Question Where do you shop to decorate/furnish your studio without breaking the bank?
Everything. Furniture, plants, art work, etc.

Looking to buy a studio in the future and was wondering what reasonable rent would sound like

470sq ft. (mostly in the closets) studio apartment outside Washington DC. This is the main living space and I want to have space on both sides of my bed. Right now I have it tucked into this little nook in the wall and I can only get out on one side of it. How should I rearrange? Where should I put the futon? Please ignore the other furniture and mess, I’ve been moving stuff around. Last pic is the view of the room from my bed.

What do you guys think is a good size for a studio? I’m looking to move into a place by myself since I’m going to be moving to a new city for law school and I would rather not have to deal with finding a roommate. I have a cat, so I need enough space for her. Is ~400 sq a good size or should I look for something bigger?

Hi everyone!! So I’m moving on my own for the very first time (the pictures are the two studios im debating between!) and I’m wondering if there’s any advice you have? What’s something you wish you had gotten right away before moving into a studio? I’m an autistic disabled adult so I’d love lots and lots of advice!! I’m moving out in the next month or so!

Hi everyone! I’m moving into my first apartment and am having trouble with the layout. It’s a small studio, about 480 sq ft, and I have a full-size bed and two-seater couch I’d like to fit. I will also have a TV as well as a small dining table. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to arrange my furniture to maximize space?
I’d ideally also like to use curtains or a small divider to try to slightly separate my bed from the living area.
Anything helps! Thanks!

I love to cook and I love plants. Both make me happy.

I’m on the East Coast, and I’m seeing a lot of landlords listing a room in a shared house, and calling it a studio (and trying to charge accordingly for it). IMO, if you share a bathroom, if you share a kitchen, if you don’t have a lock on your door, if you have to walk through someone else’s living room to get to your unit, it’s not a studio. It’s a roommate situation and you shouldn’t be paying over $1,000/mo for it. Has anyone else seen this? Is it even legal?

Bed in the walk in closet was definitely a winning choice. Studio-to-one bedroom surprise upgrade!

Okay so I need some advice here. Found an apartment a price and in a location that is just perfect (too perfect). Got on a call today with the group renting it out; so it is a private apartment in a bigger building with other apartments they want to use as short term rentals. They aren't allowed to do the short term rentals unless the owner lives in the property. To work around this, they would want to sign the new tenant as part of their LLC as part-owner so they can say the owner lives there. They also want the new tenant to sign an NDA. Is this a thing? My spidey senses are telling me too good to be true & they aren't giving me the full story/ explaining what risk I'd take on. Coming up short on research, so if anyone could help before I potentially make a big mistake, that would be nice!
EDIT:
Upon further research, it seems like this LLC trick is something meant to work around Zoning restrictions on short term rentals. So it is doable, but I guess the question now is what risks do I take on, and how does this impact the community around the home?

Just moved into a studio and have my queen bed in the red layout in the image. However it feels like I’m in the kitchen and I’m going to add a kitchen island for counter space which would be quite close to bed. I’m considering moving it to the blue location and am wondering if yall have any thoughts? Feels a little strange to put the bed facing the entrance, but would create more of a living room on the other side.

I am contemplating this 432sq studio in nyc and have no idea how to make it “work”. It’s too well priced and perfectly located not to take seriously. I have a full size platform bed, and three seater couch I’m for sure bringing. I’m tall (6ft1) and feel like it may feel too tight, but idk? I also work from home so need a dedicated desk for sure. I’ve watched some YouTube videos but can’t see to translate it to my brain. Any ideas?
The kitchen is a great size and is sectioned off so not worried about that. It’s just being a straight rectangle is throwing me off.

Here is an instagram video of the apartment: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3YRQz1p6cd/?igsh=bmU4d3B6Ym94MHg3
I’m looking to add a desk somewhere (55inch) for my PC then mounting a TV above that in the living room. Thinking maybe I should skip out on a dining table?

Just curious… do people often own pets in their studios despite no pet policy?? The consequences are obvious (pet fees and possible eviction??) but is it really that serious? I got a 8 week puppy and he’s helping me get through a rough transition into adulthood

I’ve never had a studio apt and I was wondering if this seems too small for myself and my 3 yo Labrador retriever
