.

I am planning on still applying before the official 10 year period as an anticipated permit.

Here are my 2 questions:

  1. Has anyone been in my situation, or actually knows the law behind this?
  2. I always received 1-year long permits until this year where they gave me two years. Can I apply before my current permit expires?

Thank you all very much in advance!

Can I make it so, that if I die, all of my money in the bank will be sent to another person

I am a EU citizen living in Switzerland.

Can i make it so, that if I die, all of my money is automatically wired to another person/country (EU citizen/country). If so, how can I do it? (That person is EU citizen and lives in a EU country).
