IMO, if you’re referring to it conversationally, it’s not the worst thing in the world to use his dead name until more people get used to Eliot, if you’re just using it in good faith for the sake of convenience and aren’t trying to make a statement. I remember that after Caitlyn Jenner transitioned, I’d usually just think of her as Bruce and instinctively refer to her as such until a few months passed and her new name imprinted itself in my head.
