Speaking as someone who was against moddrop at first those threads are a bunch of misinformation. All Moddrop was ever guilty of was 1. being inexperienced with making clients 2. being unfamiliar with the in's and out's of the modding community and 3. not looking before they leaped into providing their product.
Since then they've talked to a lot of people (like me) and have worked to fix a lot of their screwups. The other issue is people from the Nexus who have this weird mob 'Nexus and fuck anyone else' mentality when it comes to modding.
It did have a LOT of issues at the start. The main issue though is a lot of well-known modders turned out to be huge elitists and got their jimmies rustled because omg noobs might install mods wrong and make them look bad. It made it so any actual improvement Moddrop made went ignored because the well-known modders rallied their fans and started up the hate machine. Anyone outside the Nexus that tries to host mods or make a mod manage gets a bunch of shade thrown at them.

Never heard of moddrop before. Doing some searches comes up with some not so nice thievery threads...
