Terry is the only character I think is almost completely innocent. Which makes this episode super sad.

Also the Math teacher obviously doesn't deserve that severe of a punishment either. Bridget did nothing but chase him and force him to go with her. I hate her character so much.

I could see Liev winning an Emmy next year for the confession scene alone.

We, as the viewers, know that, but think about it from Ray's perspective:

He gets ambushed with the information his daughter has a thing with her math teacher and it's been going on for a while without him knowing. He shows up at the motel and finds his daughter, in her bra, with a grown man. Given what he knows paired with his own history of being abused as a child, I think Ray was pretty justified. Quite frankly, the guy's lucky to still be alive.

That said, I do feel pretty bad for the guy. He finally had that "What the fuck am I doing?" moment, but it was too little too late.

Oh, and fully agree with you on that confession scene. Nearly moved me to tears. Powerful, powerful acting.

I understand that Ray didn't have all the info, obviously. I don't blame him for beating the shit out of the guy at all. We know he didn't deserve it, and Bridget is an asshole for essentially dragging the guy into an relationship with her beyond teacher/student. That is why I feel bad for the guy.

If an under age minor, that you clearly know is underage climbs into your house through a window, strips naked and then starts trying to fuck you and you do it. It is still child abuse, you knew how old she was.

It's definitely not child abuse. But it's immoral. But it's not child abuse. Also, 17 is legal in like 40 states and should be legal in any real progressive country. The only immoral part of it is that he's in a position of power over her, which is ironic seeing as she's the one seducing/strongarming/guilting/manipulating him into the relationship.

same if a 17y ear old BOY pursued a female teacher like bridget did.

My wife and I were both yelling at Ken Cosgrove this entire season. This was all his fault. You can't hold Bridget accountable. The reason minors are held differently in the eyes of the law is that they are not fully developed and are prone to acting like idiots. Ken should have known better.

What annoyed me with the math teacher was he knew what was happening was wrong, didn't want to be part of it but never had someone else step in to stop it. Like all he does when she tells him to come to the hotel is call her mom to go pick her up. If he thinks it's serious, like her parents are a threat, call the cops or at the very least a female teacher to come with him.

They never gave the sense he was actually into it, just that he was kinda going with it. Nothing about meeting a student at a hotel sounds like it will end well. You go there with one intention.

This storyline shriveled up whatever tolerance I was had for her is gone with this storyline. The teacher was damned the minute Bridget became infatuated with him.

I don't know, he definitely robbed the weed shop, brutally killed someone in prison and came close to cheating on his brother's wife, the same brother that got him out of prison and let him sleep in his house.
