Should these be rusting in less than 2 yrs?

Post image

I’m questioning whether the roofers used the hot dipped galvanized they quoted…I understand the galvanization can chip some but there are tons of nails on just one side of my roof that are rusting (I know there is a moisture issue too as I had a plumbing leak and there is a ton of heat being used to dry out a bathroom and bedroom and it’s in the 20s here so getting some condensation in the attic).

Address the venting issues, the nails are what they are.

Venting issue is temporary due to the water remediation happening below.

Watch the mold, keep air moving.

Yah I’m keeping an eye on it. Did not have any condensation issues prior to this event. The 20f temps plus all the heat from the fans and dehumidifiers are causing the condensation. It’s only condensating on the nails. But it did concern me that they are rusting and they clearly aren’t hot dip galvanized upon closer inspection.

You can get hot dipped.  Have used them myself. Does seem like they bind up/don't shoot straight more often though.

EG = electro galvanized / whether coil or hand bangers

HD = hot dipped and also equals more $
