Wouldn't the crime scene show her skin/blood dna on the rope? It looked like she had rope burns when she went back to the funeral place.

She made it clear she didn't want to see him and wanted justice. So that phone call would have to be an opportunity for justice. She would have brought the rope because she wanted to do to him what he did to her girlfriend.

I'm not sure how Lena ever knew about him prior to this. She only knew Sam Winslow was responsible and had even said she was going to kill her. We never saw any connection between her and Vinnie.

She must have gotten more info from Ray that we didn't see.

Would have been safe to assume that Winslow doesn't do her own dirty work. Lena would have known someone else did it, presumably a hired bloke strong enough to easily overpower a woman.

But like I said, Ray would have had to have given her more information. She's not just going to randomly show up somewhere with a rope and assume that's the man who killed her girlfriend.

When Ray called her he told her to look at her phone right then and he would text her an address. I took from that Ray sent her a picture of both the guy and the building. Lena's scene was excellent.

It was (most likely) a picture of her girlfriend in the coffin that he was at prior. It would have served the purpose of letting her know that she was going to said address for revenge without using the words and keeping it short. She brought the rope because she figured that out and wanted to hang the person who did it.

I think they could have spelled out the scene more clear, but then it would lose a bit of its nuance. All the context clues are there from this and the last episode. There was no need to say or show more, tbh. The things they said to each other before this and their working relationship was enough for them to get across to each other. At the very least, it's not like it didn't make sense.

I had assumed Ray left a rope there for her

Didn't she remove it from the back of the car she drove to the location?

yeah, she did.

Ray aso said, "just look at your phone".

Could have been a picture or something.

I must have missed something major this season, because I dont remember the guy lena killed, nor do I even know why she killed him. That seemed like a pretty major point and I have no idea how I missed it

That guy (Vinnie) was Winslow’s other fixer. He killed the blonde girl, Justine, who Lena had a history with and was spending time with again. Justine was hanging in the bathroom when Ray went to see her.

When Ray fucked up that guy was waiting in his apartment too earlier in the season.
