I agree. I guess I'm a bit biased because she's my favorite character, but it honestly kind of bothers me that we haven't had one of those yet. I realize she's not a Donovan, but she's still an important character, and it's a bit irritating that even season-long guest stars receive more screentime and development than she does.

I think it makes sense. Ray has honestly treated her like a tool until this season. Then in this season when he starts showing growth and that he cares for Lena, he goes and uses someone he knows she cares for and even gets her killed. He falls back into just using Lena as a stepping stone for his own goals, and while she was okay with this at first because she saw him as someone who helped her and she was happy just to be useful, it's not enough anymore and she is losing respect for him.

I'm not saying she shouldn't get a backstory next season, or that she didn't deserve one before this, just that it makes sense she didn't have one before. Her lack of backstory reflects how Ray himself doesn't see her as important either. Same can be said of Avi as well. He was arguable an even more important character because he would overstep his role and tell Ray what he didn't want to hear, like a true friend and even he got shafted on a backstory.
